Beautiful cover by one beautiful soul of another beautiful soul. Miss you in this world Tom Petty . You make us all believe we can ride the stream of infinite creative waters. Thank you Ms.Super Nora !
That song is beautiful. The first time I heard it I was stunned and taken back . Before my youngest daughter was born I had a dream of her , I met her and I traveled in my dream . It was if that song was written about my wonderful dream of my daughter.
Hal Raster It would be respectful to also acknowledge the late, Tom 🎩 Petty's name here, to do with this song that "you love," and that Tom wrote. Thank you. 🌹
HI!!! The special thing about Nora, there is a story in every song. You can put yourself in that place and take your mind off your worries. Thank you Nora.
And you thought the Stevie and Tom duet was good.....IMAGINE Norah and TP together! Man, I miss that dude. Keep on rocking Norah. I was never really into female vocalists. Now? I’ve got just about everything you’ve done- a very special and talented lady for sure
My friend is going to play this for my fiancée and I’s first dance as husband and wife at our wedding, which was supposed to be June 27th but is going to have to be next year now. 😢😷. My Grandma is 100 years old and was going to make it to our wedding, so pray with me that she gets to come at 101! Thank you so much for playing this song. Love. -Sean
I have very serious disorders of the blood going on with me! Factor V Leiden and Factor 2 DNA genetic disorder that makes my blood clot. I almost died last year from a pulmonary embolism. I had like five doctors told me how lucky I am to be alive. But I question that all the time??? Your music and the very preciousness of your voice make my days go by so much easier🥰😻 Thank You Miss Norah💔❤
Im only allowed to like a video once...So ill leave another comment. Tom's proud of the beautiful job you did with his beautiful song and I thank you again for sharing.
WOW !! From a simple place !! No professional sound studio ..A true Artist.. Musician and a composer in her own right, and you hold my attention. You are and always have been amazing..
Another sweet and calming morning while watching and listening. A cup of hot tea and thinking Thank God it was not too late. To love, to change and to make thinks better. As always, Ms. Norah thanks for the nice morning. Have a good one from The Philippines💕🇵🇭
Norah, you did not just sing a song to us, you explained it to us, and touched our hearts in a very deep lace. You made it look easy. Thank you for reminding me I am alive. That is such a lovely song.
Colin Kelley Yes, it is such a lovely song, a love song actually, that Tom had said he considered he & his beloved wife Dana's Love 💞Song. He first wrote it about & for Dana, after simply seeing her face at a first serendipitous encounter. And in his biography has said, "I literally fell in love at first sight!" 💘 It's wonderful that Nora's beautiful voice "touched you in a deep place," as she sung Tom's "Angel Dream." But I must say I am puzzled as to your stating that, to you, she explained the song for you? 🤔 How? In what way? The words/lyrics are Tom's and not hers, and the story is so well written, that it needs no explanation. A singer is honoring a musical artist by singing a cover of one of their songs. I love Nora's rendition, but that has to do with the sound her own voice gave to the song. Any feeling one gets from the "story" contained in the lyrics of this song are courtesy of the song's Songwriter, and that is Tom Petty, and not Norah Jones. She would certainly agree. ☮️ 🌹
@@rosemarywaldron497 I don't want to take anything away from Tom Petty. He was a great song writer, singer and musician. I loved the part he sang in the song "End of the Line" by the Traveling Wilburys. But songs are immediate, here and now. That is why we prefer concerts over recorded music. Songs are written and then have a life of their own. Every time a song is sung, even if we know it and recognize it and can sing along, it can be like it is sung for the first time. It is magical. Singing it again can add interpretation and meaning. Different people with different kinds of voices and interpretations give different kinds of nuances, and that can touch us in deep places. It is not just the meaning of the words, it is how the combination of words and melody and the singing of them together touch our emotions. Bob Dylan wrote and sang the song "You Ain't Going Nowhere." At the time it was amazing. His singing it was amazing. Then along came the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and they sang and recorded it their way -- same song, different interpretation. It was totally different. They sang it from memory and accidentally changed a couple of key words. They changed the meaning that Dylan had intended. Dylan called them on it, but he liked what they did so much he changed the song. The next time he sang that song he did it their way. One of my favorite songs is Dylan's "Forever Young". When I think of that song, I will always remember how Norah Jones sang it at the Steve Jobs memorial in Silicone Valley. It is not just the song, the words and melody but also the event. I knew Steve Jobs. It touched me deeply. Many husbands and wives have a song that, to them, is "Our Song". Rosemary, I probably have not answered your question. Music is we interact with emotionally and subjectively. The same song can affect us differently at different times and places. Sorry, that's the best I can do.
@@colinkelley6493 What a beautiful, thorough, thoughtful, heartwarming reply! ❤️ You answered so graciously, and sincerely on what I had been puzzled about in your original comment. What you so kindly took the time to express, and explain certainly can occur.. All of those factors, and nuances come into play when we listen to one musical artist covering a song of another musical artist. A person as intelligent, and sensitive as you could obviously tell that I am a devoted Fan of Tom Petty. And, like a number of his fans, feel very protective of his music legacy, and of him. One of the many things about Tom's songs, (that makes both the songs, and Tom, so special to his many fans,), is that he often wrote about things that had personally happened in his life, people who crossed his path, places that held a special meaning, the trials, and joys of life; life lessons. There is a phrase that one fan of TP"s coined just a few months after Tommy passed. And, it is truly how I feel, as well as how many of his fans feel about TP. "Tom Petty is the Best Friend, that I never met." 🎩❤️ I feel such a closeness to him because of how much he let us know him, and the wealth of emotion he conveyed in his songs. That all contributes to why I made my original comment. I hope, and believe that you will better understand why I was taken aback before, by the idea that Nora, or anyone else, could possibly explain Tom's story (his lyrics meaning) better than Tom. 🌹☮️💟
@@rosemarywaldron497 I understand and appreciate how you feel. I get it. You identify the depth of the song with the depth of the person who wrote it and how he sang it. Words fail me. Tom Petty was enormously talented and gifted, but he was also just a really good, nice, sensitive, every day, normal, person, a good friend, a good husband, a good father, and he treated his fans as friends. His music somehow had all of those attributes in it, ... plus it had Tom himself -- who he was, sensitive and unpretentious. "Free Falling" is probably the most successful single song in history because it has everything you were talking about in it. And nobody else could ever sing it. OK, having said that, to me, Norah Jones is just as special and deep for all the same reasons. Anything she sings is going to be her singing it. She, that is to say, her person, is somehow mysteriously in everything she sings. Her spirit and her soul is pumped into that music. I am not just experiencing the song, I am also experiencing her. Norah singing that song is a different experience than Tom singing that song. You may disagree, but I feel I can be respectful of one without being disrespectful of the other. In my mind, I am not arguing with you or disrespecting your point of view. I am glad you spoke up. This has been an interesting conversation.
