The best part of this video outside of the great advice is the face at the end of describing when and how to water.

I fertilise in spring, but you're right, they do grow like crazy. Perhaps I'll try waiting for summer, perhaps midsummer will be a better time here in Scandinavia.
Some of my plants are in training, being fattened up etc., they'll still get their spring fertiliser.
    Good video!

Just discovered your channel.... I really like your approach, your explanations are easy to understand and with the visuals it easy to retain. I have watched hundreds of videos in the past several years , many having to do with watering. This is the first time I've seen the yellowing of the leaves (outside in, inside out) explained. I have asked several bonsai professionals to explain Heavy Fertilizing to promote rapid growth in the development stage. Up to this point I have Not received an answer to my question. To me the answer should be relative simple for them. Just tell me if the fertilizer has a recommended dose, how much can I increase it to achieve growth without harming the tree. I realize that every tree can be different but I constantly here these professionals say they 'Heavy Fertilized' without explaining how .
This is the first video I have watched of yours and you may have covered this subject previously..... If you haven't possibly you could touch on the subject of fertilizing trees that most beginners would have...... Including type of fertilizer NPK, frequency etc. I feel the way you explain things all of us beginners would understand the terminology and the how tos' .
    Thank you

Thank you for visiting my Chanel others videos about bonsais already and will upload to share for you all
      In regards to your question
Fast grow The golden rule is that good soil must provide all nutrients, including organic matter, air, water, nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. So, to improve your soil quality from better to best, you should never forget to add these nutrients timely!
      Adding compost, best banana Pell’s
To make a nutritious, organic substrate, we can choose between organic or chemical fertilizers. Manures, compost, and bone meal are examples of organic fertilizers obtained directly from plant or animal sources, while the inorganic fertilizers various forms - liquid, powdered, or even granular.
add fertilizers, scratch the soil using a cultivator. Apply the fertilizer by gently pouring or spreading it depending on the form. Check with your local Nusery Suply if you are in Melbourne I can share them with you
More often will help it grow fast not more then what required
      I hope it help

I need your help with a few things
    1. Finding Akadama or any other special bonsai soil where I live is impossible so please suggest a simple not too fancy soil mix that works equally well
    2. Does potting a plant in bigger container or even ground help faster growth
    Looking forward for a reply

      Thank you for your visit
Technically plants grow in any soils provided it it gave well drainage
      Nutrition
With garden pot mix ok add 10% of clay balls if possible if not anything help open soils for oxygen for roots
      acid-loving plants
Azalea, Rhododendron, Camellia, Magnolia and even Blueberries! Ceanothus, Japanese anemones and Pieris japonica
If plants need acids then add a bit sulphur for it which you can buy any garden supply
Akadanna is the soils have double lime in it
You can buy lime add in for your pot mix to plants love Akadanna
      Doesn’t it help

Great tip about upward watering on the pines. I have to ask about the discolouration on the azalea leaves. I have several that seem to go into different shades of red and yellow and often with bits of black. Is this a sign of a mineral defficiency in the soil or nothing to be concerned about. They can have this all year round sometimes. i only ask because I noticed that your azalea leaves had the same reddish marks on the leaves too. Great video by the way :)

Stephanitis pyrioides get to azalea a lot and it stay under leaves
Just give it spray often like ones a month don’t wait still you see them
with mix 1 part of vinegar 5 parts of water spray upward as they all stay under Azales leaves

I have said for years that Spring fertilising for most Bonsai is a waste of time! A tree withdraws nutrients from the leaves in Autumn and releases it back in Spring, it doesn’t need fertilising until the first leaves have hardened. Then a single dose of a higher Nitrogen fertiliser then a balanced organic or slow release until late Autumn with a half strength mid winter dose for evergreens. I also reduce feeding during the mid summer months as most plants go into semi dormancy when it gets hot!
