The golf downswing sequence can be tough to practice, as the golf swing is a dynamic movement.

In this golf lesson, we show you how to make a perfect downswing by getting a better golf release at the moment of impact, and show you one of our favorite golf downswing drills to help you work on getting the proper golf lag release!
This video is great if you tend to have a casting golf swing or you hold off golf swing release.

Awesome lesson, don’t know how the heck I missed this one! Thanks Todd, your buddy Pat from Kapolei, Hi🤙🏽
We were just in Maui, love it there!
70 year older golfer that suffered several major injuries in my twenties and 30's one of which was fractured neck which left me with odd reflexes. If you swing at my chin I'll duck tomorrow but lower body and legs are normal reaction. When I concentrate on wheight shifts my lower body gets way out infront. Your vertical line swing has worked wonders of syncing lower and upper body naturally without having to concentrate on weight shift.
Many thanks now hitting ball in play and solid .
Allen, post of the day here. Thanks! Sorry to hear of your injuries yet super excited you are seeing progress with our VLS program. We have the book version coming soon.
Todd, Thank You. It's going to take some getting used to, but I can. I haven't used my wrists in over three years. (The other swing) Thanks again.
U surely r blessed with golf knowledge
Good video of emphasizing “intent” (acceleration through impact) rather than rehearsing a “position”. Well done.
Thanks Ken! Appreciate the kind words. Other topics you would like to see us cover?
Hey Todd I have to admit I was having all kinds of downswing problem s but I saw this video and went out and hit a couple of great shots into the woods I’m impressed and extremely happy. Thanks I really believe I found it👍
Fantastic! This is why we do what we do....spreading the great game of golf....
I tried that first move once at the range. If you like to mishit, use that swing. Your method is much easier to learn and actually works. Practice is the key to all things golf.
Good stuff, happy to help!
Good lesson. This is a key concept.
Thanks Gregory, let us know if it helps!
Wow great lesson
Thanks for watching! What do you think will help your game most?
As I understand it a full release is when the left palm is facing the sky and the back of the right hand is over the left hand with a complete loss of lag at my left thigh should the logo on the back of my left hand he pointed at the mall ball or the target let me know thanks for your help Jack
You talk about the 60/40 weight distribution on most shots. Could you talk about weight distribution heel to toes? Are you leaning forward, balanced centered? I have found myself leaning too much on my heels. Thanks
Ken, great idea. In general you want the weight/pressure to be in the center of the foot at setup. Early in the backswing we like to see it move towards the heal slightly. This allows for more turn and hitting the ball from the inside. We will do a video with more details. Hope that helps. 👊
@@USGOLFTVshow On the back swing, slightly toward both heels? Or trail leg? Thanks for the reply.
Thank you for sharing your skills. I noticed you don’t have ball strike, then divot afterwards. There needs to be some shaft lean and hitting DOWN hard. Correct? I did the latter, and my shots are straight, flush, and it just feels good!
You have a good eye. When hitting irons we want to see a slight forward shaft lean. This is key to hitting solid shots.
So when do I really release when my hands are red my left thigh should logo of the left hand be pointing at the target thanks VL for your help kindly advise Jack
Can you expand on release?
Thanx for the tip. “They” seem to always refer to releasing the club following contact with the ball ... confusing.
can you attach a new link (for the UK) to purchase the Planeslider as the link above does not work...thanks
Thank you for reaching out. I don't believe the Planeslider is being sold anymore. However we are working on something that will help with the same concepts, so stay tuned!

Thanks for watching!
Thank you
Sure is a big step in the right direction, might be a bit over simplified, you are dealing with gravity and vectors as well as nuances of the shaft, part of what I am talking about can be illustrated by a weight on a string and swing it like a golf club, but in a full circle, you will see how you can accelerate the weight at different points of the circle with slight movements of your wrist.I believe the wrist action ranks way up there in creating club head speed but to break 110 mph you must add the rest of your body, their in lies a enormous problem of syncing it all up.
Buen video
👍👏👍👏
At 2:42 you say that you want the handle and club head to reach the ball at the same time. That's false, you want forward shaft lean. You're basically teaching people to cast and early extend, although it is only a mild cast. I see early extension in your own swing which is caused by this casting.
The handle should still be parallel to the ground when it gets to where the ball is, that's how you get shaft lean.
The comment was "basically" you want the handle and clubhead to reach the ball at the same time, this accurate. Yes, a slight forward shaft lean is good with the irons, but not too much as it can lead to its own set of issues. Fairway woods and the driver are also different.
This move will hurt your back if you are a senior…
Get to the point!
