Ive read 10 discworld books and Small Gods is still my favorite so far, although "The Truth" has come close

    Glad you are enjoying Discworld!
Re: The Turtle - I am sure others have already mentioned this, but the great flying space turtle In both Pratchett and King is both a nod to Hindu mythology & art, and a physics joke.
Re: Next Books - while I love Pratchett and I suggest reading all of his books, my next step would be Wyrd Sisters. It is the start of the witches cycle. There is technically one book before it in that series, Equal Rights, but that is really more of a standalone. The Witches (Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg, Magrat Garlick, later many others) offer both very compelling stories, and also some of the best commentary and jokes about the nature of storytelling in all of the books.

Ah thanks for clearing up the turtle thing, that's pretty cool. I own Equal Rites but a lot of people have said Wyrd Sisters so maybe I'll give that a go.

I really enjoyed the seeing Terry for the fan reading panel at last year's Flat-Earth convention! Also it is wild that Mort was trying to collect King Julian's soul this whole time smh...

Lifelong Pratchett fan here, so I enjoyed this. I would suggest Wyrd Sisters is another great place to start - it introduces probably the most iconic characters after Vimes and Death (and was the first Discworld book I ever read). I also personally love the Industrial Revolution books but they work best once you understand Ankh Morpork better. Have fun - I'm jealous of anyone who gets to experience them for the first time!

Wyd Sisters is the second book in the Witches saga, he should read Equal Rites first as it introduces Granny Weatherwax

@@Beyond0Eternity I'm aware of that. I just think Wyrd Sisters is a stronger starting point overall.

Btw, what discworld is to fantasy, Gintama is to battle shonen as both of them start off as parodies of their respective genres, before slowly developing into their own story/world.

As someone who has never read a Discworld book you've just sold me on all 3 of these. There really is too many good books out there, huh?

You should get an Amazon referral link or something cause you have just sold me a 5th book through your reviews. Will read Small Gods as soon as it arrives.
What's next on your TBR if I may ask? Have you started Abercrombie's The Heroes yet?
    Nice video, cheers!

Hey Joel been enjoying your videos for about a year now since I discovered you while deployed. Thanks to your reviews my "to read list" is way too big for what I have time for. I'm curious how do you get so much reading done? Any tips of how to squeeze in a book into a busy schedule? Keep up the great videos!

Having an e-reader is great, you can take it wherever you go and can squeeze in some reading during downtime. Audiobooks are also a huge reason I can get through so many books. If I'm ever doing chores, driving or doing anything where I can listen to something, I usually have a book on. It's not for everyone cause some people have issues concentrating on them but it's definitely worth trying out.
