    Hi, Erika. Prior video, when you were talking about Ping,ps, some of your viewer requested me to make a video for how to take care of Pings… Honestly, you didn’t have to mix any of those pumice of some sort. Just sand would be totally fine. The pups will be just fine potted in sand. You are doing fine. Also, those broken leaves, place it on dump sphagnum moss and keep it humid. It will produce mire clones.
    Sundew can be easily pollinated by just shaking the flowers. Leave the seed pods till it gets black then open up the pods on paper towel then sewn them in sphagnum moss. They will germinate fairly easy.

    Who else WISHED those two leaves could have been placed on sphagnum moss to propagate more plants lol

    dear Erika, thanks, is it possible that in your next videos you do not use music; it makes it very hard to follow your advice this way. Thanks, Friedrich from the Netherlands

    Just a tip you might like to know. You can cut a coffee filter to fit the bottom of your pots so the soil doesn’t fall through when potting. Set the pot on the filter and draw around it to size it. Or you can hold the pot upside down with filter on the outside of it and while pressing it down cut around it. Loved your video.

    Add some sphagnum moss to the bottom before the soil to help it breathe better and to prevent the holes from clogging

    I dropped my drosera spatulata sundew off my second floor balcony and it landed face down in a middle of a bush last week and I lost 2 of the 3 flowering stems before they could flower. I hope the one that remains still flowers but its not lookin good. I really like the large butterworts, I have been thinking about getting one to add to my carnivorous plant collection.

    Used to buy distilled water, but then when the panorama hit I stopped, because there was a shortage for some breathing machines, so I now give my sun dew and pitcher plant brita water and they are still doing fine and growing.

    • @ErikaLodes
      @ErikaLodes  3 года назад +4

      Ya! I got them from carnivoreculture.com
      They came in secure packaging, but are not all from the same source (if you buy multiple) so they might come in separate packages. Also shipping was kind of a lot but I just despise paying for shipping lol
      But I love my babies I got from there so I recommend it!! Also make sure to read the description of how big your plant will get bc some of them stay v tiny in case you want a bigger one

    Hi Erika, are you willing to share the website where you ordered the pirouette and gypsicola? also, I keep my butterworts in moss... I moved them from soil TO moss.... we will see how it goes :)

    • @ErikaLodes
      @ErikaLodes  3 года назад +1

      Lol that is so funny! They do great in moss but mine was getting algae so hopefully the soil won’t get algae idk if that’s a thing
      & ya!! I got them from carnivoreculture.com
      They came in lil 1 oz sauce cups so they didn’t get smushed & were super easy to move into a pot :D since they aren’t all coming from the same place though, you might have to wait for each plant to come & shipping tbh is pricey 🥲
      But I love pings from there

      @@ErikaLodes I ordered Adakama/Pumice stone mix for my mexican pings, I line the bottom of the pot w/ Spag Moss and it's growing up through the mix. Just keep moss trimmed and Pings will be happy.
      You can sterilize your peat moss by microwaving it for a couple mins to kill bacteria or go big and boil it on the stove/bake it in the oven if you need a lot. (Make sure to let your hot peat cool before planting)
      I always rinse my play sand to help remove any extra dust, the sand holds onto minerals so it's best to rinse it with RO/ Distilled water if you can.
      Plant your baby pings and fallen leaves in pure Spag moss in a little deli container or reusable plastic food container w/ a lid for humidity.

    • @ErikaLodes
      @ErikaLodes  3 года назад

      Hmmm it could be soil mites? If you have them in your soil they might get into the water. They aren’t harmful so you don’t have to worry. So hopefully it’s soil mites. They’re very tiny

    • @ErikaLodes
      @ErikaLodes  3 года назад

      Ya that is an issue :/ maybe if you have an open terrarium gnats will wonder in? Or if you have mosquitos flying around you can catch them & feed it by hand?

    • @brandanmistelske1981
      @brandanmistelske1981 3 года назад

      Most carnivorous plants don't need to eat all that often. You could try some freeze dried blood worms or freeze dried daphnia. Just keep an eye on them because they can mold when closed in a terrarium
