Who upon reading the title of this video clicks on it and then gives it a thumbs down? These videos are always entertaining and the work is exceptional. This chap is an artist.
I watch A LOT of woodworking RUclips (to compensate for my own lack in ww skills). I rarely like the designs that RUclips WWers come up with but you are an exception! So in addition to the joy of watching and learning from your skills, I also get to enjoy nice design work!
Beautiful project. Thanks for sharing with us. I always enjoy your videos. Your voice/commentary is so calming. At 72, every morning when I stop in the bathroom and look in the mirror, I ask myself "who is that old guy?"
Mike, I just got done watching your entire catalog of videos. I must say the one thing I hate about your channel is that you don't have more videos. Your work is impeccable. It is an inspiration to watch your work technique because it reminds me that I should always slow down and take my time. The results always turn out better that way. Also, I laugh whenever you say "do you guys think that I should do a video on..." Because the answer is yes. Always do a video on that, whatever that is. Congratulations on all of your successes, keep up the GREAT work, and for the love of god, please make more videos! (There must be some RUclips algorithm that applies downvotes to videos. I don't understand why anyone would not like yours)
Your wood working skills are always mind boggling to me, but what I've been noticing is your creative cinematography is quickly catching up to your wood working... " The Beauty is in the Details " Thanks again for sharing
I always enjoy your videos. Very inspiring. My 7 year old daughter sometimes sits with me and she is full of questions that you seem to answer after she asks them... great timing. My 4 year old daughter sometimes watches and her favorite part is when your shop apprentice come on screen. She always says "hes so cute". Keep up the good work sir, Ill be watching.
Mike your stunning craftsmanship aside, I love all the little gems in your submissions such as the weather shots and of course The Shop Apprentice. I'm a fan of two wheel motorized conveyance thanks to Mr. Peart so now I'm an unapologetic weather geek. And my own shop apprentice is off to college in a few short months. My heart is heavy each time I ponder that thought. Spend time with and value those moments with your adorable son. Thanks as always for the quality content. Your work defines the very best of what RUclips can be.
Thank you for the kind words. I just picked up a new two wheeled conveyance myself. Hopefully I have time ride it this season. I couldn't imagine send my little guy off to college.
Wonderful news relative to your new toy. At the risk of sounding like an old BMW rider, it's all the gear all the time no matter the heat or hassle. I intend to extensively tour your lovely state one day. And yes, sadly you will turn around and he'll be off to college too.
I raced dirt bikes back in the day. I have thrown plenty of bikes at the scenery. From that experience I am an "all of the gear all of the time" type of guy. This is a great state to tour. If you are in the mountains, its hard to be on a bad ride.
You are one of those woodworkers I'll never get tired of watching. How meticulously you work, the detail you give and all the extra tips helps someone at my (low) level no end. We even get the usual music recommendations plus a film in this one. Another superb video, thank you. I hope the family are all ok and doing well.
absolutely top notch work. the restraint and execution of perfect, subtle details is remarkable. i'm blown away that there are "thumbs down" votes. perhaps those who wished for an epoxy pour through the top were unhappy? keep up the great work, Mike.

Always a treat Mike. Im actually at work ( in the NICU) telling all my friends that " Mike used 56 dovetails..." and i get this face🤔. The most exact woodworker on RUclips for sure.
Thank you. I bet your coworkers were super stoked to hear that fun fact. Also, thank you for what you do, we spent some time in the NICU.... That takes a mentally strong person.
Brilliant workmanship, it's refreshing to see some traditional joinery used extensively throughout a project in todays domino dominated world. A erasure to watch and keep up the great work!
Most videos I just run on the side while doing work on my two monitor pc. And then there are some next level videos like the ones by Frank Howarth, Laura Kamps etc AND Mike Farrington where you just need to sit down in a quiet corner with your favourite drink and enjoy it from start to end. Thanks for the upload! Oh, and yeah T2 is still a good movie and it has my fav CGI trick ever - the bad cop walking through the bars - I still remember the sensation I felt when watching... :)
I totally agree on how you use the lammelo and those shelves are indeed plenty strong very cool piece I like the way you mounted the back of the cabinet
I hope you take this as a compliment, cause it's meant that way: The cabinet reminds me of some of the casework I have seen in Mike Pekovich's furniture. The proud dovetails, the inclusion of the Kumiko-style panel, the elegant panels combined with the sturdy feet. Overall a very well balanced composition, the cabinet really looks amazing and the execution was top notch. Loved the video.
Once Again I am in Awe !!! Another Beautiful work of Art. Thank you again. I’d sit back and watch a two hour movie of you making something and give it 5 Stars !!!
This one of my all-time favorite pieces. The through-pins on the dovetailed top are a gorgeous detail. Thanks for the pro-tips, too. As an amateur, this stuff really helps.
You Sir definitely deserve for at least 1mil subs for your craftsmanship skills and will to share with others some tips and tricks. Absolutely amazing. Keep up the great work👍☺
As always mike , great job ., so I have a customer who had a 150+ year old door that already had a mortised lock in it . I have an old house that I bought and am almost done remodeling it now but when I did I found a great antique mortised exterior door/lock set . So my customers door handle was all sorts of messed up . They had no lock cylinder in it , previous owners had put this cheap apartment lock. On it and another regular deadbolt lock from a modern lock set . So I showed her mi lock and she loved it and wanted me to fix the door and use my lock set for it , no problem easy 100 bucks on the lock, problem was her lock set mortised part I’d much longer than mine and the holes weren’t the same , which is fine also so I removed all of the old hardware and used the Dutchman method to cover all of the previous deadbolt holes and existing holes from her old set , mortised the spots I was using the Dutchman, got everything all glued back together and planed down and sanded , pi us d a filler block in the old mortise to make up the space to make mine work , a stalled the handle I sold her and everything looked great , last step was to ( I know ur going to be like WHAT ) bond-o all of the old nail holes and some of the rails were separated but solid so just fill all of those sand it out and paint , ( she is painting it , it’s mad of fir and painting would look soo much better , ain’t no bringing it back to lof unless she spent real money on it but she had a budget of 500 ) well I got the new lock I sold her all looking good shut the door , lol I accidentally had it on backwards lol and theses are all special holes drilled in the door where each component attached to the lock set ... so tomorrow it’s back to re mortise out the door where I already added the Dutchman and keep it moving . So I say that to say this . Shit happens lmao . Most people would have screamed or something but I felt silly and it’s no big deal it can be fixed , I normally didn’t have th patients for this but honestly from watching your vids it has slowed me down quite a bit . Because when you take your time , even if u make a mistake , the project will come out perfect . And there is no better feeling than overcoming an obstacle . Maybe I just needed to get that out . I feel better . Great vid , I feel like biscuits do add strength , your essentially fusing the wood together , how can’t it be stronger ? Why no kumiko , how did you come up with your verdict on not using it , it still came out sweet
@@MikeFarrington thanks man. Do you've much experience with using a shaper ? . Although I can't really remember any of your work that requires it. .. that I can remember.
