I remember watching this and being so excited about a simultaneous release, its crazy to think that is the norm now. Imagine a world where Sword and Shield were released in November in Japan, and the rest of the world had to wait until April at the earliest to get their hands on it! This was a great direct, rest in peace Mr. Iwata.

You’re a couple years too early
I remember watching this with my brother in the kitchen early in the morning before school back in sophomore year. The moment we saw Chespin in that 3D battle our minds were absolutely blown. October 2013 was a golden age of everyone having their 3DS everywhere. I miss Iwata. The Wii U/3DS era was better than we gave it credit for.
The very late DS/early 3DS era was the best man. And the fact Iwata cared so much about EVERY Nintendo series... what a man.

I’m so excited for Pokémon X and Y! Those starters look so cool, along with the legendaries! I predict that Froakie will gain a Dark type and become a ninja, Fennekin will become a Fire/Psychic type and become a witch, and Chespin will become a Grass/Fighting type. I know, it’s a stretch, but I think that’s what it’ll be! Also, those 3D graphics look amazing!

*Sigh* I know, he's left one of the greatest legacies in Nintendo/Pokemon History. Following that being Regi retiring from Nintendo. Reality is often disappointing, but a rather sad one indeed. :'(

I know. Its like time grew wings and went a mile to fast and now Iwata never saw the light of day when Sword and Shield came out. If only he were still alive today he would be so proud as to where his beautiful creation has lead us. The last Pokemon he saw were the ones from Gen 6 and none after. ;-; But in our hearts he will still live on forever, for HE created something that Everyone was able to enjoy. From Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow all the way to our new and beloved Pokemon Sword and Shield. HE made this all happen, for without him we wouldn't have such Creatures to train, evolve, and battle along side us for all these years.
HE IS THE TRUE LEGEND, HE IS THE ONE AND THE ONLY, AND WE, WE WILL KEEP HIS LEGACY GROWING AND LONG LASTING. FOR IF POKEMON HAS LASTED THIS LONG, SO CAN WE!!!!

Plus, at least these games had the entire pokedex and you didn’t have to pay extra for the entire game...
