I'm so glad I had this done! Make sure you check out your surgeon's reviews! I had this done (not this doc) after prednisone and muscle relaxers were prescribed to no avail. The surgery had my pain gone the next day, some post op pain for a few days. I rested and refrained from bending, twisting and lifting for almost a month and kept to very short gentle exercises. I'm now 5 weeks out and walking miles every day, feel great!! I do recommend walking from day one, starting slow and short.
This gentleman operated on both myself and my sister (Marge), both operations were successful (although neither were for lumbar microdiscectomy). Trust me when I tell you this, you want this guy as your neurosurgeon. Google his name and you will get his office number. At his skill level he's very busy and you will have to wait for an appointment, but he is worth waiting for.
Just had a discectomy a week ago after almost 3 months of excruciating pain. It took me that long to convince the New Jersey doctors how much pain I was in. Given meds to control the pain after the operation. The pain now is about the same as before the operation. Meds work for about 2 1/2 hours and then the pain resets in. I am now out of the pain med, the one and only pain med and can't get any more because the insurance company says it's too soon. I am sick of being tortured. This guy is living in a day dream.
Actually yes please answer how you are feeling now. I had this surgery 2 weeks ago, today is day 14. And the pain was gone at first but I am feeling it again. I can say it doesn’t start when I do some movements that in the past I couldn’t do like putting on my socks. But I would like to know if you got better over time as I’m hearing that happens often
@@rvvalencia9629 a little worried that I started moving a little too soon. I haven’t went back for my 3 week appointment yet so idk what’s normal and not but I do have pain doing some things. Giving that I also don’t have pain when doing somethings that caused pain in the past. Wish the guy in the original comment would respond cause I would love to know how his process is going
Hello, I have a question regarding core engagement. I just recently had a microdiscectomy (5 days ago). And I had previously learnt how to engage my transverse abdominals correctly. My core is at its strongest it’s ever been and have learnt how to engage pretty much all the muscles around my torso (obliques, rectus abdominis, internal and external obliques). I wanted to know how much I should be engaging my core at this time and if there is any danger in engagement at all? I was worried I would put too much compression on my lower back by too much engagement. . Or is it good that I am engaged, I’ve heard it supports your back like a internal corset. Could you advise please?
I'm almost 2 weeks out and I am having excuscating pain in back and leg . When standing and trying to walk getting up from sitting position. Worse than before surgery. I am no way able to do much walking or driving etc.
@@Cynthbirdlover ....I have spinal stenosis L4 & L5 , also sciatica pain on my right side. I can't stand up for a long period of time. I have to sit for a few minutes then I'll get up and finish what I'm doing.
@@gregstarkcindywelsh1065 I’m sorry to hear that :( I’m scared to do surgery now. My friend also had l4/5 and sciatica he did 5 sessions of acupuncture with a Korean specialist and got better, his sciatica went away but he also did daily stretches and worked with chiropractor once.

Wow. A month out. After things got really, really bad, I'm back to where I was before surgery. This video is definitely not my experience!

I had this procedure done in 2015. It didn't help, it's worse than it was. I still have pain.
Oh dear, is it sciatic pain or herniated disc back pain? I’m scared I have surgery coming up

back surgery is a scam never do it!
It appears you may have central canal stenosis. A laminectomy with possible a fusion might have been a suitable operation for you
No way
