I like how, despite being invincible, the bosses still pose a real threat to you. One hit, and it might as well be a death, since you have to restart the entire boss fight
It's just such a creative game.
I genuinely never knew how to beat that one boss with the fire until I watched this, and I got this game for Christmas in the late 90's!

I think its moreso she knows she'll lose in a direct fight. I mean, she may be a pirate but she's not gonna out-strength WARIO of all people, hence getting the Genie's help and the mechs in 2.
Wario is one of the seven star children, who could possibly scale to each other. Mario has effortlessly destroyed castles, and donkey kong punched the moon out of orbit. Not to mention, wario is ridiculously durable and malleable. I don't think it would be smart to take him head on. So the machines seem pretty necessary.
The first proper video game I ever played, got a used GameBoy Color, WL II and Pokemon Red for Christmas back in 2004, pretty quickly followed by an N64 and a bunch of games. Good times.

POKEMON TYPE WEAKNESS/SUPER-EFFECTIVENESS ALERT (FIGHTING >>> DARK): The scenes where Wario hits and defeats the bosses in above video explains why in pokemon franchises Dark type pokemon is weak to Fighting type pokemons/attacks (reason: Good guys/main heroes use battle moves against Evil creatures to beat them).
