First,I didnt like this version of SmPumpkins at all, when adore came out. Jimmy Chamberlins drumming is such a huge part of their sound and as a narrow.mindedkid then, I missed the "grungy" sound at first. Kenny Aronoff looks hilarious :-) but he's a phantastic drummer, also did a great job for the pumpkins then. And the adore is just such a great, dreamy/atmospheric album.
I love♥️🙌 the Live-at-the-Gugenheim version of this and the other songs played🎶just the sound and amazing energy💥and especially the addition of the extra lyrics at end🥰
Its Called an EBow (electronic bow) it's a battery operated device thats like a violin bow but uses an electromagnetic field to make the sound rather than strumming it like Jimmy Page. His guitar is a Fender Telecaster Deluxe, which is kind of rare.
For the life of me, I can't understand why Billy didn't put for fuzz guitars on Adore...this version is so much better than the album version...because it's full and it's fuzzy, not to mention it's their trademark sound
Billy used to write some really cool, simple, rumbling, effective bass lines for D'Arcy. After she left they were never quite as good (for the most part). His new bass player is knocking it out the park tho.
incredible video. great head shots, strum shots, drum shots, crowd shots, lighting, scope, everything. I wonder if there's a split-second red-shift though, or is it just billy's style. His elongated, almost syncopated strumming seems slightly off from the audio, or else, I can't seem to hear his instrument(al) at all. Of course, Kenny and Iha are so dominant in this song. Look at this e.g. 0:28 It's as if, if he weren't even playing, but just singing only, it wouldn't matter, we wouldn't know the difference. Can YOU hear the chords?
Yes, practically the sound of Billy's guitar is a bit buried by the drums and iha, probable acoustic error of the place, it is difficult to play outdoors, Billy is playing almost without distortion and the original chords of the album at 4:16 you can see the sound of his guitar and the strumming that he makes although you are right that the audio of the video is a little out of date, but for a few fractions of a second video error
One of my favourite Pumpkins songs, shame Darcy leaves and Jimmy is missing, Ava Adore would have been even better with him, if they could get him out of oblivion at the time. Did on the next album Machina..
@bearsbearseverywhere Yeah, I always thought Kenny Aronoff was a bizarre choice for a touring drummer. Not because of his level of talent, but because he just doesn't seem like a Pumpkins drummer in terms of feel.
Considering the album was recorded with multiple studio fill ins they needed someone who was super pocket oriented and not shooting speedballs after every show
Adore era Smashing Pumpkins is so underrated.
Quite obsessed with this performance 🖤
Not "almost," but entirely true. I always liked Adore, but found it a bit distant. But seeing the live footage, it's entirely different. Pure genius.
It would have been unreal to be there.
yes, hope they recreate this in virtual reality. i'd go back.
wow I love this version.
One of their best songs
amo al baterista ... como toca
They occupy a brilliant music space, all by themselves.
I love D'ARCY.
What a ride!!!!! Awesome song !!!!!!!
@AnthonySandhu
It's called an E-bow.
It makes your strings vibrate and hence creates a polished feedback sound.
beautiful
Check out the great Kenny Aronoff .

Su puesta en escena en la gira de Adore era lo siguiente a cool. Eternos!
I like the lyric change up at the end. Billy does it alot for the live shows.
Turn up Iha's guitar please.
Dal vivo questa canzone è estasi pura, niente a che vedere con quella sul disco.
Lyrics in catalan ❤❤❤

Two drummers? They still don't come close to Jimmy's talent.
This album definetely does not works alive (but i love smashing pumpkins anyway)
