  • It's been 1 week since my laminectomy microdiscectomy surgery on my L5/S1 disc. The surgery was successful and I've been adjusting to post surgery recovery life and new timelines!

Hi! I'm from the Philippines. I'm 3 weeks post-op. I was in severe pain for a long time before I decided to get surgery. Best decision I've ever made. I was on so many pain meds for a long time, fentanyl and oral morphine included. I got surgery at 7am and I was standing up and walking at 3pm. I went home the following day. Everything's good so far. Thanks for the video! This was me exactly haha cool!

I was given Gabapentin for nerve pain. It made me nausea before my surgery .

My disc herniation is at L5S1 also and my microdiscectomy is in 10 days; I'm told by someone who had the surgery that I'll need to get a bedpan because of the no movement rule. Did you have to use one?

No bed pain needed! But a toilet seat riser is one of the most recommended items on Reddit for surgery. You will be told no bending, lifting, twisting, pushing or pulling, BUT you will need to be walking around after surgery. Learn the log roll out of bed. I have a "how to prepare for a microdiscectomy" and a "most common questions" video on my page. Good luck! I hope you feel better soon.

Your nerve is healing so it's expected.

Hey.. is it healed or you still feel the same as I had a laminectomy and discectomy three weeks ago and I still feel tingling in my right leg and some pain in my calf after walking. If you have felt the same problem how did you deal with it and how did you recover?
