certified legend
I remember times when djs would search for records and not just download them.. ah. That's the past. Now everyone can enjoy music with much less effort. Music is for everyone, not just for the hard working deejays trying to educate the audience.
Not only that but as they said find hidden gems in other places when they travelled...or meet other artists and truly share their process- or even just when finding small labels in other cities paving the way for that "Detroit" or "Berlin" vibe. So dope.
Gilb'R is a boss, a reference!
Pure class!
Incroyable le track de Pépé Bradock, la basse de l'intro a été semple sur un vieux sieur de New Beat, Poison - PN'P.

How can people afford so many records? Do DJs write it off their tax and get their money back?
World Traveller a lot of them would be promos that were sent to him
I assume he is collecting records most of his life.
Record shops can give you an invoice (you have to ask for it over the counter ; on online orders it often comes in your package) and the DJs with their own company can get the VAT back this way.
Of course you don't necessarily buy everything new like this - there are bargains to be made digging at flea markets, non specialist shops, yard sales, people pawning off large bits of their collections... and you can make them one at a time or maybe by acquiring a large batch for a reduced price then filtering down.
Some gigging DJs subscribe to record pools and as mentioned, there's promos and doing all of that over a number of years.
I think it's a combination of what was already said: promo's send to him, and a lifetime of collecting records. But also DJ friends giving their records as a present, making enough money as a DJ to be able to buy them, and find the hidden gems in cheap places.
Second hand records are more affordable also
cool dude but it would be actually nice if we could hear more of the records and less of him talking above it lol
