Ha ha, it’s so true. Whenever I hear the old “I blacked out/memory gap” defence, I always roll my eyes and groan out loud. I mean, come on, it’s not something that EVER ever happens in any other context other than a criminal trial. When you catch up with friends, and ask them how their week has been, you NEVER hear them say - “oh, I’ve had a great week except for that part where, on Wednesday I apparently went shopping for groceries, returned home and only then did I realise that I’d totally blanked out the last couple of hours and I couldn’t work out where all the food and vegetables came from.” I mean if someone said that to me I’d be suggesting that they seek medical attention as soon as possible. I’d suspect some kind of brain tumour or dissociative disorder. I mean, come on, unless it’s backed up with impartial medical evidence, I just don’t think that “I have amnesia and don’t remember/memory gap” should still be allowed in modern day court rooms. To me it just always screams that that person is guilty.

It’s a bullshit excuse for sure, but it’s commonly used in court or interrogation because you can’t prove what someone does or doesn’t remember. It’s all about what you can prove.
This was interesting. I also watched an analysis of Nancy's body language during her trial testimony done by The Behavior Panel, which was fascinating. It was surprising that they were paying $1000/month for life insurance - especially when he only earned $34,000/year.
What an interesting story, this woman is a character and definitely not your average boring one.. I guess she thought that as a writer, she knew enough details to prevent being caught in the event she would kill her husband. That's such a sad way for a good man who still had many years to go to finish killed by the person he was happily married for more than 2 decades... Because she is a psycopath and a narcissist.. she thinks she is so smart and convincing to everyone… but it is the opposite .. she said many things , her body language and attitude in general screams guilty … very obvious
I went to insurance school and learned about term insurance and whole life insurance, but not what ever she was explaining. What type of insurance policy is that?

That woman is a fruit cake. I immediately thought she was guilty. Keep up the great work! I'm a new sub as of now.
She hadn't planned on being caught on camera driving away after shooting him. She thought she had fooled LE about changing up the Glock. What an ego! She even thought she could fool the detective in writing a letter saying she wasn't a suspect by making up a story that one of their life insurance companies required that to pay her...geez!!! She made a lot of mistakes, as most do (thankfully) in family or friend murders. Easier to catch them then. As a true crime follower, the only people that "might" get away with murders are total strangers to the victim, or like in the Delphi murders of Libby German & Abby Williams, a total stranger hiding behind an internet login ID that corresponded with them (Anthony_shots). Poor guy...he seemed like a nice guy who did a lot of good and was well respected in his field of expertise...didn't even see it coming, sadly. Pretty cold to kill your husband point blank who was good to you. God bless.
I particularly like the length of your videos. I often skip over ones where I see an hour or hour and a half. You give the whole story. Concise and no drama or dramatic music! ❤
In the trial she said some really derogatory remarks about the trauma that the student/s witnessed about that clearly showed that she did not care one single bit about that.
That whole story about her and Dan having multiple conversations about buying a gun over the course of months, finally deciding to spend hundreds of dollars (during the holidays no less) on a gun when they’re not even paying their mortgage, and immediately deciding maybe they should sell it since neither one liked it is BEYOND LUDICROUS. “We bought a gun for protection and it didn’t do its job!” 🤢🤮

That woman talking about what a wonderful marriage they had? Lady, the only people who know about the state of a marriage are the two people in it.
So true !
that's very true but then again you can be closed to some couples and know that they are meant for each other and are happy... it's not always drama and ugly scenes behind doors
@@cats.addict6457 I'll say it again. Couples can show you whatever they want in public, but unless I'm a fly on the wall when no one is around them, I'm sticking with my statement. I've seen too many crime shows.
@@peggystoutemorin4529 ok ok ok, no need to be annoyed. I also watch des tons de TrueCrime, European/American/but also Asia where I live for 35 years... and I still believe that some couples are the exact same outside than behind doors...

@@cats.addict6457 Who's annoyed? Don't read into my reply what was never intended.
A narcissist who's thinks she is charming, funny and that she can talk her way out of trouble. Reminds me of someone I know.
Exactly, the biggest give away was her wanting to get on the stand. She just had to have her say.
Spot on thought exact same thing!!
Is her name Katie??
She gives cringe new meaning.
You know one narcissist? I wish I only knew one, I have a family full of them.
This video is well done. I like how well put together your story is. Good job! 👍
I think one of the most damning pieces of evidence against her was her feigned ignorance about guns in that first police interview. "The shooter thingy..." Really?! C'mon man! If she was writing stories about murdering people, she knew the name of "the shooter thingy"!
I know, right?! She comes off as “I’m so naive, quirky and funny, you can’t possibly think I’m guilty”! But she grates.
The police interviewers deserve hazard pay for dealing with her for a prolonged period of time!
She is very cringe. A person who is very easy to dislike. My guess is her books are trash also.
My husband and I have been married for 32 years, together for 35 we are in our 60’s have raised 5 children and happily married. How a person could even think that money is happier than your spouse is just mind boggling.
Some marry for financial security, not love.
I'm with you! My husband of 33 years died from cancer. Life is horrible without him. I'd give anything to have him back and look what this stupid horrible woman did to her husband!
Nancy Hateful Brophy clearly did not love her husband -- she both used and resented him. Anyone who is capable of planning on ending the life of another human being for money isn't capable of love.... PERIOD. She is a sociopath.
Just shows Evil comes in all shapes, sizes and age..Revolting woman..
RIP Dan you never deserved this🥀
*ages
Revolting an apt description.
You never know who's out to get you.
I love that you called this “The Wrong Wife”!! 😂😂
Poetic
Sooo the only time she has a "memory gap" in her whole life is the time her husband was murdered? Lol . Thanks for another great vid !
That wouldn't even play well in a cheesy romance novel.
Ha ha, it’s so true.
Whenever I hear the old “I blacked out/memory gap” defence, I always roll my eyes and groan out loud.
I mean, come on, it’s not something that EVER ever happens in any other context other than a criminal trial.
When you catch up with friends, and ask them how their week has been, you NEVER hear them say - “oh, I’ve had a great week except for that part where, on Wednesday I apparently went shopping for groceries, returned home and only then did I realise that I’d totally blanked out the last couple of hours and I couldn’t work out where all the food and vegetables came from.”
I mean if someone said that to me I’d be suggesting that they seek medical attention as soon as possible.
Lmao 🤣
After watching her and Amber heard on the stand, it's like watching the same person.
"Was it an AR-15?"
🔼
That's a great question to ask when you learn your hubby was shot.
😂
Great follow-up question would be, "Was he shot from two feet away?" I'm surprised she didn't ask that.
Right🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@polkadots716 Right? That's a good one!
I thought of another one;
"Was my van spotted anywhere in the area?"
Lol I'm skittin here at all yer comments 😂😂😂😂

not saying i believe her but i sleepwalk/cook/write poetry.... ive even walked down the main street naked.... all in my sleep lol
Actually does happen with people who take Ambien. They drive. They shop. They cook.
I just want the detective to say, Let me remind you....
Besides being blacked out being drunk or a heavy Ambien user, both of which this lady who killed her husband was not...I agree, just never happens.
It’s a bullshit excuse for sure, but it’s commonly used in court or interrogation because you can’t prove what someone does or doesn’t remember. It’s all about what you can prove.
Goodjob Kevin love your style , calm and informative. This woman shame on her . Cold heartless killer.
Kim Baker You must have a great life as you have such low standards.
What I don’t understand is how did she only get convicted of 2nd degree murder.
Same. All of this, all of it, displays intent and planning
I think it has something to do with the way the law is interpreted in WA.Either way she will die in prison.
Plea deal to ensure conviction.
@@truthhurts2879 > she was found guilty, didn't plead
Bc it's Portlandia!
Just found your channel. You did a great job presenting this trial.
I've been waiting to see coverage of this ... I'm glad yours came up first, you always do a great job!
I truly believe they got the right person.
This was interesting. I also watched an analysis of Nancy's body language during her trial testimony done by The Behavior Panel, which was fascinating. It was surprising that they were paying $1000/month for life insurance - especially when he only earned $34,000/year.
They cld have saved 12K a year!
It was probably a whole life policy.
Tks a lot for this excellent video, kindly let us know if or when you hear of the result of the appeal
I hope you are Resting In Peace Dan!...
Because she is a psycopath and a narcissist.. she thinks she is so smart and convincing to everyone… but it is the opposite .. she said many things , her body language and attitude in general screams guilty … very obvious
What a human being!!! It is hard to believe that there are humans like her among us. OMG
I went to insurance school and learned about term insurance and whole life insurance, but not what ever she was explaining. What type of insurance policy is that?
This is my first time listening to your channel and you are really good. I like your voice. No hysterical tones, dramatic words. Excellent voice and straight forward telling of this story. That woman is a fruit cake. I immediately thought she was guilty. Keep up the great work! I'm a new sub as of now.

What a wicked old woman 👵 😮?? Makes me so sad for Dan Brophy and the people who loved and respected him. Grateful for her conviction.
They were not happily married. How can these lawyers say this? You never know what's going on behind closed doors. It was all about greed.
He probably thought they were ok. Meanwhile she's plotting his death
Agreed no one knows what goes on behind closed doors
@@joannegregory3024He was living with his enemy.
25 years together and she didn’t want to go into old age alone…well you’re gonna be surrounded a bunch of people. Terrible.
Bro that ending quote with her nodding her head gave me chills. Nice video I haven't heard your channel nor this case before.
God bless.
Very interesting ,sad case Kevin thank you for putting it all TOGETHER in a fantastic way ! Your appreciated .
Yo the minute she told the detective over the phone that she needed to know if she was a suspect,it was over!!
I particularly like the length of your videos. I often skip over ones where I see an hour or hour and a half. You give the whole story. Concise and no drama or dramatic music! ❤
This is so so sad. Not only for that man but the students who had to walk into that. I bet Nancy didn't think about that once either. Disgusting
Well, she had to realize that he would be found by his students. She just didn’t care that it would traumatize them.
Idk how I missed this notification but, I just got done watching Dreading 👀 who did a 2 1/2 hour deep dive on the case, 2 of my top 5 channels hitting me with the masterful content. I always look forward to your take on cases Kevin, you always give me something to think about. 🤔
Kevin, what an amazing video. This woman took an amazing man’s life for no reason. I hope that she will enjoy whatever sentence she gets. She is a full-on narcissist.

A story of a remarkable man who blindly loved a unremarkable and evil woman. I've never seen such a humble chef and teacher. He sounded so interesting, so generous and his students loved him more than his wife ever could. It's sad he probably knew she betrayed him in his last seconds on earth. It amazes me how so many people can't comprehend that old people were once young people. With that, you don't become a good or innocent person just based on age, Its character!

she didn't watch enough RUclips True Crime videos.

Great job Kevin, as usual!! Did I miss it? I don't remember hearing what sentence she received? Great job and I agree with one of the comments below. She was a not so clever narcissist who love to hear herself talk and thought she was smarter than everyone else.
It's hard to look at her comedic face and see a killer. But make no doubt, she's cold blooded and calculating with it.
Look at her eyes.
Her mugshot is the real Nancy. Hateful, bitter, and totally lacking in compassion.
this is always the way it is with these couples! one is always a nice person an the other is always a narcissist!
Very well done!
That quote at the end, about being careful what you wish for, because when the Gods are truely angry they grant us our wishes... I have thought that too about a relationship I eventually escaped. It sounds like she was long aware of a major discord in their life-style and plans, their way of being. But instead of having courage to move on, she got greedy and selfish.
With her act of being an amusing person I think she could fool people on the outside about her true feelings. That comment makes me speculate about the reason for her dissatisfaction, from the trivial to the bizarre.
@@dianecripps204I think with her crappy romance novels she’s delusional and sees herself as the young, beautiful and slim heroines of her novels desired by the hunks she writes about. All the things that she is not. She was married to a kind and caring man but couldn’t be happy with or value what she had, she wanted the unrealistic fantasy
Imagine living with this looney tunes of a wife for 25 years!!! Must have been pure torture! R.I.P Dan.
This is why we need to start taking certain things seriously. The fact that she was able to write that article and nobody called red flag on her character is crazy. Normal people don’t fantasize about murders.
Very good presentation and narration.
