Giygas is attacking from the past inside the Lost Underworld. Some drastic choices need to be made to go there...
Key Notes:
Here, Poo gains his strongest PSI: PSI Starstorm omega. He better be stocked with PP healing items or else his PP will get eaten whole... Since Ness is a one-man army, Poo shouldn't be assisting that much.
The Phase Distorter becomes your home/hospital/phone to talk to Dad to save your game. It cannot be used to return to the present.
YOU SAVE YOUR GAME HERE, YOU'RE STUCK FOREVER, MAN/WOMAN.
The strongest enemies are found in here. In addition to the ones plaguing Onett, the Final Starman is added for good measure. It can revive fallen enemies and use PSI Starstorm omega too.
You shouldn't really use PSI at all. Physical attacks do the work just fine. You'd want to have all the PP you can get for the final boss.
Lastly, the enemies have some nice drops. The Wild 'n Wooly Shambler drops Multi-Bottle Rockets every 8/128 chance (I know, still low) and the Bionic Kraken drops the Gutsy Bat (1/128...still very low).
Main Task:
1) Navigate the cave to the north.
Comment:
Yeah, don't ask me why Giygas is now in the past or where he's in the present. I have a theory that kind of works with some pro- gets a short fuse in his brain
Watch, enjoy, and comment, everyone.
What i really like about this game is that when you start playing it, it seems so innocent almost like a child's game but the more you play it, the creepier and more disturbing it gets.
Right
Shigesato Itoi displaying his trauma of seeing "Military policeman and the dismembered beauty"
It's a message of growing up
Yep. The soundtrack perfectly embodies that
For some reason, Ness' dad saying "I hope you get over your cold soon" breaks my heart. :(
But he recovered
@@Alexproxd84 not if you play the Halloween hack he doesn't.
@@BlueBerry20071yes, but who cares about a hack made by a guy who calls himself a "fox" and represents himself as an annoying dog, who makes jokes with potassium, who makes a room for a character, but the bed is for his motorcycle , who makes a skeleton with bad jokes and who made one of the greatest indie games??

Transfering the brain program into a robot...Earthbound was the original Black Mirror.
SpongeBob too
I like how even without any change in music, the mood quickly changes from a triumphant march to the final boss to being told you must give up your body, possibly for good, just to have a shot at saving the world.
the trumpets are more scary than the cliff song
FranStudios But the trumpets are the cliff song
Thank The Beatles for the sample. And the Beach Boys for the one in the cave in the past. Look for "Deirdre". It'll chill your spine
@mishke it is fucking terryfing
the cave that time forgot is so, so terrifying... even more terrifying than the cave of the past. they could've used some cheesy classic old cave music for it, but they used that isolating, eerie sound to repeat over and over again. It has an echo. It is composed of trumpets, sounds of human invention, but they are organized in a fashion and location far removed from any human activity. That dissonance between the triumphant, aged sound of the trumpets, and their confused, isolating, alien composition, is just... haunting...
What’s more powerful than Gigyas? The phone that Ness calls his dad on while he is 1000s of Years in the past
It could be eons even.
Its stated the point in time ness goes back to is a point after nintens battle with Giygas , but hey it's Earthbound so watha heck right
The music is so triumphant it's like as if to say "well done on getting this far, your almost at the end of the game"
Really? I get a sense of mystery and foreboding from this music. This mysterious place under the earth filled with dark abysses everywhere helps give that vibe too
It feels like the end of the journey, trumpets echoing off like they’re being played at the summit of a mountain
Its triumphant because this is the location Giygas was defeated but in the past
@@m74568 holy shit you're right
6:56 has a nice rhythm to it.
I always wondered what the cave of the past looked like in present time and how powerful Giygas was if you fought him in the present.
If Giygas was in the present, they wouldn’t need to become robots and go to the past. Dr. Andonuts said Giygas was attacking in their exact location but only in the past, which doesn’t make sense with time but what makes sense in Earthbound anyway
I have too.
Well you can see the cave of the past in present times when it's all green with the Trompete music
Giygas fights you in the past because after you collect the 8 sanctuaries and become one with earth, he retreats to the past along with Porky so that he will have time to become more powerful. Porky stole the Phase Distorter V.1 to warp to the cave of the present and Giygas helped him travel to the cave of the past without a robot body. Giygas would probably be as equally as powerful without his mind being corrupted and destroyed by all the grief if he fought in the present, and the creation of the Phase Disorter 3 would be pointless.
@@catpip_ well, since you travel back to defeat him, we can assume it's a paradox where in present giygas is already defeated, it's just that ge can't be completely destroyed, so he remains in some form in ness' time, living as greed and corruption in the hearts of the people. I mean, if giygas is the embodiment of evil, then he will never be truly destroyed, as no matter what, he'll exist as long as people are greedy or corrupt.
This Is Why Ness And His Party Members Transformed Into Robots!
I just realized that the animation of you traveling in the phase distorter is the same as giygas’ attack
0:26 - Sample from 'All You Need Is Love' by The Beatles! ;-)
"Ness, you like to work hard, just like your mother. But I don't think it's good to work too hard."
"Yeah, don't worry dad. I only had some crazy scientist transport my brain into the body of a robot and used a time machine to go way back into the past to destroy an evil fetus alien, who is attacking our present day world from said many years in the past, with my three best friends, who I have only recently met, to save the world. Okay, yeah dad, I might be going slightly delusional because of the cold. Yes, I'll tell Pokey you said hi."
Undreated comment !!!
Lmfao
Giygas traveled to the past to kill Ness while he was still young so there would be no hope
What I still can’t wrap my head around is why Giygas thought it would be a good idea to go into the past, then commence his invasion of the Earth while being 1000 years in the past. Like… how does that work?
Everything, the old recording, the context you give it if you play Earthbound the first time, and this song in particular... Each time you Jeep playing it changes the context to something even worse as you continue until the end of the game, that's one of the things why I love the Earthbound/Mother saga, The Cliff That Time Forgot is a very empty theme, as if you were on the edge of the deep abyss, but you feel, on the one hand, some hope, hope for something... And this is one of the hardest parts of the game, Andonuts, with his thoughts and, the burden he must carry, knows that he must transform Ness and the others into machines, their lives and the fate of the world left in his hands...
What would have happened if everything failed?
Well that's EBHH
if you think about it Dr. Andonuts put children's souls into robots... sound familiar?
*IT’S BEEN SO LONG INTENSIFIES*

That would honestly be the most painful thing to ever experience
@@nightlust Literally getting your soul ripped away from your body
@@RamiCrafy just the fact that it's the brain, with all the knowledge, capabilities of their human bodies (PSI, stats and so on)
That'd technically mean their muscles, nervous system and all that... Terrifying
@@nightlust yeah sorry I meant consciousness not the soul itself (although it might be too)
@ramicrafy It Feels There’s No Fear Or Anxiety Anymore.
Unpopular Opinion: Earthbound is a Cosmic Horror game
When you go to the past, there's no turning back...
Wait What is your theory About Giygas bieng in the past?
pokey looks at the apple of enlightment and he sees that the him and giygas will be deafeted so pokey makes a plan leading him to steal the phase disorter 1so he can attack before the world even EXISTED but dr.adonuts invents a second phase distorter that can go through space and that one takes them through the 1/2 cave of the past then in the future dr.adonuts makes a 3rd pashe distorter and this on and go through time and so ness and his friends use it before pokey and giygas attacks and since pokeys already in the past giygas knows he'll lose becuase of the apple of enlightment and giygas is basically the evil power so his own power of PSI destroyed his own mind so hes having ALOT OF mixed emotions barely having CONTROL over what he's doing and since hes the evil power hes super duper evil and the only positive act to win and do is to pray but giygas already knows this will happen and giygas can beat all of ness's friends easily and that means almost everyone in the UNIVERSE had to pray JUST TO BEAT GIYGAS
