September 1944: on Dutch soil the men of the King's Own Scottish Borderers stood against the Germans. They fought, suffered and died in september 1944. Tha 'n eachdraidh du\inte. But we Dutchmen will remember. Thank you Scotland! Lest we forget.
I am an American but proud of my Scottish ancestry. I only wish the author of this great patriotic work was still with us. Thanks to Ronnie and Gavin for keeping his memory alive.
God was creating Scotland, he said 'I'm going to give them stunning mountains, beautiful salmon filled rivers and fabulous clean air'' St Peter said, ''you're being a bit generous to these Scots God'' God replied ''wait and see the neighbours they're getting !!''
Scotland's National Anthem sung by Roy Williamson, the man who wrote it (and of course fellow Corrie Ronnie Browne). RIP Roy. Your song has guaranteed your immortality.
Wow this is a very beautiful song! Sotland must be the best land in the world. I love their traditions and the Scottish people seem to be very proud of their country. It has passed Sweden on my list of the best countries in the world. I hope we gets in the same group in WC 2010 iin Souuth Africa. Tartan Army is the best fans in the world no doubt Greetings from Sweden.
I am far away from Scotland but this song/anthem is one of the best I've heard. Wish we had such great singers. Praise to Roy and may he rest in peace, he died much too young...
Im from Germany. Read about Scotland's plan to get independent in the near future. On our TV they made even a show of it. They figured out that Germans fully support Scotland's Independence. When i heard this fantastic national anthem today, it made my hairs on the arm stand up. great country, great culture and i love bagpipes. All best for you Scotland, greetings from Germany !
A Great , powerful song . We love it . Good luck Scotland . And Good Luck Rangers at this difficult time . We LOVE Scotland - such a beautiful Country . We just happen to be Catholics . From Ireland we salute you .
Yeh i love this song. I remeber i was in Ireland on holiday and went into a wee traitional irish pub with a traditional irish band, and they started sto play this, it was amazing, everyone joined in, scots an irish both singing it.
The corries wrote this song, and they have said publicly it is about William Wallce. He is the man who "stood against him, proud edwards army" and "fought and died for" our great nation.
im proud that my mother hails from north of the border and will ALLWAYS be on my her side, scotland has been taken for granted for to long !! P.S. iv e done what my daddie done.{fell in love north of the border)
I don't know if it's cuz I'm part Scottish, but I got goosebumps all over the first time I heard this song. I listened to it half a dozen times in a row after that. Thanks for letting us hear it.
I feel guilty...I was born in Scotland, lived there for 2 months then moved to the isle of man for 3 years then to surrey until 13. I'm now in Singapore. I want to go back to scotland...My brothers say I'm not Scottish because I have 'English culture'...That hurts so much...
I'd pay $10 000 to go back in time and be there at that gig. I might also comment - the lensing and cinematography of the video was very well done - captured the honest pub feel of the gig. Very impressed.
To LairdDav3 - Thanks for your comments about Scotland, I'm Scottish and support Independance and it's always nice to hear someone from another country supporting it too. Have to admit I didn't know too much about the Bavarians/prussia etc but its something I'm gonna read up on now, cheers
I've got an earlier Corries album which I recently bought after not having listened to that one for about 20 years or so. It's one of their concert albums and it's so weird to hear Roy introduce this as a new(ish) song and there is no stamping or shouting or anything. Everyone listens very politely to this new song and then claps nicely at the end. It's such a contrast to what happens later on!
Everytime I hear the Corries perform this song... I get goosepimples.. From the first time ever I heard it... And then I didn't know yet that it had the status of anthem. Must be I was a Scotsman before being Dutch ;) I can listen to the Corries every moment of the day...
Am not really a scot, but have ancestors from there ^^ But the love to this land and to THIS music was always there in my family and I grew up listenin to it =)
@DIYman2011 I first heard this song sung at an Irish club in Auckland, New Zealand and it touched my heart. I am 4th generation New Zealand born from Scots on my fathers side and Irish on my mothers side. I thought it must be a traditional song and was astounded to find it was only 30 years old. I am not Scots nor Irish - I am a New Zealander and intensely proud of that - but there is in me traces of Scotland and traces of Ireland. This is a great anthem.
No the song is about William Wallace. Both of the Corries have said so. Wallace stood against Edward, Wallace fought and died for us, to free our nation. He's the greatest scot in history and the songs about him.
Scotland forever! Make your own thing! You'll stand much more better when you're a nation once again!! (You don't need England! Maybe England needs you! )
Saying a Scot is English would be like saying a Kiwi is Australian...and probably more hazardous to your heatlh. So great to hear everyone singing along in the video! Beautiful!
Many thanks for uploading all these songs...I really enjoyed watching all of them. I "would" love it likewise if you had a copy of the "bricklayer" song as I loved it so much....
It's about time that Scotland should be an independent country! Leave the UK! Get on with it! Long live an independent Scotland! Scotland the brave and the best!
The song is about William Wallace. They wrote the song, they have said it's about Wallace. Wallace stood against Edward, he drove him back, he invaded england, and while he lost he gave his life to save us all.
Thumbs up if you want Scotland to become an independent country ! *Nothing against England, Wales or Northern Ireland..... We just want to rise now and be a nation again!..... Independent or not, we will always share this Great Island of Britain with our 2 neighbours to the south. Long we may all prosper !

I've heard "Flower of Scotland" sung by many others, but not one can compare with the Corries. I only wish Roy was still with us.
I am an American but proud of my Scottish ancestry. I only wish the author of this great patriotic work was still with us. Thanks to Ronnie and Gavin for keeping his memory alive.
I'm Catalan but if I where from other country I would be proud to be Scottish.
Scotland allways in my heart.
God was creating Scotland, he said 'I'm going to give them stunning mountains, beautiful salmon filled rivers and fabulous clean air''

God replied ''wait and see the neighbours they're getting !!''

I feel guilty...I was born in Scotland, lived there for 2 months then moved to the isle of man for 3 years then to surrey until 13. I'm now in Singapore. I want to go back to scotland...My brothers say I'm not Scottish because I have 'English culture'...That hurts so much...

I just love this song and the gentle quality of Roy Williamson's voice. I'm not Scottish, I'm Irish, so maybe it's the Celt in me.
