They always get the calmest cats for this kind of videos 😅
thay is true
😂😂😂😂
I wish my cat was that calm and still.....the second the needle gets close to her skin she freaks out every time 😭
Try with the point to the bottom
@@johnsonpatrick80 sadly with the pandemic kicking in right around the time she got sick, and her temperament since she was faral, I made the unfortunate decision to surrender her to a no-kill cat sanctuary in my city, as I felt it'd be selfish of me to keep her without being able to give her the treatment she needs 100%. I could get some shots, but missing even 1 dose is like missing every single shot it seems from what the vets kept telling me. I'm alone and have no help, so I figured the professionals there would give her a better chance at remission and life. Sadly, due to COVID they never let me visit, and while they themselves struggled to give her shots, they worked on her temperament. They waited too long to treat her though and ketoacidosis began. They had her in the hospital for days trying to treat her on pain killers, but couldn't save her so they put her down. Still have no idea how she got diabetes to begin with, as she was on a fixed diet, not free fed, and I only ever bought her Hills Science which was like $70 a bag and apparently some of the healthiest for her, considering she was a picky eater too... Maybe she just wasn't active enough while I was at work? She loved me and followed me everywhere like a puppy, never had a cat quite like her before. She'd sleep most of the time I was at work I think, as she was always asleep when I'd get home or half sleep when she'd greet me at the door haha...I miss her everyday, and wish I could've said goodbye. Surrendering her was the hardest choice I ever had to make, but I was hopeful they could help and we'd be reunited again. If COVID wasn't a thing, I would've been able to visit as often as I wanted.
I feel the government needs to do a better job at regulating what these companies are allowed to put in our pets food, I know so many people who free-feed their cats the equivalent of McDonalds food and wonder how there aren't more diabetic cats out there.. :(
@@patrickbateman9410 so sorry for your loss. You and the shelter have done all the best.
Thank you, this was very helpful! My cat turned around to give me a suspicious look when the needle actually went in, but then she turned back to her treat. No pain or emotional trauma.
My cat is crazy compare to yours 😭😭😭
They use cats that are well used to it. My cat thinks she is being killed. Extremely difficult
😂 mine too so over dramatic
Mine one is dieing 😭😭😭
THANK YOU!!! Our fur baby, Tiki Girl, had 7 teeth removed yesterday & Im getting ready to give her a SQ dose of pain medicine. She’s one of “those” cats that can smell the med in her food & will walk away, takes two people just to give her meds PO or to even catch her & it stresses her so we opted for a SQ injection. So much easier. This is my first SQ injection on one of our cats. As a RN, I wanted to make sure of the correct area & technique of performing the SQ injection on my fur baby.. EXCELLENT VIDEO!!! Blessings to you all for caring for our fur babies. 😻😻
I have to give my cat B12 shots and while he doesn’t mind the shot itself it’s the being held still he cants stand. He’s also very long haired so it takes me a long time to get a skin tent that I’m confident is actually skin and not fur. I tried food and he would not be distracted. I tried wrapping him in a towel and he just got out. I don’t have any help and I’m not sure how to hold him still or move quickly enough. Last week I’m worried I saw a little air when I pulled back on the plunger but wasn’t sure and didn’t want to take any more time so I went ahead. It’s all insanely stressful. Is there any other way I can approach it so it’s not stressful on us both?
Brigitred, I would recommend to tent the skin between the upper shoulder blades, then inject the needle at a 45 degree angle. I wouldn't focus so much on moving the fur away as you lift the skin the fur separates itself. Then push the plunger down to give the B12 shot. Something to lick like yogurt or ice cream to distract may also help. Sheryl at Revival.
Thanks! The best explanation I found here.
my cat will kill me she is very aggressive 😭
Dominant female cats usually are.
to anyone wondering, its much harder than it looks like, saying from experience
That is a fat cat, he's been getting to much cool whip, baby food and cheese!
🙂 Definitely not lacking attention! The Paws Squad.
kitty probably had to get loads of shots 😂😂 no wonder its so desensitized to the needle but also plump
My kitty needs B12 shots weekly for a while, so I have an appointment on Wednesday for them to teach me how to do it at home. I’m horribly afraid of needles but I think I can overcome it for him. I’ve been watching videos to help desensitize myself. I love him with all my heart and I’d rather put myself through the fear of handling needles than make him go to the scary vet’s office every week. Thanks for the information ❤
The first few times you maybe nervous, but then you'll be more confident and it'll become easier for you. Sheryl at Revival🙂
@@RevivalAnimal Thanks for the kind words! I’m very nervous, but I’m also excited to learn how to take care of him this way. Hopefully it’ll all go smoothly. 😊

Thank you Doc..
My cat is sick..Im trying to give him injection and I dont know how..
Thank you for sharing this video..

How much of the needle are in? I worry that it's not deep enough
My cat had diarrhea. The doctor prescribed 3 injections for me to give my cat today. While I was giving the injection, the cat moved and the injection was in contact with the skin because the cat was in pain. I was worried about the cat getting hurt. I followed the safety procedures that the doctor explained to me about how to give the injections, but I had to go back and inject the cat with the same injection 3 times in different places between the shoulders because of the movement. Did I cause harm to my poor cat? Please answer because I am worried.😢
Hi, We recommend contacting your vet to make sure you administered the medication properly.
Oh your kitty takes injections like a pro.
checking for air- that's my problem, I will try what you said!
You're not alone! Have a wonderful day! -Revival
If there's no air the syringe will pull back in by itself. It will look the same as air but it's actually a vacuum.
Thank you! I appreciate your video!
I’m giving my friend’s cat an injection, and this was helpful. He showed me how, but I was still nervous. I’ve never given an injection to a person or an animal before. Thank you for the video.
You're welcome Joyce, thank you so much for sharing your experience! 🙂Sheryl at Revival
Showing that with a completely co operative cat is only of very limited value in my opinion.
We appreciate your opinion Mark. This was to show how to give the vaccine not so much how to restrain an animal to give the vaccine. That being said, it may be a good idea to have Dr. Greer demonstrate different techniques that could be helpful to people who don't have a cooperative patient! Thank you for providing an idea I know others also struggle with this too. Mark is there anything else you feel would be helpful for Dr. Greer to demonstrate or talk about? 🙂Sheryl at Revival
Does it go in the muscle or just through the skin?
Vaccine injections are usually done subcutaneously. However there are vaccines that be given subcutaneously or intramuscularly. Or just intramuscularly. We recommend to read the directions before giving any vaccine. If you're unsure please consult with your vet before vaccinating. Sheryl at Revival
we have horrible cats they dont let the nneedle inside
Cats can be more than a handful sometimes. Using a cat restraint bag may be another option to help you instead of a towel. Sheryl at Revival
If theres blood when one pulls back, does that mean you have to throw away that needle and try again with a new one?
And how does "air" look like? I dont understand
If you see blood in the syringe, it means you might have hit a blood vessel. Pull the needle out and replace it with a new one. Inject in a different spot. Air will look like bubbles in the syringe. Sheryl at Revival
What about the medicine in the syringe? I'm about to try to do my cats solensia but at £50 quid a vial I can't throw it away and start again.
If there's no air the syringe will pull back in by itself. It will look the same as air but it's actually a vacuum.
Hey can you please help me out. I gave my cat his injection he didn't seem to be in pain or anything he's just mad at me but I actually don't remember because I was too stressed doing it and not sure when I pulled back if I got some air can smth happen to my cat if I got a little bit of air? Please help me out
@@jayj2477 Where at did you give him the shot?
This is the most well behaved cat during a poke as possible.
Yes, KityCrylics, This cat is very docile and really used to being handled. The Paws Squad. 🙂
Best explanation so far. Only one that addressed the FISS issue.
Im kinda concerned now. My vet did his injection between the shoulders cause he was acting out. He typically gets it on the leg and gets light swelling for a few days at the site. If it has a higher risk for tumors, why do vets put it at the shoulder :(
Rinrei, The reason injections are given between the shoulder blade is because there are very few nerve endings. Less painful to the animal. Sheryl at Revival
I just saw this video and god im freaking out. Yesterday I injected my cat in the neck and both times I took in and put the needle, I heard like a "crack" sound. Now she's running away from me and I'm scared I might have hit a muscle or something
Good morning Eunsita.K. Vaccines are given usually between the upper shoulder blade by tenting the skin (pulling the skin upwards in the shape of a tent) and injecting at 45 degree angle. If you're concerned, I would recommend to have your vet examine your cat for you to make sure its ok. Sheryl at Revival.
Did you figure out if she was okay
What??? In the neck??? Vets should be showing people how to do this!! Poor kitty!!
@@jbunnns Yeah she was fine, it was just the skin breaking bc of the needle
@@heatherpaganelli5092 Not in the neck, sorry, english is not my mother tongue and it can lead to misunderstanding. It was were they get the microchip

is he overweight?
It's easy to inject someone else's cat, but if we inject our cat, it makes a noise like the earth is about to be destroyed.
LOL, yes, it thinks by doing so, it'll make you somehow stop. You're doing what's best for your cat. They don't understand it, they do understand hugs. 🙂
I didn't Tell about dose and injection ml show more details
Ahan, video on how to give a vaccine will help you> www.revivalanimal.com/pet-health/how-to-give-injection-vaccination/learning-center. A puppy or kitten would get the full dose>1ml according to the manufacturer recommended age. Sheryl at Revival
I thought antibiotics had to be given intramuscular
Good morning Teresa, Antibiotics are most commonly administered in the same way as for humans - orally or by injection. Oral administration can include by tablet or paste, or as a powder or solution in feed or drinking water. Sheryl at Revival.
Cool whip??? That's terrible for cats!!😢
Cool whip is not toxic for cats and will not cause problems in small amounts. Sheryl at Revival.
@Revival Animal Health I NEVER said it was "toxic" for cats!! It's just not a healthy treat!! IMO, I think it's not the best advice!!
@Revival Animal Health But, I do THANK YOU for the video. My cat has recovered from pancreatitis. This video was helpful!! Thank you!

What do you do if the cat is going to try running away and does not just sit there like the cat in your video? I have to give a steroid shot every other day, and I don't have anyone to hold the cat for me.
I would suggest to burrito wrap the cat. There are videos on youtube that will show you how. Sheryl at Revival
@@RevivalAnimal He won't put up with being wrapped. Last night I took him to a small bathroom and put him on the floor. Then he was so desperate to get out, he went to the closed door and kept meowing staring at the door. So I could give him th shot because he was distracted looking at the door. I have a hard time making a good tent in the skin because he's so thin right now. The skin tends to collapse together.
PJ V, Maybe try giving the injection in the back flank instead. Any distraction that allows you to give the shot is good, even a door. There's no absolute perfect way. What works this time, won't always work the next time. You're doing a wonderful job, even it the patient isn't making it easy for you. 🙂 Sheryl at Revival
@@RevivalAnimal You are right about it not working the next time. I tried that method of going into the small bathroom 2 or 3 times but it resulted that he became very wary and started avoiding me and looking scared. So I began to wonder whether I need to try giving the Dexamethasone with an insulin needle instead.....or should I switch to something else? He won't let me pill him but I was able to get him to eat a Budesonide hid in his food twice so far. My vet says the Dexamethasone is stronger to address his severe GI disease. So I'm not sure. It's also possible the Dexamethasone has side effects that make him feel worse.....Or it's me giving the injections that bother him. Trying to figure out what to do.
PJ V, My heart goes out to you. Keep having conversations with your vet on how things are going. They can monitor your pets health and provide support/care better than anyone else. Sheryl at Revival.
I love that cat i wanna adapt him! LOL 😍
🙂
Thank you 💕
How do you know how much medicine to inject??
Aztec Warrior, when injecting a vaccine, you'll give the full dosage. For example, Nobivac 1-DAPPv, comes in a 25 ct of 1 ml single vials. The animal would received the full dose of 1 ml. Sheryl at Revival.
What would happen if I get a little bit of air in ? Can smth happen to my cat? I did one injection and he seems fine and everything but I'm not sure when I pulled back I didn't get no air or anything.
Jay, injecting a small air bubble into the skin or muscle is usually harmless. But be 🙂careful it might mean you aren't getting the full dose of medicine, because the air takes up space in the syringe. Sheryl at Revival.
An air bubble means the cat will not get the full dose nothing more.
How is that cat so quite? I Stuck myself onece as I tried to inject a sick cat and he almost ate my hand. I ended up not injecting him and luckily he got better himself.
isishguy200007, This cat has been handled many times and is very docile. Unfortunately most are really skidish so it helps to wrap them in a towel or small blanket so they're not able to scratch or move their legs. Sheryl at Revival.
@@RevivalAnimal All of you people on these channels seem to get model cats to use in your demonstrations. Prepare to bleed alot of you try that with my female cats. Anyways, what is the dosage of buprenorphine for an eight pound cat?
More specifically though, dexmedetomidine +- Ketamine? Anyways, in the meantime, get involved with TNR so you people can help try and mitigate the pervasive disaster of neglected, starving cats, not only in the dump cities where you live, but in every depraved city in the world. _Jim at Coolite.

Did its hurt please tell me
Divina Nantin, It's not real painful at all. It's like a quick pinch and it's over. 🙂 Sheryl at Revival.
can i give my cat antibiotic injection in the same way subcatenous at the nick as u did?
Hassan, the best place to give injection is the hind quarter. Whether it's under the skin or muscle would depend the type of antibiotic used. Sheryl at Revival.

Hello, Unfortunately, the only way to prevent your female cats from getting pregnant is to spay them. If they are indoor only cats and you don't have any male cats living with you, then you need to worry about them becoming pregnant.
🤔🤮
I hope you get those girls fixed!! I'm not sure who this person Doc is.? But, she has the worst advice!!
Spaying a female cat, especially before the first heat, helps prevent uterine infections, uterine cancers, and breast cancer

@@RevivalAnimal i see what you did there
Hi. I am doing insulin injections twice a day for our cat. I am having real trouble getting the tent in the skin and sometimes the insulin is on the fur. THere seem to be various different ways to get the right amount of skin and using different fingers! Can you help as I am losing confidence and don’t want to have to keep redoing the jabs! Thanks
Rosemary, Step 1 in giving a vaccine>
With your non-dominant
hand, make a skin tent in the
scruff of the neck by grasping
the skin between your
fingers and thumb. The grip
should be firm but not too
tight (which could be
painful).
Step 2. Lift your hand and the skin up
from the animal’s neck to
form a ‘tent’ in the skin.
Step 3. Aim for the center of the triangle
at approximately 45 degree angle
to the body surface. This method ensures
your fingers are out of the way
and the needle is less likely to be
pushed all the way through i.e.
out the other side of the skin. Sheryl at Revival. 🙂
@@RevivalAnimal Thank you so much for the detailed explanation of how to give an insulin injection. That is exactly what the vet tech told me and demonstrated. I now feel a lot more confident in starting my dear cat’s injections.
Hello Rosemary how are you doing today
Is it normal to feel a small bump where the injection was given between the shoulder blades? My cat gets a pretty good amount of medication - 1.0ml that fills up the syringe.
Sometimes a small lump will happen. Massaging the area after injecting and also injecting a slower pace can help prevent this. Sheryl at Revival.
What ML syringw should i use to give my kitten amoxy ?
Mickey 09, I would recommend a 1cc syringe so you can more accurately dose the medication according to your vets instructions. Sheryl at Revival.
Cheese for cats? Really? Are you even okay? Lol
