Mike, your attention to detail in perfecting your clean cuts is rarely seen these days. I've never seen anyone fitting a halving joint and fine tuning a piece into a dado with a plane before. Most just rely on the tolerance of the saw cut. (Not even Good Ol' Norm) Sets you above the rest and in the league of Japanese Masters. Your narration cracks me up too, love your relaxed, understated style
Mike. I love your videos. The casual narration and your understated sense of humor make them an enjoyable and calming experience. Best on You Tube in my opinion. Thanks!
I totally agree about how people form strong associations with music and memories. I remember listening to Nirvana's Incesticide for as a teenager in my bedroom. Now I remember the room, the furniture, the decorating, the view from the window, even the computer game I was playing every time I listen to it. Great video as always!
So strange, but I have the exact same reaction to the song, and that entire album for that matter. Still one of the best rock albums of the 90s. I never get tired of watching you build stuff. Well done.
Beautiful craftsmanship as always Mike! The invisible seam between the cherry and ebony is stunning. Thanks for sharing! Also 'Daughter' - tune!! That whole album is awesome- really high energy- they kind of lost that on later albums. Looking forward to the next build!
I've been doing a little Shaker table with my grade 11's for years but I really like this little table of yours Mike, not a lot of wood and it has some nice joinery skills to learn.
The bots are on to you..there was a Rush commercial during your vid. Your table is beautiful and I admire your patience and diligence to see your vision come through on all of your projects. Great work.
This is a nice small project to exercise ones layout skills and machine set up skills also. Good to see the supervisor was on site doing some machine safety inspection as well.Nice video.
Thank you. Pearl Jam is one of the few bands I really think are better live. Eddy is a very compelling front man. My opinion, they were the Led Zeppelin of the 90s.
Such a beautiful table! love the socks. I was just talking to my husband about how specific songs take you back to a certain memory. I was referring to a Green Day song where it makes me think of riding home on the school bus. good times.
Thank you Tamar. Can't have a table with cold feet. Music is the closet thing to a time machine in my opinion. Green Day has a couple that send me back as well.
Good looking table Mike. One Headlight by the Wallflowers does the same for me as Daughter does for you. Always reminds me of riding to high school with my sister driving her old POS car and loudly singing I turn the engine, but the engine doesn't turn.
Just wanted to say that there is a noticeable increase in the enthusiasm of your narration. Not sure if it's intentional or not but I'm super happy to see a new video from you!
Thank you. I have put more effort into the narrations. I had never done any voice over work prior to starting my RUclips channel. Looking back on a few of my first videos, they are a little soft and slow. I will continue to try and improve both audio and video.
@@MikeFarrington Honestly, I didn't mind your old videos but this one I think sets a good standard. Anything more may come off as overwhelming. Perhaps try to keep this level of enthusiasm but maybe don't talk so fast.
The shop apprentice is certainly growing, all ready to be a big brother. The table is an extremely beautiful piece, I really like its 'simple' lines. As a newbie I think I find things have a clean appearance are by far the hardest. There’s no routing to hide my mistakes and the idea of making cuts at a 2° angle blows my mind. I wouldn’t trust either my table saw or band saw, both ok hobbyist models, to make such a cut accurately. I’d trust myself even less. The legs are gorgeous and the care you took to get the veneer perfect is so typical of the standards you set yourself. I love watching you work with such skill and precision, it really is inspiring and always reminds me to take more care. You definitely demonstrate the difference between a skilled professional and an amateur. Though I can see myself buying the plans soon as I to give it a try. Being my age there are many songs that take me back to specific times in my life, most of them like "Ashes to Ashes" were probably out before you were born. Another great video, and as I've said before I really learn a lot from your narration. I hope your wife/partner/girlfriend is doing well.
Thank you very much. I’m very happy to hear my videos are useful. I really try hard to build things as nice as I can, it’s good that’s showing through.

Mike... Once again a thoroughly enjoyable project to watch you build !!! I really thought you hit it out of the park and you are absolutely right about refining projects the more you build them !!! Thanks Again.
I like that ebony...gives the table socks appeal. And, about the music...I have a lot of song connections like you mention; but, as you were talking...i could hear Van Halen's "Jump," and there I was back on the neighborhood courts, shooting hoops with my friend Tommy. (Camaro backed up, hatch open, tape player crankin' the tunes....) Thank you for another trip down Amnesia Lane...And, again, thanks for sharing what you do. Very encouraging for hacks like me!
Another excellent design and build video, Mike. I like your videos so much that your channel is one of the VERY few that I have marked to remind me when you post a new video. Thank you.
I like many armchair diyers at home often see your videos and think "I could make that with the right tools." However, even though it is a relativity simple design, I was sweating watching you work on those table legs. Not damaging the veneers would have been impossible for me. You make it look easy.
Absolutely gorgeous. I happen to be sitting on a stock of cherry rough sawn cherry from a tree felled a couple a years ago which should be nicely aged by now. I'll be buying your plans and using a little bit of that stock for one of these tables.
