19:07, the moment that we thought Doctor was playing around River with the screwdriver, but actually, he was scanning her brain and life-signal to prepare to save her in The Library!
Ten once said he didn’t do domestic.
Well, Twelve *does* do domestic.
He and River are a married couple (and he’s evidently been *telling* people if the phrase “known consort of the Doctor” is any indication) and he finally honours those vows. He settles. He stays. He loves.
And, in the end, they both lived happily.
Interesting thing about Peter Capaldi during his tenure as the Doctor. He refused to do any romance scenes. One of the rings he wears is designed to cover his wedding ring. He is very devoted to his wife.
Is that why he appears like such a demiromantic ace?
As good as 11 and River were together, I think 12 showed more chemistry with her in this episode than his predecessor did across 3 or 4 seasons.
Capaldi just had instant chemistry with anyone, I can’t imagine that’s an easy thing to do as an actor but he does it so flawlessly
Damn it, I still cry EVERY TIME I watch this episode. "Time can be rewritten". "Not those times, don't you dare!"

It's not just a sonic screwdriver, it's the one that recorded her so that the 10th Doctor could upload her in "Forest of the Dead."

-River Song "Forest of The Dead" regarding the Doctor always canceling on going to the singing towers of delirium.
And how he gave her a sonic screwdriver, and scanned her mind into it. Because he knew.
My favorite scene in this episode was when River was ranting how the Doctor doesn't love her then realizes who is standing next to her.
At least make it through to the end of Capaldi’s run! You’re so close!

I think the Doctor does love River. He is just awkward at showing it. Besides just because it she was scanned as not lying doesn’t mean it was right, just because you believe something doesn’t make it true. Also way back in Forest of the Dead she said “You showed up at my doorstep, with a new haircut and a suit.” I loved the Doctors jealous reaction and pretending to be shocked at the Tardis. 11 and River are the best characters. River #1 Amy is the best companion. The Diary of River Song audiobook series is awesome check it out!
I really enjoyed your reactions, this was a great one! I understand wanting to step back, especially given River is your favourite character, but I know I and many others would really enjoy if you continued to react to Who as Capaldi's last series is so good, Jodie is very different from those before and there's always more to come (also more Missy, of course). Hope to see you continue one day, but if not, thank you for having us join you on this journey!

Thanks for these reactions. I don't usually watch reactions past season 10 (although I have watched the last 3 seasons of the show), but I'm really glad you decided to include this reaction, since I too really love River Song, and this really wraps up her story nicely.

This was the end of the show for me. I've been thinking of watching Series 10 but given the reception of it, this serves as a perfect epilogue for me. 9 seasons that culminated in a beautiful episode in which our character lives happily.
This is my favorite Who episode also!!! I could watch it every day for the rest of my life and still love it!!! And I have River's screwdriver also! Those are so sweet for part of wedding vows! They're ALL my favorite Doctor!!! Thank you for sharing!💜💋💜

Having said that, I don't know how anyone's favorite villain could be anyone other than Missy. (Even if they hadn't finished her arc at this point.)
I was ambivalent towards Peter Capaldi until this episode. Afterwards I rewatched his episodes and came to appreciate him much more.
I was hoping to see them react to the rest of Peter Capaldi and then react to Jodie Whittier. I don't what the reactions to end. I enjoy them so much.

love this episode. getting close to season 10 where it starts going down hill.
Season 10 is honestly one of my favorites so I’m sad they won’t get to see it. The S10 finale is honestly my favorite out of all of them.

@@momokomiyafuji396 the channel is definitely going to get to those, I promise. Specific personal life events took place that called for an “ending point” (for now, at least) that was the main deciding factor in stopping at this episode.

I love the comedic tone of the episode, but it have a little thing that annoying me, it make looks River Song really dumb not realising she is with the Doctor. And the Doctor it's saying it to her face since the beggining of the episode.

It's a nice fun little christmas episode and the first appearance of new companion Nardole.
I love the damsel in distress scene where they show pictures of all 13 incarnations of the Doctor.
I also find this the most satisfying ending for River Song if it is the last we see of her.
