Thanks for sharing this information. Does pineapple grow at every time of the year? or does it have specific time that it should be planted for optimal yield
It all depends where you're located like I live in a more subtropical to temperate part of Australia where they tend to go semi dormant during winter time & the frost does burn the leaves then but they recover during the summer time. They do prefer to be planted when the weather is warm but I have had some success planting pineapple 🍍 tops during winter time although a smaller top died back then. I would probably keep the potted sucker plants either in a greenhouse or in a sheltered position during winter time because they may die,in a subarctic climate such as in North America closer to Canada I would seriously bring the plants indoors for the winter because they're more of a tropical plant which will die if it's planted out in the snow for example In tropical areas such as Indonesia they will grow & produce fruit all year around !
I started 2 pineapple 🍍 plants that way in 2021 & now 3 years later one of them is fruiting & another one is not far behind, it's nearly ready to flower. I started my potted pineapple 🍍 garden about 5 years ago this year & I have more slips & sucker plants that I know what to do with so I don't need anymore until I move onto a property where I will have heaps of room to plant them !
Yes, but unfortunately, I got some copyright issues with some of the music used in the original video so I had to replace the sound which has caused loss of some of the information. Therefore I had to re-record the voice over for this new one to fill in the missing information.
Thanx Dr for sharing with us

@RussellBooth1977 said it all. A very comprehensive response to your question. I live in a tropical country so I get to grow it all year round.
YAY!!!!!!! 🥰
Glad you liked it
How long after transplanting the new buds will it fruit n does the fruit give suckers around the fruit?
I dont have river sand can builder sand work? What other material would ypu suggest?
If the builder sand doesn't have a lot of clay, you can use it.
@@dr_obisgarden i tried it 3 days ago, all of the leaves have died back. Is this normal, is this the part where i wait?

I'm happy to read about your success. There're people who still think it doesn't work. Happy gardening.
Wasn't this video uploaded 2 years ago?

@@dr_obisgarden ok
I have been doing this for 3 months now.
Great! Hope it's going well. You should be harvesting your first seedlings soon.

👍
Well. I tried this method, and they died. I'm not sure what i did wrong. I may try again in the future, but for now, I'll just plant a whole top.
If growing the tops works for you, keep doing it. Best wishes 🙏
