    I remember this being televised around Thanksgiving every year when I was a kid. Now in this age of technology of course we can see this anytime. I'm 56 now, and I still enjoy the music and choreography.

      I grew up loving this Cinderella more than the Disney version. I would always ask to see the "people Cinderella" (my childhood name for Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella)

      Me too, I grew up on this stuff. It's still good. I like to sing along, if you can believe that. It's just really happy-time feely good stuff 'n stuff.

    this is my favorite Cinderella movie. stuart damon is a hottie, even before he became alan quartermain on general hospital.

      This is my favorite. My favorite is the animated version. For some reason I actually wish the younger generation knew about this version. Oh, and I think it's sad how Stuart Damon let himself go (as far as his weight is concerned). You couldn't tell me this was Alan quartermaine if I never saw this movie lol. He looks so good here.

      neetrab believe it or not, I'm 23 and after the Disney animated version, this was the one I knew before the one with Brandy. I always thought the latter one was kind of weird with the rainbow cast.

    • @neetrab
      @neetrab 8 лет назад

      +MorgieB yeah, the rainbow cast was just to be different, which was fine. But yes...if you didn't know about the other cinderella's before this one.. you would think this one is weird.

    One of my all-time favorites. I can sing it too. I love the other song, "Do I love you because you're beautiful". It kinda makes me a little weepy, it so terribly romantic. The newer version with Whitney Houston, and Brandy is exceptional also. The two ugly stepsisters are a hoot, and Bernadette Peters steals a few scenes with her bad self!

      My brother-in-law is a lighting director and Cinematographer. He has 8 Emmy's and is Emmy judge. He's also a member of the Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Academy Screener. He was sent a DVD copy of Cinderella with Julie Andrews. He let me have it. I love it too.

    Back in the day not all that long ago that was how people met, at dances. Now it's the internet. What else do we have left?

      Glad to see others that like to sing along too. I thought I was the only one. I had it playing on my stereo one day at my apartment building. I was outside on my patio watering my plants. I was singing "Do I love you because you're beautiful". My three neighbors were looking at me like I was crazy, and started to laugh at me, which only made me sing it with more inflection, perfect enunciation, and volume. I started singing it like I was onstage giving a performance. They stopped laughing and I finished the song. They just rolled their eyes, and went about their business. I just love this stuff. I love the classical Cinderella symphony also.

    • @darkhoarse820
      @darkhoarse820 9 лет назад +2

      That's my mother. I tease her about it daily. I think, first and foremost, is that there isn't anything to be overly proud about the performance because it's an absolute silly line, but it isn't anything to be ashamed of either. As she has said to me on many occasions, "a job was a job" whether it was that one or putting on a full body costume that kept her face obscured. With this, she got screen time AND a line, no matter how funny it has been to me. It's worth the 17¢ she gets paid every time it's shown on television. That's funnier. Anyway, she just turned 75. Doing well, just being a good Grandmother to my kids. No complaints.

      I'll share it all, aside from the "younger girl" bit. Not even I can get away with that one.
      I believe I was eight when I first saw it (I'm 36 now). My grandmother died in 1986, but she bought the film on VHS for my mother right before. We wore that thing out. I make sure to keep it close. I bought it for her on DVD about ten years ago. There are just some things you should never forget about...and I won't let her.
      Audrey Meadows, huh? I'll have to mention that and see what she thinks. In fact, I'll have to go through some color photos online for that. The only image I have right now is of Alice Kramden.
      No, I can be a smart a**, but it just wasn't the case here. You need not worry about it. Anyone can post online, right? I'll share and come back tomorrow.

      i wonder why she says "I wish i were a sweeter girl" and looks like she's holding a glass of wine. Is that a play on drinking or something? or maybe saying the wine is tart so is she?

      Then go watch your other one. there would be no other Cinderella movie without this one. There was one before this one, but this one is what made it famous.
