I've been doing leather work for over 20 years as a hobby but now that I'm disabled and can't work, I'm trying ti turn it into a small home based business. I do all kinds of medieval works, holsters, sheaths, even artwork to hang on the walk. I've taken snd adopted several of your techniques and tips into my work. I watched the saddle holster video 3 years ago and it started my journey into leather working. I made a few holsters and sold a few. In the end I found small leather goods and bags were a better fit for me. I still make a few holsters now and then but there are many makers out there with more skill in holsters. All that being said I am so glad I watched Sam make that first holster because of what it has given me in my life. I will watch any video you put up with Sam making something in it. I was try to use Al Stohlman pattern for a shoulder holster but it went a bit pear shaped on me. Lol Thanks again Sam.

you're welcome Conquest...hmm, tough decision, if it's a really snazzy 1911 I'd go for an exotic skin Monarch, or a spring break with extra mag holders, lol I know that prob doesn't help
Thank you for the enjoyable video. Leatherworking is an ancient, impressive craft I hope to someday learn and this video is a good reminder of that. This fellow also has a good speaking voice he could be the Bob Ross of leatherwork or do books on tape/voice acting.

Excellent leather craftsmanship and what a beautiful holster you make! I have watched the video on how to measure and make a pattern, I’m getting there with my own version but it’s takes time and patience to make these holsters. Keep the videos coming! 👍

It would be lovely if you coul make a video about the carjacker holster ( how its made) or to just show how to work with stingray leather ( its very hard and there are not such videos that are teaching it). If anyone has been thinking about getting a holster from Andrew's custom leather i HIGHLY recommended them i have one of Andrew's holster it's the best holster i own.

Spring assembly: Why not to lubricate? Use wax in spring and perhaps at inner channel in the leather before gluing/stitching it together.

I own three Andrew's holsters..G19 ...CZ75B ..........GP100 ... Best holsters I own ...l use a little Mink oil to keep em conditioned. Sam looks a little bit like Bill Clinton (when bill was like 25) ...Good job mate ,best holster maker on the planet!!!

I have a 500 S&W magnum with a 6.5 inch semi-lug barrel. I use only open sights. The revolver unloaded weighs just over 60 ounces. Is this able to be made for my size revolver?

Where does Sam source his blades that he uses to cut out the leather shapes? They seem fairly unique - I've been using a round knife but this seems so much easier.

I"m curious about the patterns. Does Sam have a "master" pattern that he traces when a working pattern is becoming worn out and a new one is needed? I've learned with wood working if you trace a pattern then use that piece of cut out wood for the next pattern, then repeat that process, the pattern will grow over time. So its wise to use the same piece over and over as the pattern. (does that make sense?). I was wondering if Sam followed that process as well?

What is the preferred glue? Oh I see you said Barge cement not contact cement?
Sam is doing one of these for my light weight model 329PD revolver with a 4.25 inch ported barrel. I called we spoke and I will be contacted when he begins making the holster. But the Monarch being free floating makes me question that? My model 329PD only weighs about 30 ounces so the Monarch may be better?

Not a fan of leather holsters. They may look great when new but require maintenance to keep looking good and maintain function. I am more of a functionality type kind of guy don't like fancy wooden stocks (unless it is going to be a walk hanger)
But if someone were to make this style in nylon and kydex for a reasonable price I would be all over it.
understood Kirk, I think everyone has their preferences for sure (especially when it comes to purpose of use), at the same time leather holsters built right are pretty tough, comfortable and not as much maintenance as it looks. Thanks for taking the time to check this out
Its like anything made out of leather. As you wear it for many years it gets better over time and forms to you. Like Your belt, shoes or jacket. Yes it will get scuffs, dings and dents but that's what I like about leather. It shows the use and the love you have for it.
