Actually been building our a Zoa rock over the past 2 months. I like to trim the plug down as small as possible. The Zoa names are so hard to keep track of...
First month my zoas were just not doing well, but now they are growing off the plug. Beside my Duncan (which I love feeding), I think the Zoas are becoming my second favorite coral in my tank.
March possibly be careful with the Red Sea dip and acros. A local guy I buy frags from dipped a bunch of colonies of smooth skin acros and they started bleaching out. They lost some but I think most are recovering now. I personally haven’t had any issues but maybe try it on smaller batches if you are ever going to use it. I’ve dipped zoas, lots of lps, montis and acros without noticing any adverse effects. It works really well though.
March slow down when you are moving around I get dizzy .you have beautiful corals my tank used to be beautiful its nothing but hair Alge an altajul it's so bad
I’m new to this stuff but watching Mike handle Zoas with his bare hands and then touch his face made me extremely anxious. Isn’t that super dangerous??? I put on goggles, full respirator, and arm length gloves when I handle zoas! 😆
Not Zoanthids, Palythoa are the ones that are super toxic. If your cutting them or scraping the Zoanthids off the plug it's probably a good idea to wear gloves/glasses.
The diatoms are blooming in my new tank, so I guess I'll be getting some CuC soon, then I hope to be ready for some (relatively) easy corals like these zoas before long!
Add some zoas now.. they will be fine. Diatoms pass on their own I really wouldn’t suggest adding vibrant to solve an issue that will just pass on its own. When you go looking for your CuC, if you see a zoa frag or two that you like that aren’t super expensive I’d say go for it. I added a few acro frags in the middle of my diatom bloom and they are still kicking
Thanks guys, I'll keep an eye out for zoa frags while buying my CuC. I'm avoiding Vibrant like the plague, though. Vibrant and UWC... let's just say they're getting bad press right now.
new to reef keeping. i see some people swear by using goggles face mask, and gloves when dealing with zoanthids. something about them being poisonous? Do you guys feel that it is a waste to do so?
They are poisonous yes, but its not really something to worry about. Just don't put your fingers in your mouth and rinse your hands under some water after you're done and you should be fine.
"dirty coral" Hmm, I tend To agree , despite them being the natural entry into the hobby. pests, virus's and bacteria magnets for sure. I don't like them in mixed set ups anymore
I’d love it if you put all the videos about this tank in one playlist! I want to follow the progress on this one.
Night Owls and Utter Chaos, going to look amazing!!! Glad you post everyday
I tend to cut a bit of the frag disc's edges as well, so it doesn't look like a round disc but more like a rock piece. Seems to work
Thanks for the daily videos 👍
Friendly advice - use tile cutters from a home improvement store to cut plugs and you won't get so many shards flying around.
Night Owl zoas are very nice. Never seen those before.
Tank is looking great!
2-3 weeks to cover the plug whhhaattttt🤯 mine grow so freaking slow 🐌
I can’t wait see u zoa garden when it grown a bit Mr Fragbox sir! 🥰🐶❤️ plees pat mr Dix for me ❤️
Just ordered some more from you to fill in my zoa rock a little more. Should put me up to 15 or so different colours/combos

How long before 1 or 2 zoas take over everything?
Looks nice

What happened to “videos everyday of the week!” I need my daily dose of Fragbox tv 😁If I don’t get my daily dose I might go into Rapid Tissue Necrosis
I want to take a drive to you guys sooo bad, but I live about 2 hours away lol
@fragbox corals how about an update on the zoa garden.

Dipx from red sea is really good I have used it
👍 here you go.
What type of coral is the yellow one that is In The sand at the end of the video where your gluing the Zoas in it’s shown at 8:02

Hey March, What is the name of the long stemmed coral on the left side of the display tank? Is it a gorgonian?
I’m new to this stuff but watching Mike handle Zoas with his bare hands and then touch his face made me extremely anxious. Isn’t that super dangerous??? I put on goggles, full respirator, and arm length gloves when I handle zoas! 😆

Day 16: Im really hoping for a Berghia Nudibranch farm Video :)

Try getting a emerald crab and slow dose Vibrant

@@James670 absolutely do not use vibrant. It ruined my nano tank
@@trevor852 I'd believe it. Check out the chatter on Reef2reef and other places for news on Vibrant.
I understand they are friendly. However I have had an issue where a dominant one overtakes by growing over a less dominant one. What to do?
Still waiting for the update video
Hello there I was wondering also about an update. @fragbox corals how about an update on the zoa garden.
new to reef keeping. i see some people swear by using goggles face mask, and gloves when dealing with zoanthids. something about them being poisonous? Do you guys feel that it is a waste to do so?
I have the same question bro they look cool but the toxin freaks me out
They are poisonous yes, but its not really something to worry about. Just don't put your fingers in your mouth and rinse your hands under some water after you're done and you should be fine.
If the Lacy Act amendment passes there will be no more coral in the hobby. Think about that.
Smells like turpentine? I always felt it smelled a bit like Pine Sol cleaner.
Terpentine comes from pine trees 😁
I wish the dip developers would use more realistic measurements for the average person dipping 5 corals 😂
"dirty coral" Hmm, I tend To agree , despite them being the natural entry into the hobby. pests, virus's and bacteria magnets for sure. I don't like them in mixed set ups anymore
I like the idea of a Zoa garden, but the fact that they can kill me, just puts me off.
Your car can kill you too. Do you not drive a car? Lol
3:20 had my tank w revive once lol bad idea
