- We dealt recently with the annoyance of land squatters and we wanted to share our experience and how we are preparing so this doesn’t happen again while we build our off grid desert homestead in Cochise county, AZ.
Has this happened to you? Share with us in the comments.

There seems to be a lot of videos around of people just going out to a remote area, assume nobody own it, and set up shop claiming they are homesteaders. They even find old buildings and cabins that are locked and just assume they are "abandoned". I agree with previous posters - fences and signs are the minimum to have., especially if you are a remote owner.
Fences and signs are your first line of defense. Sheriff is your final call. There are measures in between that I won't post.
setting up shop in a few months in wv. my buddy and his family are coming with me. he is a disabled vet and the first thing he plans on doing is having a barbecue and inviting all the
local leo's. he wants to see them and have them SEE US..
Greed knows no bounds.
Every offgrid homestead should own shovels, picks & hopefully a backhoe!! 😉
this is becoming more and more common down here. best thing is get to know yer neighbors and have them watch yer land for strangers.
Get you a couple of great big nice dogs for y’all, but good guard dogs and I guarantee you they won’t won’t want to be very close.
With all those tree's out there you should get a woodchipper to clean the place up
And don’t forget to dig holes to dispose of the trash.
at about the 5.18 mark that looks like the

am i correct?
Hello fellow Cochise county homesteaders! I just stumbled across your channel today. I researched Arizona land ownership a few years ago, and, if I remember correctly, you don't need to have those "no trespassing" signs up in order to be able to use legal action against trespassers. Also, if you do post signs, you need a minimum of 1 sign per fence line (e.g. for a rectangular property, that is 4 signs). You guys have probably done the right thing with where yours are posted, but a general guideline I have heard is to post them at any entrance to your property.
BTW, I've just subscribed, onward to 500 subs!
Thank you!!! And I appreciate the knowledge share!
Thaank You for posting this. I comend you for your kindness! I don't think I could be that kind . NOT NOW DAYS!
good job. Many people know they are on others land not public or their lands, and that is how they enter the USA that we all pay taxes not them to live in.
God bless you both! We in Florida have a Governor that does not play!!
Just found your channel and subscribed. Good video
Awesome, thank you!
A Garmin along with the chip for your area will show on the map who exactly owns the property around you as well as your name should or will eventually appear…what about a game camera
We are lucky that our county has an online interactive parcel map, which gives us the property owners whenever you click on a parcel.
Games cameras can work as long as you are in the area to check them frequently. Thats the downside of cameras is that you’ll need a power source & way to transmit that data (internet) if you’re not in the area for a while. That makes more sense for vacant homes really, or new builds.
I was just involved in a situation that showed that neither the county maps nor the gps data was correct. The only thing that is legal is a survey from a licensed land surveyor. You don’t buy land based on some app on your gps or based on the county tax maps. You buy land based on a deed drawn and stamped by a licensed surveyor.
@@keithmask87 we purchase a new chip annually and have never had issues even when hunting. Just saying
Their is a group in the USA that thinks trespassing isn't that big of a deal. Their sense of freedom doesn't include morals or wisdom.
just call me #244 lol.... stuff like this is happening all too often
you do not stoping a dog our bird but humans are bad?
good to know
Florida is leading the way towards getting squatters of your property more easily.
get a skunk or a bunch of them
😂 We are already covered there. The neighbor said he shot 3 in one week last year.
@@Christenhelmsquatters or skunks?
@@heartdawgSkunks as far as we know….. 🤔 😂
There are so many people living out of their vehicles nowadays in the Western states and all the criminals coming over the border; even if I built a beautiful home I would never feel safe in that kind of location, especially at night; additionally, large corps are buying up all the water rights; if you don't have water you don't have anything. Good luck to you both.
i'm from the midwest and have lived in colo for 35 years. cannot wait to retire to land in wv. god love em, but i could never live out there.
dry hot dusty windblown
It’s off grid…. Settle the problem. Bring a shovel and forget about it.
Should have charged rent. This would help with the build. Once you are off and running, they got to go.
To be honest they do it because it's not right to own something if you don't use it we also own offgrid land and live on it. There is a law on the books that says you don't have a right to have a place you don't maintain or take care of.
Your comment is emblematic of the huge problems we are having in this country.

they are paying prop taxes and are in process.
imminent domain by gov't and adverse posession
by squatters is crap and should not be allowed.
That's what guns are for.
Put itchy powder all over the ground.
a beaver cuts a tree. its cool. but a human can not

Nope, that’s a fantasy that won’t end well for any fellow believers of that philosophy.
Stupid is as stupid dose.
