ABOUT THE GOOD PLACE
From creator Michael Schur (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “Parks and Recreation” and “Master of None”) comes a unique comedy about what makes a good person. The show follows Eleanor Shellstrop (Kristen Bell, “House of Lies,” “Veronica Mars”), an ordinary woman who enters the afterlife, and thanks to some kind of error, is sent to the Good Place instead of the Bad Place (which is definitely where she belongs). While hiding in plain sight from Good Place Architect Michael (Ted Danson - “Cheers,” “CSI” - in an Emmy Award-nominated performance), she’s determined to shed her old way of living and earn her spot.

Your main character can't be a private investigator AND the quarterback for the Chicago Bears AND the "World's Strongest President!"
Not with that attitude they can't!
The main character is Hannah Montana

I like how one of the first "half"s is "half murder mystery" and they confirm that the murder is solved in the first 10 pages.
I forking love this show.
WHAT IS THE REST OF THIS BOOK ABOUT?
I honestly half want to read it
@@_ADINFINITUM golf tutorial
"I want you to read this book I wrote" is literally the kind of thing that you'd hear in hell.
I want to see Brent watching the Bad Place demons read the book aloud, laugh out loud at it, and roast it the whole way through. Maybe that'll give him the idea that he can't write.
Nope, he's too oblivious for that. He'll see them as jealous. Remember, he went to Princeton!
@@lenawagenfuehr53 what if they got his Princeton professors complaining about him?
@@agenttheater5 he'd probably accuse them of being jealous of their "best" student
@@LionWithAGun Well whether or not he ever gets a moment of clarity before he finds out he's actually in the bad place (they can still tell him that) the demons could probably find some ways to have 'fun' with him or at least can get a good laugh out of him - worst case scenario they just set it up so that someone else can tell him that they're both in the bad place so they can do their evil laugh and see the expression on his face, that one never gets old.
@@agenttheater5 what? if its in the bad place and they had his professors reading his book insultingly even if he knew he where in the bad place brent would just defend himself saying that everyone else took things wrong or were jealous. hell in the finale you see hes STILL in the bad place test because he refuses to get it. the demons just got stuck with someone who needs real bad place torture and is being given a redemption attempt after another
I've just realised it says at the top: 'Would've been a #1 New York Times Bestseller,' and if that doesn't tell you all you need to know about Brent, I don't know what would
When he gives the synopsis, I think he might actually be right about that.
Y'know what I would have loved? For Simone, instead of her accepting she's in the afterlife right after Chidi got into the mix, she would have gone on with her crazy behaviour to try to escape the realization that she died and there's an afterlife. It would have been cool to see her slowly accept the fact and grow a little as a person.
Don't forget, she did try in this ep. She did say that 'writing a book itself is an accomplishment' and only mentioned one of the problems she had with it and even then she tried to hold herself back and be polite "it's not exactly flattering". She only became brutally honest and kind of rude after Brent threw a tantrum and insulted them all and basically acted like a mix of a spoiled 5 year old and a douchy teenager even though he has to be in his 50s at least.
That wouldve been better. She was reduced to a complainer who was kinda selfish. Thats not how she was portrayed in S3 and her delusional response to the situation fit better.
@@shihoblade To be fair, Brent gave plenty of reasons to complain. Mostly through his own level of complaining and selfishness.
@@shihoblade In any case she seemed nicer in the finale
@@shihoblade i don't think she was portrayed as selfish, even in S3 Simone was always someone who never put up with bs or things that were not worth her time. The way she treated Eleanor after the did that crappy thing of taking her face out of the cake totally reminds me of how she deals with Brent

Last night I had a dream that Jason was the prince of a small village and he was the only one who bathed or took showers. So where there was a drought and it didn’t rain he took a bath in doctor pepper while singing toxic by Britney Spears
I love this comment so much woah

J.C. Kersh 😂 Maybe I should
Also, where is this village and could you point it out on a map? 😍
Brent is frighteningly recognizable. I imagine the actor gets a ton of abuse on the street, for portraying the character so well. AND he probably gets alt-right /proud boi types trying to befriend him, again, thinking the actor is like that irl.
He's basically just distilled boomer. If you took every ounce of what the worst parts of boomers are, and put them all in one person with no redeeming qualities.
It really is amazing how he’s really entertaining despite being so absolutely terrible. You love to watch him incessantly believe he’s the greatest because EVERYTHING about him clearly contradicts that and even if you hadn’t finished the series, you know the show’s gonna give him a real comeuppance.
I'm not sure any proud boys would be fans of The Pood Place.
@@PhilosopherWR that is the problem... The folks best served watching something like this are least likely to try it out.
The thing is there are people who are exactly like this in real life. Ones I know personally in my life. Old grouchy white men. Who just think so highly of themselves and spit on any minority or demographic. What's worse is they don't listen. They think they are too good to listen to you. Whether the actions they do are moral or not. They couldn't give an F. I hate this world. Also anyone can be like this. Stereotyping caucasian men to be the only people like this is untrue of the world. Anyone can be like this.
Eleanor, Tahani, and Simone are all smart and beautiful women. I love how Simone doesn't fall for shirt just because something says so. Much like Eleanor.
does anyone else wish that brent’s book was real so we could read it and just die at how hilariously stupid it is

I read a Mitch Rapp book and part of Ben Shapiro’s book. If a Chip Driver book is anything like those two, I’d avoid it like the plague.
where the line, as he looked at his rolex "wHicH WaS reAL" XDDDD
So the cheleanor episode is next week and Chidi get his memories back?
"So it's 3 and a half books in one?"
"At least."
I wanna read this book so badly.
I want Matteo Fumagalli to read it!🤣🤣🤣(He's an italian youtuber who reviews trash books, among other things...)
I would pay so much money for that book
Honestly, so do I.
I def think that Simone is going to be the one to find out that they’re not in the good place
jordan richardson you were right
Yup, Simone works out that Eleanor and Michael are lying to them. She doesn’t realise about tahani and Jason though
@@jayfin3950 Yup 👍
0:58 those sentences and descriptions, as well as the references. It’s like he through a library in a wood chipper and would now only use words that came out perfectly fine from the pile of newly made confetti.
I remember once calling a pizzaria and we asked for 3 flavors on the pizza, so the person was trying to confirm the order and said "half flavor X, half Y and half Z". I hinted at the mistake by saying "So its a pizza with 3 halves ?" and they answered "Yes, because its a medium pizza". At that point my disappointment was immense. His book description reminded me of that.
Is it weird that I actually want to read the book?
That's what I thought.
I have at LEAST one bottle of wine for us to enjoy while we make fun of it
To quote a terrible musician, who wrote a terrible song which, people love it so much, they keep putting it in terrible movie trailers, humans are, “b-b-b-bad to the bone”.
Do you think he earned some extra bad points for interrupting someone's meal that they clearly had only just really begun? Along with also treating people who don't work for him like they did work for him? He also did that with Eleanor and Michael when he told them to 'get back to me on it' about 'the best place'.
New theory for the good place: One of them will figure it out. It naught be Chidi, Brent, John , or Simone but I feel like one of them will figure out that they are not actually in the good place. John was already starting to notice that the good place wasn’t so good. Simone was questioning why she was in the same place as Brent after he was being rude, racist, and sexist. Chidi got in a fight and punched Brent in front of all the humans. I also think they made it way to obvious that they were trying to improve Brent and he might figure out what they are trying to do. We are 6 episodes into the season and the experiment is almost over so something has to happen that will conflict with the experiment and make it go on to all 14 episodes.
Another theory I have might be an obvious one but i think bad Janet is actually becoming good. Sure on the outside she looks and acts like a bad Janet but that’s just what she was made for. After being imprisoned in Janets void and Michael coming to tell her about the humans she learned what Michael learned about humans. She acted like she didn’t care but deep down I believe she really enjoyed his company. She seemed so surprised when he decided to let her go but also seemed very grateful and happy. Michael taught her that it’s good if you are trying to be good so she will know that even if she’s supposed to be bad, if she tries to be good she might actually improve. Also she is the one that was rebooted a bunch of times and we know by good Janet that being rebooted can make janets act outside of how they were programmed to act. When Michael gave bad Janet the book she acted like she didn’t want it but if she really didn’t want it she would’ve just thrown it or something. Instead, she clung on to it as she was walking out like she wanted to read it.
I dunno, it feels like that wouldnt work, since the cockroaches have an ace in the hole - Shawn continued to interfere when the Judge warned him against it, so if at any point they do not like the results, the Cockroaches have a free, instant do-over.
Feels like the twist is gonna be with the whole concept. The experiment is not to prove what the cockroaches think it's to prove.
If someone figures it out it would probably be Simone or John. I don’t think any of them are gonna figure it out though. I think the bad place is gonna get some revenge. This can’t be the end of the bad place
Oh please let Bad Janet say: "I'm bad and that's good. I will never be good and that's not bad."
Wow I actually got most of this right.
Bad janet did become good hunnn and stuff did happen aside from the experiment so congratss
Y’know Tahani’s right, there are worse things in fanfics than Scarlet Pakistani,... it might even also involve Elon Musk in it.
What a great episode.
Has no one noted how perfect the author photo is on the back?
Anybody else notice "Scarlett Pakistan" becomes Tahani when Michael reads.😎
I figure the way out of this is for Elanor to get Simone to design a simulation of life as someone who isnt a straight, white, rich male.
Simone gets satisfied because she gets to show Brent what it's like. Brent thinks itll be easy, and gets crushed by the experience, and begins to rethink his whole life.
Yeah makes sense kinda like what they did with The Judge when she went to earth to learn how complicated things have become
I'm thinking an appropriate punishment would be for Brent to have to work as a janitor and be paid the minimum wage so he'll have to learn how to be frugal and careful with money and to know what it's like to be bossed around after years of bossing everyone around, even people who don't work for him. Knowing what it's like to actually work for something and not have everything on tap might give him a bit more perception on life for others. That or he has to work as a tour guide at the Lourve museum seeing as he doesn't know that it is a museum but is given a copy of every book ever written on art for him to study and eventually become good at his job. But that it should come with an alarm system which will activate every time he tries to pass of what someone else wrote as his own thoughts until he learns to say that "so-and-so wrote that this may represent....personally I feel that it represents..."
1:23Eleanor from S1 would’ve loved this. She would’ve loved Brent overall, I think. And yes, I realize that’s the point of his character, but it never fails to amaze me how far she’s come, that she can turn up her nose at, essentially, a past version of herself (and that, potentially, she could’ve ended up like Brent)

Can someone please explain something. During this episode, John overheard Jason talking about his life on earth, which then led Chidi to ask John to keep quiet about. Jason had been talking to Chidi about his life for a while before the interruption, and Chidi wasn't surprised. Did I miss something in another episode where Chidi found out the truth?
There was an entire episode of Chidi discovering Jason and getting stressed out helping him. It's called "Chillaxing", if you missed it.
The plan in one of the episodes to get Chidi to start an Ethics class was to get Jason to tell him the truth and how he was a mistake and needed help

Still, she did try to hold herself back when she said "Writing a book itself is a major accomplishment" and then just said that his portrayal of Tahani was "Not exactly flattering". It wasn't a lot and she didn't hold herself back later in the ep, but just then at least, she did try. And Brent is fairly condescending himself, or at least the always acts as if he's better or knows better than everyone else ie when he told Chidi that he should teach the ethics and moral philosophy class because he got a B+ in Moral Values at Princeton, as if just being a student at Princeton makes him superior to anyone who went to a different school.
She's a condescending bench because she calls Brent out for being awful?
