I love the idea of a zoa garden so much that I started one myself, it looks really awesome so far. Coralust has a cool zoa, grand daddy purp and I NEED IT!!!!
we just built our 75 gallon and my son and I have a softball sized rock that we have dedicated for a zoa garden. we already have 2 strains on it, a rasta and a bam bam. we like the bright colors too, this is our first time messing with zoas so its a learning curve and I wish I would have seen this video before cause we just glued the frag plugs to the rock (smh)… I found out about you from your appearance on reef news network, that was a killer podcast! keep up the good work!
First, thank you for watching! Second, welcome to the impending zoa addiction! Glueing the plugs isn't terrible as they will eventually grow over them. No biggie!! Good choices for the first couple zoas.
Awesome video. Im finally breaking down, fragging & cutting my. Zoas this weekend. I hate the damn plugs. Just takes up too much room. I have the perfect rock but can't fit all of my 25 Zoas & Paly's on it because of the plug. Bone cutters; check. Got myself a scalpel too to make fragging easier & I some Brightwell Frag Recover. Picked up some great tips from this video as well as your Zoa Fragging Video 👍🏻 Thanks!
I'm in need of a good frag sesh too but I have no room! Gotta offload some stuff. Happy to help! I always like watching how other people frag and take bits and pieces here and there.
i ORDER 5 ONE BUTTON ZOAS, AND WANT O CREATE A GARDEN. hOW SHOULD i SPACE THEM? iT WOULD BE COOL TO GROW ALL MIXED TOGETHER. iSEE MOST WITH A PATCH OF ONE COLOR THEN A PATCH OF ANOTHER. i PREFER MIXED BUT IF i CANt do that THEN SHOULD How far should I space them... sorry caps, dont feel like retyping...lol How is it that wine chili is so big? is it feed more or just some grow bigger than others?
It truly depends on the strain. Do some research on the different strains you have and how fast/slow they grow. I generally start them 2-4 inches apart. The Lime Chili's are just a larger paly so when next to a regular sized zoa they look huge.
Love the work you did on that garden and your other videos. I will be doing a few gardens with the zoas i have. A few of the ones i like that i don't have are krakatoa, blue agave, hallucinations and white zombie or yoda. If i could find a cheap couple of polyps of each that would make it that much more better for my soon to make zoa garden. Also which should i keep away from each other or can they all pretty much be mixed with each other?
As far as I know, zoas are all good next to each other. The one thing some of the faster growing zoas will do is take over the rock. I'd stay away from Pandora's and Nirvana's in your garden.
so whenever you attach any coral to rock you have to destroy the frag plug? You cant scrape it off like glue and all? Hate to throw away good frag plugs..lol
There is a technique you can use with a razor. You try to scrap into the top layer of the plug and get just underneath the zoa. 3 reasons I don't like this, frag plugs are super cheap, if you slip you could jolt as you're try to push or pull through the plug and slice a finger and if it's a higher end zoa you could do the same thing but slice through the zoa and damage it.
My favorite Zoe is the Bob Marley, but I must say I like your little Zoa garden that is pretty sweet, when yours gets out of control hit me up LOL 👍✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️
I’m doing a zoa garden in the new tank. Not sure which ones yet as it’ll be probably 5 months before I even put livestock in it. Loved this video and thanks for uploading!
Dayglo Volcano Paly are my favorite one... you have a nice setup. Have one question do you have a sticker of your logo I like to collect sticker from reefers
OH MAN!!! Dayglo's are GORGEOUS. I don't have any but I love them. I do have stickers. I've been terrible about sending out so I think I'm gonna make that my project next week. DM me your info on IG (@bahamallamacoral) Thanks for watching!
Caribsea Natural Reef sand (3.0 - 5.5mm). I love the larger grain of this substrate. I tried a fine sand when I first got into the hobby and wasn't a fan. My frag tank is bare. Thanks for watching!
I've personally never used them before. For softies you really don't need much so they should work. You could also look at the Chinese black box options on Amazon.
@@robertlangford7637 I found some open box returns of current orbit loop and ic loop on amazon for 42 and 62 bucks. Open box returns and nothing wrong with them! I dont know that they always have those deals and you have probably already bought lights.
so what happens when 4 zoas on a little rock start to overtake the rock? Does it quit growing because there is no room? Seems 4 on a rock isnt much room at all. Maybe a good size rock but you called them rubble. Also mine are still on frag sitting in sand bottom. i have a 10 gallon, current orbit and a bridge with two rocks, one on each end holding it up. I dont know what to put directly under light on the bridge because its so close to light. I have 2 sps there now that I only bought to trade to my lfs because they were 5 bucks. But being its so close I need corals that like high light and flow, do you know of any lps or sofies that fit the bill? I guess I can turn light way way down and put low light coral there but If I tun it way down then I worr y the ones on sand bed wont get enough light!
Given that it is rubble if one zoa starts to overtake the others I can remove it from the tank and take it to the saw. Sometimes I'll take larger pieces to the LFS and use their saw. Frag it, reglue, sell the excess. The corals are always growing and changing so you have to tweak as you go. It's just part of the process. From what I know about that light, I don't think you'll have to worry about frying anything. It's not super powerful. The best way to be sure is to rent a PAR meter. That way you can see what it's putting out and adjust as needed.
Bahama Llama Coral what’s your ig boss . I’m stuck my lfs sold me a few frags but I don’t think they knew exactly what they were I know 1 is a nirvana 2 a utter chaos but this last one is hard I will send you a pic on ig almost looks like a pink panther or a white zombie
Loved the video thanks man, ive been keeping fresh water for a long time and have had my first salt tank fro about 2 months now, trying to see if my fav zoa will grow onto another frag, not ready for cutting things yet haha
I would like to have all of them 😂 am new and am still working with lights I have lost couple of corals but zoas had survive, I like you video and will keep buying zoas
Bahama Llama Coral I get that lol I’ve been battling hair algae just removed as much as I can and I’m trying to black it out for a few days anything else you recommend
@@charmcityreefing1124 Look into Vibrant or Fluconazole. I'm currently using Vibrant in the lagoon in a maintenance dose. Seems to be keeping the uglies away. Make sure to research though. BRS has been doing videos on Vibrant that might be helpful.
U and ur channel will do good man! Ur funny but kinda corny which is perfect for a channel. Big fan of how u placed ur garden! I have 5 kinds in mine to start which I did about a month ago. I have Halle berry, aoi, scrambled egg, watermelon, and sweet tooth. Dying to get some illuminati and tasers. Hit that sub button and looking forward to more vids man!
Why not drill holes in your rubble rock? That’s what I do… drill a hole just a tad bigger than the plug…and poof! You can rove yourself frags around so your commitment issues aren’t an issue any longer
Thanks for the tips on the color wheel. Got a bunch of Zoas from auction 2 weeks ago. Letting them settle in and then build out my 2 gardens
Any follow-ups on this? Would love to see how they look today!

Favorite zoathid by far is the bam bams! My eye is always drawn to them when I see them in someone’s tank
the superglue doesnt hurt the zoa?

Keeping it REAL. Keep up the great videos.
Just hitting the hobby and seeing more of your recent videos. I'm really leaning towards zoas for my first tank. Still have your frags? Suggestions?
Zoas are a good start for sure! Mushrooms and leathers could be another option for beginner corals.
Great video!
White Zombies, Hallucinations and Little Shops!!! I’d love to have it in my tank 😄
All great choices!

Does zoas need more blue then white ?
I think most coral will benefit from a combination of both. I run more white light the first 4 hours and ramp it down the second half of the day.

Are you use prime hd for your acuariums?
Primes are over the frag tank - xr15 radion over the lagoon.
WWC Space Monsters, the new ones!
How long do you think to fill in?
If the tank stays healthy maybe 4-6 months? That's just a guess. Zombies and yodas grow a bit quicker in my tanks so we'll see!
What kind of substrate are you using
Caribsea Natural Reef sand (3.0 - 5.5mm). I love the larger grain of this substrate. I tried a fine sand when I first got into the hobby and wasn't a fan. My frag tank is bare. Thanks for watching!
Where did you buy your tools you are using?
Mainly from Bulk Reef Supply. Bone cutters...tweezer...etc
what are your AI prime settings?
Modified AB+ I run whites for half the day, heavy blue for the second half.
How long time take it to be big enough ?
Depends on the growth of the zoa. My guess is 6-8 months.
I want fruit loop zoas, and electric Oompa Loompas. Great video, I wonder what that zoa garden looks like now👀
Good question! I'll have to do an update video soon.

Ultimate Agave zoanthid are beautiful

Chong bongs, petroglyphs, utter chaos, bowtie blazers, rainbow incinerator, purple monsters are in my zoa collection

very cool video! :D you got a new sub there 👍🏻
Any update on this?
Yep! Just did one a couple days ago.
I'd like Rasta zoa's, because I have two clowns and two scarlett crabs and live rock in a 34 gallon. Week 2 of cycling.
You should do an update on the garden
Will do! Adding some new stuff too!
I need help getting my Zoas to open.
Doller stor glue works and lock tight gell doesn't go figure 🤔
My favorites are Rostas and I wish I could find a Zoa that is Blue and Green like my Seattle Seahawks.
Rainbow rhinos are blue/green. That might be the way to go!
