- Daniel Brophy was an amazing chef at a culinary school in a quiet suburb in Portland, Oregon. He used to raise chickens and turkeys in his backyard, growing vegetables for gourmet, unique dishes. But one day - when he was in one of the places he felt most safe - he was gunned down and left to die. SHE DIDN'T DESERVE TO BE MARRIED TO ANYONE CARING PERIOD. SHE IS STONE COLD AND IT SHOWED WHEN SHE TOOK THE STAND. SHE'S A HORRIBLE HUMAN BEING... IF YOU WANT TO CATEGORIZE HER AS SUCH. THE RECORDED CALLS TO THE POLICE WERE SO TELLING. SHE WAS LAUGHING ON THE STAND! I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT! PLUS, SHE DIDN'T REMEMBER DRIVING AROUND THE MORNING HER HUSBAND WAS SHOT AND SUCCUMBED TO THAT SHOOTING! THAT DAY WOULD BE ETCHED IN MY MIND TILL THE DAY I DIED!! SHE WAS SO NONCHALANT ABOUT EVERYTHING. SHE DID IT. MOTIVE, OPPORTUNITY AND HOPEFULLY GAINFUL $$$$$$$ TO HER BANK ACCOUNT. I WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED, IF SHE WAS TO BE FREED SOONER THAN LIFE, SHE'D STILL TRY TO ACCESS THE LIFE INSURANCE POLICIES. IT WOULD BE JUST LIKE HER. 🙄
The fact that she was laughing about him having a bad week after she murdered him is wild. Glad nobody fell for the sweet old lady gimmick.

She surely had rehearsed it in her head. In her head, she was charismatic, funny, or even witty. In her head, she was the main character in one of her books and so she thought everyone would be taken by her charm and not suspect her. And surely no one would suspect the fuddy duddy old lady. Imo she seems like a covert narcissist to the point of being delusional and a psychopath.
Because she wasn’t a “sweet old lady” she is a nasty killer and has no remorse for killing this beloved Chef.

What's even more heartbreaking for me is the fact that Chef Brophy's students show more compassion, grief, and love for him than his own wife. These people are not even family members and yet his death wrecked them. It goes to show how truly evil Nancy is.
Good to know she got a life sentence and will not be eligible for parole until 25 years... warms my heart.

Me & my husband keep life insurance even though we're "poor." My neighbors did too, her hubby died of CV, had 4 kids (like me) & now she's not selling her house to be homeless, instead she remodeled ALOT. (Something I wouldn't do, as I would save it for me & the kid's NEEDS) but at least it prevents you from an even bigger tragedy.
Her “books” are so, so, bad. Like, people could be forced to read them as punishment.

This was the first whole trial I watched. The impact the loss of a person has is always big, but hearing all the people that were impacted at the scene itself and all the people that have lost a dear friend and good teacher hit me so hard.
If I’ve learned anything at all from watching true crime, never let anyone know you have life insurance.
When I got mine I told my ex that my new man was my beneficiary and told my new man that my ex is the beneficiary (we share a child). They're both misinformed bc it's assigned with half to go to my mother to ensure the care of my daughter and half to go in a trust for my daughter with my mom as the Trustee 😂 I know 100% that my mom will always put my girl's well being first. My mom knows but she's comfy, she's not bumping me off for money 😂

I watched the whole trial. It is a good example of the power of circumstantial evidence. Also a good example of the risk of a defendant taking the stand. She didn’t convince anyone with her attempts to explain the evidence.

Sad that having someone who loves you at your side, a decent person who values you, wasn’t worth as much as spending money for this woman.
And she doesn’t even get the money. It’s like criminals can’t do the math. Murder = jail. No money, no freedom. No husband. No grandkids. The likelihood of getting caught is really high. The risk vs reward is really low. She’s clearly living in one of her novels. I will say listening to her is annoying as heck, she’s that lady I couldn’t sit next to for 5 minutes. The fake charisma is sickening. She really thought she was pulling one over on everyone. Except she gave herself away in her writings, Hahahah. That’s what gets me.
LOVE is worth more than all the $ in the world. He was good to her & every1 & compassionate with these men so difficult to find. He didnt even cheat on her. Lori Vallow had a great man also plus good dads.😢💔🙏💔

Shawn Overstreet was masterful in his cross examination of Nancy. Let her think that he was bumbling, when he was setting a trap all along, one she talked herself into.
I’ve watched that cross examination at least 10 times. It’s great!

Great to hear more from Prosecutor Shawn Overstreet on this case. I have watched his cross examination of Nancy too many times to count. He was phenomenal and the ultimate opponent for Nancy Brophy. Great recap of this case with rare photos and footage of Dan.

Oh boy...She would have left his wallet in their house and the police would have found it. She was not a smart cookie. (Just the few sentences of her writing that were shown are enough to see she was NOT a good writer.) First sentence: ‘I am a ROMANTIC suspense writer.’ Oh, really? As far as her motive, it's not exactly a big mystery... Money! Plain and simple. It's hardly relevant that Dan was a good guy, a good husband and never cheated on her... There's no way to know if she actually loved him -- or if she was even capable of loving someone other than herself. A simple truth is that some people are perfectly happy to kill a "loved one" for financial gain.
