Sailors who traveled the known world called Puerto Rico the island of enchantment for a reason. Love our island, love our food, our diversity, our culture, our music. Why you think we so prideful lol. Yo soy boricua!! Pa'que TU LO SEPAS!
Absolutely phenomenal experience. It will forever be engrained in my fond memories. Planned a trip on a new moon and got lucky enough to find a tour guide with no other bookings. A real personal and out of this world experience. Seeing a sand shark literally glow neon blue underneath my kayak was spectacular. Very blessed for the experience and recommend it to everyone, if it’s still a viable activity.
Mike Corey I have! All of them are beautiful, but the Mosquito Bay have the biggest concentration of this microorganism. You should return to the Island and visit all of them and other amazing places that this place have. 😊
Mosquito Bay is the best on the planet. This video was taken around when there were 750,000 dinoflagellates per gallon. After hurricane Maria the numbers jumped to over 2 million. It’s better now than it ever has been! You can easily capture video and photos on your iPhone 11 or higher.
My Wife and I visited beautiful Puerto Rico and Vieques 2 years ago. We loved its beautiful scenery and its beautiful people. We are very grateful to have had such a special experience there.
My mothers family is from that island, I went there so many times as a child. However, moved to the states for 20 years, I went back and it was definitely magical all over again, I cried. You become one with the universe…truly!
My 15 yr old daughter just experienced this with her dad this week! I have heard if it but had to look it up and found your video. She wants to be a marine biologist so this was beyond exciting for her! It's on MY bucket list now. Such fascinating creatures in our world!
Went there in '89, unbelievable, one of the most amazing experiences we've ever had, swimming at midnight with sepadarated fingers and 10 streams of fire between our fingers, mind blowing.
My Dad was an American diver. At 45 ( 20 years ago) he moved here to live & dive. He died because of accident related to diving. But at least he did what he loved❤ experiences over possessions ❤ I love watching this.. it makes me smile.
Was there many years ago and will never forget night starry skies. On a tour a small group went for a dip in the waters. I was neon clise all the way back to the hotel. Must do bucket list adventure. Memorable and romantic.
i started crying 😞 i miss puerto rico so much my home my island lord look how beautiful and the song of coquis dios mio thank you for posting this💖 reminds me of how beautiful this island will always be
Vieques is seriously an underrated place, my entire family was there for my uncles wedding and it was the best vacation I’ve ever had! Wish i could go back there every year, one of the coolest and most unique places in the western world!
omg!!! mike thanks so much for showing the beauty of my island, Puerto Rico!!! you're more than welcome to come back and enjoy other beautiful places in here, and of course the food, folklore and just have fun... Blessings to you, Josh and Cody!!!
What great memories you brought us, Rick. I was stationed on Vieques when the US Marines had a small logistics base there. While it was an unaccompanied base (the military would not transport your family to the camp,) the commanding officer allowed us to bring our families down and live on the economy. This year was to be one of the best years of our lives. We sailed, shelled, Scuba dove, and had many picnics on "blue beach." We did have to guard our camp as "cowboys'" would raid ours picnics. Thanks, again, for the memories!
I cant believe you were able to catch these images. I went to college and Puerto Rico and I was able to travel to Vieques a couple of times and the Bio is just truly amazing. Wow! (FYI your video with Ale was hilarious). Subscribed!
+Mike Corey Hi Mike, thanks for posting this amazing video. I'm going to the island in two weeks, and I've been reading comments about difficulties seeing the light on other cameras. Do you mind sharing the general configuration of the low light settings of your camera?
+Mike Corey Thank you so much for this video, it's made me more excited for my trip! I will be in Vieques in the beginning of May, right around the time of the New Moon. Unfortunately, the A7S is well beyond my budget! Any other camera recommendations?
+darshyful Hey! Sorry I missed this. You'd have to bring along this specific camera. I'm not aware of any others can can shoot at ISO 256000+. You'd need a good lens too, one that can open up to f/1.8 at least.
Okay young man, you and your videos are the very best I have ever seen!! I am making it my mission to pass your channel along to all I know ( which really isn't to many ) and asking them to pass along this link to share you with all those they know.......you have a gift with that face and personality, then you top it off with AMAZING videography and such great editing skills.......wow. THANK YOU!!!!
That was amazing! I have witnessed the same bioluminescent planktons here in the Philippines, specifically in Palawan. Too bad I didn't have a camera with good enough power to record this awesome phenomenon. As always, great content Mike!
That's so amazing you we're able to capture the glow of the bay on the A7S! I've been there before but have never been able to show how cool it was. You video definitely captures the amazement! Great job!
The Bio Bay is an absolute must!! If you guys do this when you go in December, a tip to make the experience better is to see if you can find a company that offers clear canoes. They are a few extra bucks but totally worth it. We rented one and it was seriously the most amazing thing I had ever seen in my entire life!! It felt like we were floating on billions of bright blue diamonds!! We've been to Vieques four times and fell in love with it during our first trip. A great place to vacation for sure. The locals are some of the most polite and friendliest people we've ever met. So kind and geniune. During a Friday or Saturday night locals all join up on the Esperanza Strip and play music and dance. There are little tents set up with people selling local things too. So much fun!! Vieques is amazing!!
so glad you captured the bioluminescence!! Swam in a bioluminescence water in Grand Cayman but couldn't film it so it was awesome to see it through your lens. Thanks for sending me here Raya!
very cool vid - that is the 1st time I have seen a vid capture what Bio Bay is actually like. Nice camera work. My 1st time there was in the early 90's when you could still swim in the bay....mind blowing. I went again many years later when conditions of the bay weren't so great and it was disappointing. It sounds like the Bay is healthy. I'm going to VQS in a few weeks with the family and friends - I've got to get this hooked up ASAP.
+mike costas Yeah! They have been saying since they banned swimming and power boats about a decade ago the concentration has skyrocketed. Would've loved to get a swimming shot, but respect the reasons why it had to be banned. Also grateful you're still allowed to kayak and put your hands in!
Woah man! I could play with this plancton in Indonesia. We were on the boat, near Komodo, and these things glowed amazingly, but not as much as this!! Incredible Mike. Incredible!! Greetings from the Basque Country. PD: I knew this was with the a7s! It is my next camera :D
I went, My mom thought it was best with the full moon but it’s the worst with the full moon, but it’s beautiful and amazing. It was green for me, we went to a different bay though on a boat and we swam in the water!

I really really love my island, sometime I can't even believed that I live in Vieques, Puerto Rico I have been going to Mosquito Bay since I was 4 years old!!

Hi I love your video. I’m looking to take a trip to mosquito bay. I have a few questions and sorry if you been asked this a bunch of times. I see you used to Sony A7s. What did you do to the settings for the phone to capture the glow?

Puerto Rico have 3 bioluminescent bays, La Parguera en Lajas, Launa Grande en Fajardo and Bahía Mosquito en Vieques.
Would love to go back and see the others. Have you been there?
Mike Corey I have! All of them are beautiful, but the Mosquito Bay have the biggest concentration of this microorganism. You should return to the Island and visit all of them and other amazing places that this place have. 😊

We made many dives on the bay at night. Plus, We can remember shelling in the bay and a big shark swam in and out of the limited visibility.
You guys also helped destroy the island by leaving unexplored ordinance everywhere, and giving the residents cancer.
❤ great video Mike. Just like I remembered it. I was a little afraid kayaking in the bay at night but it was definitely worth it.
I cant believe you were able to catch these images. I went to college and Puerto Rico and I was able to travel to Vieques a couple of times and the Bio is just truly amazing. Wow! (FYI your video with Ale was hilarious). Subscribed!

Hi I love your video. I’m looking to take a trip to mosquito bay. I have a few questions and sorry if you been asked this a bunch of times. I see you used to Sony A7s. What did you do to the settings for the phone to capture the glow?
Hey man. There’s no way you capture this on a phone. You need a special camera
