  • If not the original Circlevision shown at Disneyland, then a very early iteration. Disney at its best!

I came to this country in 1976, the year of the Bicentennial. Disneyland was celebrating that year and this was the first thing I saw there. It was as if America was saying welcome to this young immigrant of 10 years. I could not believe I was actually here. Happy Independence Day!

I know this is three years old but I love your comment. And I love how much immigrants tend to appreciate the USA, more than some of the people who were born here.

I went to WDW 2 years later in 1978 as a young 12 year old. Shows like this and the Presidents Hall (and the recent 1976 Bicentennial Celebrations) planted a seed in my spirit and soul to serve this country. In 1981 I enlisted and served until 2019... nearly 40 years because of Inspiration.

My parents came to this country using a Visa graciously granted to them after the Vietnam War and I am eternally grateful to be an American and am now serving in the US Navy as this country is worth defending with the deadliest weaponry known to man.

Disney really needs to restored all of their old 360 films plus the old 3D retired films on Blu Ray for collectors. Then I would be really happy.

@@zeo53 Before blu-ray or RUclips 360 VR release, They should've remaster this digitally for special engagement at Epcot's Circle-Vision theater. Buddy Baker's America the Beautiful score sounds much better than Disneyland's Disney Celebrate America Fireworks show.

I remember for years I’d make sure to visit this screening to get out of the sun and it’s awesomeness. My grandmother worked at Disneyland Hotel and got tickets for rides back when they had them from people who checked out and left them behind and later I was employed as a ride operator at Jungle Cruise and even ate a couple times at Club 33, against all odds. But the last few years they’ve changed the chemistry enough it’s harder to enjoy. Cheers Bill. Btw I miss leaning since it’s a 360 film and the cameras twist enough at times to make you feel it

Without a doubt, an incredible video. I have such fond memories of seeing this as a child. . It is so sad how things have changed so terribly for this country. It’s now very hard to imagine what this country really stood for; however, this Disney film endures for all time. They changed the narration later in a feeble attempt to downplay its patriotism. This version is the best - truly unadulterated love for America.

Originally shot in 1955 for 1958 fair and Disneyland in 11-projector Circarama 1960.
This here is a 1967 reshot version of the 1955 film in Circle-Vision 360 but it was edited and shortened as a 1980 single screen educational film print and as you can tell, the narrator is different especially the lines compared to the 1958 version.

I remember when I was about five years old when my family went to see this, even when I was that young, I was so proud and in awe of America and I wanted to see these places because they look so beautiful. I was lucky that I learned about the U.S. and its history. Since then, I've been to several different states, and I still have a lot more to see. There's a few states I've been to a few times, it's all amazing and I'm so proud of America. It's a shame that a lot of people who are born and raised here hate America, even though most haven't even been outside their own state. They let social media tell them to hate America, and I blame all the politicians for that and the schools. They have ruined to be proud of our country. Besides what social media tells anyone under 25, go out there and see the amazing sceneries and the natural beauty surrounding America. I've been to many states and met a lot of people who are kind and caring people. Even my own state has so many beautiful places to see. No country is perfect but it's sad that there's Americans think other countries are perfect, if they are, then why do so many people from other countries leave or escape their own country to live in America? Because they know life will be much better and even safer for them and they want to live that American dream.

It's hard to convey how immersive the Circlevision attraction at Disneyland was. The film surrounded you and tricked your senses, such that you felt the floor moving in unison with the view on the screens (it wasn't of course). The high quality of the film also was stunning (nothing like this poor-quality video transfer). And this poor video is only showing one of the nine high-quality screens encircling the audience, showing a 360 degree synchronized movie (kind of like virtual reality today). It was like you were standing in the middle of the marching soldiers, or traveling down the roads of Lexington and Concord. You never sat down (there were no chairs), because you were constantly turning around to see what the other parts of the scene were. It was about the best you could experience except for a 70mm film in the cinema or until IMAX came along much later. A shame they shut it down, but I understand. There's just too little space at Disneyland to keep all the attractions open forever, and Circlevision got a bit dated. Admittedly, the movie is pure saccharin, but it's a product of its time. It remains a fond memory from my childhood through young adulthood.

I have to say... this original narration, which features the poems at the beginning and end, is MUCH more moving than the later narration (from later in the 1960's I believe) which was read by Dick Wesson. I'm not sure, but I think this announcer is Lawrence Dobkin. Anyone know?

I believe it's actor Steve Forrest. He narrated a number of Disney films. This version was shown in The Disney Channel years ago and resembles more of a history lesson than the travelogue it was in the television format and different narration.
