    Love it for the same reason I love my Corsair 600. Inverted ATX (mATX in this case) is the only way a windowed case works for me. My unique living room layout forces my case to the left of my desk. I wish more manufacturers would make at least one inverted case.

    I'd like to see this inverted setup tested with 2 top intake fans, rear fan intake, front exhaust x2, all air cooled.

  • @Icebr34ker
    @Icebr34ker 2 года назад +1

    Got the case myself.
    And tried various cooling configs. With an AIO in the front.
    Fans in the roof have to be intakes! Since otherwise they are working really badly against the graphic card ones. Especially if your graphics card sits one slot higher (2nd slot) like some matx boards do. I tried it for fun. It’s bad.
    Silverstone wants the front to be intakes (hence the dustfilter). But that leaves the case with 4x140 intakes and a comparable tiny 120 as exhaust in the back. That’s just unbalanced and the tiny 120 can’t make the air escape the case quick enough. So heat builds up a lot in the case.
    Solution is to have two 140s in the front as intake and one 120 as exhaust in the back. No fans in the roof. Graphics cards fans will supply themselves just fine.
    Or switch everything around. 120 in the back as intake. 2x140 in the roof as intake. 2x140 in the front as exhaust. Get rid of the dustfilter in the front. (Looks nicer for RGB anyways since the filter got really ugly bars in it). Although this config is one of the optimum configs for this case, it’s not super efficient as well since the heat is then a bit stuck behind the front glass panel.
    Overall I have to say cooling is a bit mediocre in this case. And you have to make up for it with brute force aka noise.

    I had the epic Silverstone FT 02 and combined with the 90 degree change in motherboard and brilliant penetrator fans in the base meant dual sli gpu's and whole system was so cool it's the only way without water cooling for keeping sli cool as traditional setups means one gpu is hotter than the other. However this setup begs the question why?

  • @unclerubo
    @unclerubo 6 лет назад

    In that form factor, and with an inverted motherboard layout as well, I liked the Raijintek Thetis. You have less storage options, but once you invert the back fan to work as an intake and add two top fans, it works really well. I built a system in it for my ex, and it looked amazing, except for the four thumb screws holding the side panels. And it can hold full ATX mobos!

    I actually bought this case. True to this review, the only reason I bought it was that I was already using an mAtx form factor, and my desk layout is such that having the computer on the opposite side is beneficial. BTW, the case does much better for thermals with top intake fans.

  • @scythelord
    @scythelord 6 лет назад +1

    This is the old ATX standard layout just with the feet on the case placed on the other end. It also has superfluous front fans which you would only put there for RGB, nothing more as they cannot blow air in the case.

  • @DefMunkyYT

    I do wish more companies made inverted board cases for the exact reason you mentioned. My desk has a hutch and the only spot I can put a computer where I can see it (why would you get a TG case if you can't see it?!?! lol) is on the left hand side. Still looking for something to replace my old Temjin TJ08-e. The airflow on this must be horrific. If they removed the optical drives and external 3.5" slot from the Temjin, I bet they could get two 180mm fans in the front, plus add some more top ventilation. That would be so much better than this.

    While it looks gorgeous and does a lot of stuff well, they did mess up with cooling and main reason is very limited air intake. The case draws air only from small openings on the top and bottom of front panel, and it's not enough. They also made a large "blind spot" on the top part on front part, after you take the front panel off, right above the fans. They should have moved intake fans up, all the way to I/O ports, that would allow top fan to get some more air. Ideally, they should have made intake holes on the side of front panel, a la NZXT H400 or FD Define, but hey didn't. As for GPU, having it draw air from the top, exclusively for itself, is not a bad idea, that's one of the benefits of inverted layouts.
    SIlverstone tried to make a spiritual successor to their Temjin TJ08 MicroATX case, which was pretty famous. It also had the inverted design, something Silverstone is known for. They didn't think the details through, it seems...
    Also, I like MicroATX form factor. It's a good compromise between portability and features. For example, I have a FD Define R4 case and I hate how big and cumbersome it is, even sitting on the floor. It's unneccessarily large for majority of users and use scenarios. MicroATX means I would have smaller case while keeping all the features of a regular size board as well as ease of use, without constraints and limitations of MiniITX format. I wouldn't even need a regular ATX. It's a shame motherboard manufacturers are neglecting this format, they shouldn't...

    Looks like a nice case to build small oven. No intake ventilation at all, rubbish.
    Please empathise this aspect. For PC chassis not being able to cool components is like for a car not to drive. Doesn't matter how good it looks or how comfy and well fitted is inside. It's disqualifying.

    • @PejicVladimir
      @PejicVladimir 6 лет назад +5

      Intake comes from the top of the case. I've had this case for two months now, no issues at all.

    • @randalldraco3822
      @randalldraco3822 6 лет назад

      So: U can mount 2x 140 mm Fan pulling air from top directly to GPU. CPU will be suffocated especially on tower air cooler. If U block the one exhaust with 120 mm CPU AIO, which is not enough for high end 8 Core CPU's Ull end up blocking the only real exhaust. Doesn't matter that U have 2 x140 mm intake if U have only one 120 mm exhaust blocked by radiator. So U'll end up with lots of positive pressure, and air will be getting out every possible hole, mostly on the back through the little piece of mesh by pci slots. VRM's are going to end up with no real ventilation.
      Ultimately You are working against physics, where hot air would go up, and pulling this hot air again back to the chassis by intake at the top.
      The fact that UR pc works in it doesn't mean that it works as it could do in proper chassis, and furthermore, doesn't mean that the components will last longer in it while constantly overheating.
      I'm absolutely sure, coz once upon a time I bought similar piece of rubbish and ended up with front panel taken off all the time. I bought it because it didn't cross my mind that professional PC chassis constructing company would sell product so badly engineered, with messed up obvious basics.
      Now my PC is in Farctal Design Meshify C, mainly based on GN tests and the fact that it looks great.

    wrong wrong wrong, ur proofing stuff in the wrong way. The cooling should be instake from the top down and past on the GPU (blower is best) to the CPU where the back fan (and the front) team up to cycle the head away)
    Incase of water cooling its recommended to put the Water cooling in the front with Fans that can greate great amount of sucktion.

      Leo here: This case comes without fans so you cannot simply look at the factory fitment and proceed from there, however the manual shows drawings of the fans intaking at the front and exhausting at the rear. Reversing the airflow would make a certain amount of sense however it would be helpful for SilverStone to spell out the options. As for close-minded, no, not really.

    its not ATX its BTX FROM INTEL Balanced Technology eXtended) is a form factor for motherboards, originally intended to be the replacement for the aging ATX motherboard form factor in late 2004 and early 2005. YOU WOULD KNOW THAT IF YOU WAS WORKING ON COMPUTERS BACK IN 2000s The ATX and BTX standards were both proposed by Intel. However, future development of BTX retail products by Intel was canceled in September 2006 (c)wp

    • @KitGuruTech
      @KitGuruTech  6 лет назад

      Leo here: BTX is an Intel form factor that never took off. It moves the lower part of the motherboard above the CPU, so essentially the two halves swap over. It makes sense thermally but never came to pass. I don't think I ever saw a BTX board, despite starting work in this sector some years before 2006. The board you see in this review is a regular mATX that has been inverted.
