omg thank u 4 this vid! Ur first butterworts video is what made me buy some for my collection & they’re so AMAZING!! I keep recommending them to anyone who has plants bc fungus gnats are inevitable & the butterworts are so effective at catching & eating them!😍🥳
Hello! Love your video:) I just wanted to add some additional ping info. It seems that one of your pings is going through winter succulent stage aka dormancy. Usually during those times you don’t want your ping to be sitting water cuz it will rot them. People let them dry out and sprinkle them with water during that stage. Once they start coming out, their big sticky leaves will come back out. You should check out California carnivores! They have a lot of great info abt certain types of ping care :). Hopefully this helps 😅
I knocked one of mine over and you are so correct that they fall apart! My mom has several and they are always flowering. So cute. I am Shari your video with her. Thanks for doing this.
Those are really good in wide shallow bulb pans or dish type pans. You could even use those plastic drip trays and put one in another that is larger. Or another idea is a large plastic pot like 8 inch and then use a knife or dremel tool and just cut it around so it's only 2-3 inches high to make your own shallow wide bulb pan. Another option is those clay self watering african violet pots for a fancy option. They are sometimes at lowes and home depot for around 10 dollars. They are good for these because with low to no fertilizer and distilled water the clay wont get clogged with minerals and it will last forever. Even with african violets those clay pots stop working after awhile.
Thank you for the video! Super helpful. I'd love to know how the pings did that were planted in the glass bowl. I didn't realize until recently that they don't have to be tray-watered like other carnivorous plants.
Reading about these plants now & shopping around for one too. They appear to be easier to care for than some of the other bug eating plants I've researched.
Gorgeous plants! Pings are very easy growers and great at catching fungus gnats. I hope you do sell or trade pings in the future. I have some pings that need dividing and I’m hoping to trade some divisions
A cheaper option to distilled water and more readily available option to rain water is reverse osmosis water, basically what you get from one of those watering stations in the five gallon jugs for about a dollar. And you might not even need that if the total dissolved solids in your tap is below 50. You can even just install a reverse osmosis system under your sink for cheap.
If you live somewhere with a cooler climate I would wait until spring so you can avoid the dormancy. Also I think when it gets too cold they aren’t really for sale as much so you’ll probably have more options in the spring But if you’re impatient just get it now 😂
Erika you must be a mind reader, I have just recently started getting into carnivorous plants. I have been debating on getting a ping because of dormancy but you have convinced me to give them a try. Do they go dormant here in so. Ca?
Mine have never gone dormant. I haven’t kept one outside so idk about that, but indoors they are fine. Oh I found a site that has some cool droseras Curiousplant.com I haven’t bought from them yet so idk how it will go but I’m planning on it. I just have too many pings at the moment 😅
I bought some teeny tiny baby pings earlier this year and they've been growing a lot but over the last couple weeks the lower leaves are getting little holes in them. I only use distilled water and I'm not sure what's happening. It's that a normal part of their life?
@@ErikaLodes Awesome, thanks! I have been wanting to get a ping but don’t know much about them. Plus they seem to be hard to find if you don’t order online.
You should try soaking them in distilled water so you can clean the roots easier and not have to leave anything on them. This was the cutest carnivorous plant video I’ve seen so far. I’m waiting for my order of pings
@@wolfiegamesyt cool, yeah sundews should be good gnat catchers. What country do you live in? I'm in the UK and you can find them online, in some specialised nurseries or even some garden centres.
@@wolfiegamesyt I think you have an even bigger selection of butterworts available in the US. Now I want some more varieties 😂
I just bought a ping because I want to wage war on the gnats.. but it seems like the soil conditions for pings are breeding grounds for gnats so useless? 😭
these are my newest obsession XD i love little carnivorous plants!

Now I know why I have problems…..I have left my pings in water all year☹️
Wow they look amazing!! And I remember watching your first repot of these and I’m so happy they made a comeback ❤️
Maybe next year they will have to be repotted again 😂
ur so adorbs!!!!!!
Thx for the video.
Very cool + beautiful pings
YOU are so Gorgeous and so are your plants 😍
so many lovely "new" plants thank for sharing

That happened to me too, I dropped it so that it got crushed. It recovered really well tho! So at least they can survive being so fragile lol
Gorgeous Plants💐
omg! how cute! you inspired me to purchase some pings and butterworts. I can't wait for them to come in!! :)

I’m just worried about shipping them lol
I love watching your videos, I’ve beeb having trouble doing homework by myself and you make things better♥️
I’m glad my videos can help 🥺
Wow your pinguicula are great and Big 👍, i have a lot carnivous plants but my ping are just little bravo 👏
Great video! The gypsicola, though, is browning because it's sitting in water. During the succulent phase it needs to be very dry.
Wow so nice and relaxing video so different plants 🪴 very interesting 😀 thanks
Beautiful and healthy plants 👌🍃🤗
Thank you 😊
I was wondering when you will make this video. Happy to see it.
They finally got their repot 😇
terribly cute', little bugga's they are 😄😁🥰😍👍🙏🌱.
Super cute w their lil flowers 🌸
Hello, beautiful gorgeous Pings!
Can i ask whats the best way to get Pings to color up?
Thank you. I just got a butter wort. Do you keep water in the saucer all the time?
If you have access to it, you can also use rain water
She did mention that
Omg I want one
Where do i find these Butterworts to buy? Im in Cincinnati. Thanks!

Idk about the system under my sink but the watering station sounds so much cheaper

I've always chickened out on buying carnivorous plants as they seem temperamental in their care. Reading about these they seen to be easier to grow.

Get yourself a dehumidifier and collect the water
Omg I love these, I can't find them where I live
Yeah I had to buy mine online. They need to get more common! Replace fly traps w pings in stores 😄
Where did you buy your carnivorous plants?
:)))))))
I got them from carnivorousplantresource.com
So they just stay on a pool of water the whole time? Just keep the water level at a half inch or something?
Yeah around like an inch or half
Sometimes I won’t refill it right away after it runs out of water, but other than that it’s always filled

awe. your pings are awesome. I love pings but can't keep them alive. idk what they want, killed 3😫

wait WHAT?!?!
I need a butterwort, I need to kill gnats 😅
Edit: how much do they usually cost and why are they sitting in a water tray?
Did you find any? There are lots for sale online and even on ebay. They grow in naturally wet areas so they like to stay wet for most of the year.
