Just a heads up, Keep a first aid kit onboard & at least some water in the tank when out & about as the public will flag you down as if you were on the run, (running call), happens all the time, nothing more embarrassing when you tell them it’s been decommissioned & drive off unable to help.
CFS is community fire safety. A is A routine so the vehicle would have been checked over once a week looking at all its roadworthiness and logged as A.
I like the personalisation you made to your Dennis Sabre fire engine. I like the 'EG' crest on the cab, just after the doors; The 'Extreme Garage' logo on the shutter above the rear wheels and above the shutters, the 'Extreme Garage Fire & Rescue Service', where the fire service who owns that fire engine would let the public know where it's from.
Nice to see you have the vehicles actual fire service history document, as it tells the pumps history. Brilliant to see you enjoying ownership of a piece of Fire Service history. You have a like and a new sub.
As I have said on previous videos Dennis's are well known to have a hissy fit at least once a week hahaha. Always good to keep spare bulbs in the cab as well as a fire brigade mechanic and a recovery truck following behind... However they are still by far the best fire appliance to date and we are lucky to still have two on the run.
@@ExtremeGarage You need to treasure this one mate - Dennis are more or less gone now, they haven't produced a fire appliance for years. I used to buy appliances for my brigade and have fond memories of meetings and inspections of new machines with the guys at Dennis, Guilford.
Here in Canada you would only need a regular license to run that, plus an air brake endorsement which is only a few hour course & practical test of an air brake inspection. If it had 3 axles you would need a class 3 license which is for any truck with 3 or more axles, up to and including a trailer if the trailer does not have air brakes. Pretty simple test only thing extra is you are tested on the pre trip inspection of the truck. You could register it as a recreational or personal vehicle therefore it is exempt from commercial regulation does not need commercial inspection and you don't have to go into weigh scales.
Great advice. If I was to preserve a Fire Truck. I would probably import one of the 1998 Pierce Dash pumpers and I would keep it active and have water in the tank for the roof mounted water cannon as I would demonstrate it at special shows. I would keep it and treat it like an active fire truck. Although some roads would be tricky due to its size and weight. But it would be something unique that would be seen in the UK when I was taking it on a leisurely drive.
Yeh I think that's illegal. By law, they should not be exposed whether on or off on public roads and should be covered up or removed. Saying that, I do used to love the old rotating light bars lol
What insurance did you get for your fire engine as I am having difficulty trying to insure a 2001 fire tender engine. Would hope to hear from you. Btw I have watched all your videos and they are amazing to watch.
How would this work if you were out in public and got flagged down for a fire? Are you legally allowed (insurance etc) to start running the hose out until the fire service arrive?
Wouldnt be any issue assiting untill the fire service turns up. Every second counts. If you saw something you'd assist if you can if you were in a car or walking past.
@@ExtremeGarage Excellent. I've thoroughly enjoyed your series. Ever since I was 9, I always wanted to be a firefighter and to this day I am an enthusiast.

Hello Question sorry. Are you aloud to use the lights and sirens when you want, or are you just aloud the lights, I'v been saving up for my own engine about 2.5 years saving now for a 80's engine hope to get it next year.
agreed the tax is zero rated not null rated. Null is also infact not a number as it wouldnt parse into an integer if we are talking about computers. ;-)
Im guessing you are referring to the one in the background? It is not actually for the engine its just a normal ladder and that's where I keep them at work :-)
Would buy one it would be fun lol but I think there was one up here that was used for party's. And hen night's.👍👍. Altho it is Mot Exempt it must be road worthy or you will charged with driving a vehicle that is not road worthy. If you do not look after it means daily checks. I reckon you already know this tho. I assume you are a Truck driver.
Noticed you have a Standpipe key and bar with your kit! If you connect to a hydrant and take water out of the mains, you have to inform the water authority, the fire service have legislation for the provision of water for fire fighting, not just anyone can take water from the mains.
Fred Dibnah didn't worry about the legality of connecting to fire hydrants to fill up his steam roller while out and about on the public highway. In fact, he said he'd cleaned out many where muck had built up under the hydrant cover that obviously hadn't been cleaned/serviced for many years. He was doing the fire service a favour if they were needed quickly in an emergency.
I’m sure it’s very cool owning a fire engine but please know to never use the blue lights at any time when in a public setting with other people/motorists around. it’s first illegal and second very dangerous. Thank you
I would think because they like them and I would own one if I had the money and space. Its no different to those enthusiasts owning a bus or an ex-military vehicle really. Its a specialist hobby mate.
Plenty of business opportunities: Hire for events like races or steam festivals Educational resource going round schools etc Doing it up to sell on to a business that does those things Making RUclips videos about it
As a serving firefighter and EFAD driver, I really enjoy you fire engine videos.
@Markey haha it's my son videos, I serve with DSFRS

Dad worked with an identical 97 built Sabre in Hong Kong as a fireman before he retired 10 years ago, bring back all the good memories
CFS = community fire safety SsC = special service call I believe the a+ is a house fire etc
CFS is community fire safety. A is A routine so the vehicle would have been checked over once a week looking at all its roadworthiness and logged as A.

Yes I have noticed a few little things that work one minute then not the next. TBH quite entertaining rather than annoying.
they are certainly interesting, just don't let the fuel drop below quarter of a tank, you will regret it!
one thing of fun is that taking the purple wire out the back of the fuel guage gives me a full tank reading.

Thanks for sorting out the audio - I couldn't watch the previous videos as they were inaudible.
Their is a, preserved one in Scotland its a Dennis sabre aswell
it's originally from dorset

The lightbar is set up wrong. The 4 halogens each side faced forward.
Im definitely going to investigate this. The wires were just cut and ive had to work it out which was difficult.
ssc is a special service call, basically any job that isn't a fire
Super many thanks for that
The heaviest fire engine I know of is a 26t machine with a 12 (3 over 3) manual gearbox and i do believe it was a Scania 4 series.
Loving the videos so far and the audio improvements are so much better!
CFS = community fire safety

In finland you have the remove all emergency lights if you want to buy old firetruck
Ssc might mean special service call. Things like cat up tree, people locked out or stuck in lifts etc
It'd be cool if you upgraded the emergency and driving lights to all LEDs so you wouldn't have to worry about bulbs
But that ruins the classic aesthetic of the appliance
How much is a bulb really? I'd prefer to see it as original as possible.
Lol, just get a warm white LED or something.
Yeh I think that's illegal. By law, they should not be exposed whether on or off on public roads and should be covered up or removed. Saying that, I do used to love the old rotating light bars lol
however the is a fire engine you can own and drive only on a C1 license made by bedford as i own one (Green Goddess Fire Engine)

Great advice as always Lawrence 👌🏻
Just subscribed. BTW, are the blue lights not supposed to be covered up or removed? Because isn't that illegal? X
How do you change the blue light across the grill I am curious lol
How much did you pay for it then? And where from?
How would this work if you were out in public and got flagged down for a fire?

If you need to replace parts what do you get
I've these videos matey. You're a man after my own heart. I'd be just as excited about all the stuff you are. Where does your interest originate from?
I have a passion for how things work, tools and machinery. Nothing ticks all boxes more than a fire engine. Especially ones ive grown up around.

Extreme Garage Tank next?
Hey dude the asf means arson fire
Hello mate. I can help with any locker gear you need to restore this to service standard if you’re interested let me know reasonable prices also
Do you have to log when you go out now?
Cyclingbob Its not a legal requirement but i do as it adds to the history of my appliance of where its been to etc.
So what licence do you need to drive any fire truck
A would be accident and A+F would be accident with one of the involved vehicles at that stage being on fire. Also is the Godvia foam equipped ?
Is Les Dennis a french fire engine
Love to know the milage
Anynew vids yet ? Lockdown shoulda helped get it sorted haha

Where would you get replacement tyres from tho for the fire engine
There are a couple of places I can think of off the top of my head that do tyres for lorries
Any commercial tyre supplier they aren’t nothing special
I think they are fairly standard tyres for the size of vehicle, anywhere that caters for LGVs will probably have them or be able to order them easily
Would you be selling any of the Helmets which you have , if so I’d be interested.
ItzChiefKay yes so would I
