The president that Americans should have had - the guy who has both the brains and the guts to vote what he believes. A simple 10% reduction in defense budget can cause tenfold improvements in Education, Health care and Infrastructure and prepares us to confront any other nation including China way better than with ten times the money seems to achieve so far.
True to our FDR roots. Keep supporting him, stay politically active and continue to politically engage. 10 years ago, no one would have thought that this man would be chairman of the Senate Budget Committee. He has pulled the Democratic Party closer to its FDR roots than anyone else before him. Roosevelt, early on, decided to invest in the people and look what happened--elected 4 consecutive times to the Presidency. Furthermore, on Roosevelt's platform, Democrats held the majority in both the House and Senate for nearly 40 years with little interruption to that majority rule. In the 50s & 60s personal incomes, across the economic spectrum, increased 10-20% per decade. If we continue to embrace the platform of a Social Democrat like FDR or Sanders, Republicans would never win another election again.

Thank you Bernie, you have always been on the American peoples side. The truth articulated so well, it's up lifting. Let's focus together and fight the military industrial complex!
@@Siddharth-dc4hf Don't get me wrong, it's definitely a good thing Eisenhower highlighted the military industrial complex (obviously lol), _but_ I just feel like it should be noted that was immediately after signing off on _tons_ of overt/covert military ventures to kick off the "cold" war (which you know, wasn't very "cold" for the rest of the world, take Operation Condor as but a single grotesque example, essentially a Monroe Doctrine 2.0 waged against the working class), basically breathing life into the insane entirely unaccountable natsec that influences so much of our foreign policy (hence the term "deep state" as its bureaucratic structures remain cemented in organization/alignment beyond administration transition and is disconnected to democratic accountability). Not blaming him or even trying to impose any normative judgement to be clear, but merely highlight a descriptive continuity toward out current situation of global US corporate empire, the CIA essentially the SS 2.0 for _supranational_ finance/corporate capital and toward the throughline here _has_ been since its creation under Truman (Truman's nomination as VP a stipulation of Dem party leaders at the time unsurprisingly similarly to today entirely subservient to business interests over the working class, specifically to supplant FDR's prior VP Henry Wallace who was vastly more conscious of class conflict and unapologetically sided with the working class). It's difficult to explain the broader picture here succinctly as it requires a recontextualization of like...basically everything, but I'll just mention some reference points of thoroughly corroborating potential that will hopefully catalyze some curiosity, and more importantly, understanding/concern: US involvement in "regime change", the entire operational history of the CIA, NATO and color revolutions, Operation Gladio, Operation Cyclone (vital for Afghanistan context), Operation Condor (as mentioned), Iran installing the Shah in '53, Guatemala in '54, Sukarno in Indonesia, Lumumba in the Congo, the first 9/11 in 1973 in Chile ousting democratically elected Allende to install Pinochet's military dictatorship (using a literal nazi we protected in the ratlines to south america Paul Schafer, also a huge pedophile because of course he was), Operation Mongoose/Northwoods and the absurd/criminal embargo of Cuba, honestly this is the tip of the imperial iceberg, far too many insanely grotesque operations to list, some even domestic to the US and quite related like Operation Mockingbird, to which I'll quote William Casey CIA director under Reagan aka absolute demon regarding its efficacy, _"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false."_ Anyway, I don't wanna bore anyone reading this by ranting forever here so I'll cut myself off, though there's certainly *plenty* more historical context to work with in doing so (for more see: dialectical and historical materialism, Charles Beard's An Economic Interpretation of the Constitution of the United States is pretty great, which I only read because Taft I think said of it, "it's true but why'd the bastard have to go ahead and say it" or something lol), but I just wanted to point out that the grand historical narrative of the US propagated after WWII obfuscates a much broader context and what I would argue reality that essentially we're the optimates of the late Roman empire (but with guns and nukes! and climate change! "cool" stuff, sorry obligatory facetiousness lol) suppressing the populares movement of the Gracchi bros and later Caesar, famously of course by straight up murdering them all in the senate when the _actual_ rubicon was crossed in debt cancellation and land redistribution, a senate which was paid explicit homage with the creation of our own specifically to _quell_ any democracy, as checking out the federalist papers will reveal that, very much uncoincidentally like today, the founding of the US was much less the idealistic project for the benefit of all as we've mythologized, in the vein of the French revolution's fervent working class radicalism of the sans-culottes, but rather a much more cynical/opportunistic bourgeois arrangement that masquerades as such in rhetoric, which uncoincidentally (and why I'm mentioning this at all lol) mirrors that egalitarian principle embraced by the sans-culottes slowly falling out of favor with the bourgeoisie in the National Convention as their egalitarian project encroached on this newly reinforced middle-class material power, despite riding this momentum to overthrow the Ancien régime. Federalist 10 by Madison immediately comes to mind as it's pretty explicitly stated as such. Even putting all that aside, in general and above all else I think the most important question of politics, really the _only_ question of politics that can be useful to effectively cut through the mounds of "bipartisan" (ie both factions of the bourgeoisie agree...lol) bs and pr for capital is: *_cui bono?_* So when X politician says, "this policy is good/the right thing to do", always follow that up in the mind with, "good/the right thing to do _for whom_ ?" and very clear fault lines of zero sum material interest will reveal themselves. Of course, unlike pretty much everyone else claiming to supposedly represent the people, Bernie is one of if not the only person in government to not only get what I'm badly trying to highlight (class conflict), but from this understanding actually be honest about this stuff, so besides to ensure veracity/policy effectiveness usually not necessary for his words/actions obviously, I just think ever since I heard it, I wanna say from Michael Parenti, I've found it _enormously_ helpful to say the least, if anyone cares lol.

Not only is a $778 billion "defense" budget indecent in light of the other problems for which there is supposedly no money, but these sums make America appear to be an aggressor and a threat to the rest of the world ... if they put the interests of the military itself before those of their own people, what will peoples of other nations matter to them. Twice I cried because it's only in you that I am able to see the beautiful face this country has .... I cried because it is the end of this beautiful short lived story that Eisenhower tried to protect or Kennedy or Martin Luther king.... All these great men died ... But that story never saw the light I cried because the children of Yemen, Palestine, Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan have one man that thinks about them... In Congress I cried because it's this same government that sees no problem giving Besos 10 billion dollars allocating a trillion to the military while denying millions a decent quality of life... Bernie you will be remembered as the one person that spoke truth to power but we understand you can't do it alone.
The main thing to remember is that the infrastructure bill that costs 1.2 billion that the Republicans and conservatives Democrats were so against is spread over 10 years. This defense bill that only Bernie is questioning the costs of and all of the self proclaimed deficit hawks are perfectly happy with, when they are not saying it should be higher, costs over half of that and only covers a single year. Meaning this bill represents more then 5 times the increase to the deficit as the infrastructure bill.
Even he is enough for the USA to become the best country in the world to live in if he actually manages to make the changes he wants to. In my opinion, Western Europe is overall the best place in the world to live in right now. In most countries in the EU, healthcare is free or close to it, all employed people are entitled to a minimum of 4 weeks paid leave, paid maternity and paternity leave (although a lot shorter than maternity) is offered, and employees are hired by way of "indefinite employment" contracts rather than "at-will" so you can only get fired with very good reason and never on the spot like in the US. If all of this were to be implemented into US law along with other legislation similar to what we have in EU countries, the US would be well on its way to becoming the best. Even if Bernie does become president and even gets a shot at making all of this change, a lot of senators would vote against his "socialist" policies so I wouldn't hold my breath.
Friend, even if Bernie is the POTUS, I wonder all his good proposed bills ( without any dilution or compromised ) will ever be passed by self interest Senators and Congressmen . The amounts are staggering. Just "gone". "Musta left billions of dollars in my pockets when I washed my pants, whoopsie". Every year. It's not for "secret ops", there is a budget for that. It certainly doesn't go to Veterans. This is what happens when there is no outside oversight or accountability.

You go Bernie.👍👍👍. Come on Congress grow a set and vote to back Bernie up for your people too.
Thank you Bernie for fighting for justice the others only care about their pocket books and donors .. there should be a bill that helps the people, not the 1% who have so much they could never use it all.
The Best US Senator.
Politicians: We need to cut spending to lower debt
Also Politicians: spends tons on war and weaponry
It’s called corruption. They do it with a straight face.
@@asiimwebalinda553 No it’s called different philosophies.
@@Nonamelol.: Being inconsistent is not a philosophy, especially when you are responsible for the public purse.
We spend only 10% of the budget on defense the other 90% on healthcare education etc… why should we cut defense spending when it’s only a small part of the budget?
Bernie has always been the voice of the people. We need more fighters in the good fight.
He is a voice for the lazy and the worthless. People who have jobs can pay there fair share.
@@dalewiederholt573 I see the ignorance is strong in you .

Gotta share, share, share this video! "Bernie Sanders: A Presidential Comparison," is the video everyone should see. It would help our People, and so our nation, immeasurably.
Yea the USA is $29,000,000,000,000 in debt, it’s crazy, that’s $230,000 in debt per tax payer btw.
Thank you, Bernie Sanders. Yes, cut the defense budget by 25%. I'd call that a good START.
But it’s not really a “defense” budget, is it?
@@72marshflower15 still significantly more than multiple other highest spending countries combined
@@mike_hawk2182 ~ that I’m aware of yes, but to call it a “defense budget” is laughable in the face of reality.
Now that's the man who SHOULD'VE been president
Absolutely !!!
Maybe a country in Europe. With the fundamental flaws and low tolerance acceptance from half the population, it would've been a nightmare. It's sad. But it's reality.
because the usa sure is not mature enough to have female president.
Bernie is a national hero!
Thank you Senator. You rock!
Bernie is correct. That’s because he always keeps the well-being of the people first and foremost.
We love you, Bernie!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! XD
this is an inflation adjustment lol. not really putting that much into military spending
@@ridleyscott5234 We shouldn't be putting anything into military spending we should be slashing it
@@ridleyscott5234 lol our defense budget should be cut in half

He is certainly getting more of his share of it.
This guy is a communist.

@@Vikingj72 If you had a brain you would know that Nsa has wasted 40 years on space exploration. 20 years on international ice and 20 years on 800 overseas bases. If we cut back to 600 and got rid of international ice and cut the space program and forced nasa to make bridges and houses maybe we woulsd have more money to help people. Bernie Sanders is a absolutely moron. You just don't know it.
@@Vikingj72 During Reagan time. America was much better.
Not only is a $778 billion "defense" budget indecent in light of the other problems for which there is supposedly no money, but these sums make America appear to be an aggressor and a threat to the rest of the world ... if they put the interests of the military itself before those of their own people, what will peoples of other nations matter to them. But as long as there are Americans like Mr. Sanders, I have not lost hope.
Bernie rock. Only senator dedicated himself on building America instead of enrich MIC.
Dear Bernie ❤️
I cried listening to your speech
I cried because it reminded me of the future they stole from the American people by destroying your campaign... Twice
I cried because it's only in you that I am able to see the beautiful face this country has ....
I cried because it is the end of this beautiful short lived story that Eisenhower tried to protect or Kennedy or Martin Luther king....
All these great men died ... But that story never saw the light
I cried because the children of Yemen, Palestine, Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan have one man that thinks about them... In Congress
I cried because it's this same government that sees no problem giving Besos 10 billion dollars allocating a trillion to the military while denying millions a decent quality of life...
Bernie you will be remembered as the one person that spoke truth to power but we understand you can't do it alone.
I cried too..
Indeed! American citizens are a river of endless tears. American politicians an ocean of guilt
Edit to trillion and you are Exactly Correct 👍🤙✌️
What a beautiful world it would be . . . if every members of the House and Senate had the
❣️❣️❣️HEART & SOUL❣️❣️❣️of Bernie.
$7.8 trillion defense spending*
Let's use the same 10-year estimation used for other bills.
This nation's priorities are exhausting. Thank you for speaking out Bernie Sanders. You are the best.
We Agree💯
Those words are so right!
Thank you Bernie for bringing up Rumsfeld!
Bernie, you are the only voice of reason.
Appreciate your actual information backing up your fight for the working people of this oligarchy!
Bernie, you are my hero🐦
Good man fighting the good fight. I hope one day he gets a holiday or something. We'll never see another man like him.
Greatest of all time. He should be our leader.
Thank you Bernie for fighting the good fight for the American people 😷🥰✌
A great man! Thank you Bernie for everything you do.
If all politicians were like Bernie, The USA would be the best country in the world!
That’s why we should never blindly trust politicians.
Exactly! Greetings from Germany
an absolutely disgusting amount of money spent entirely on failed wars
honestly failed wars is misleading. they do as their intendend as propoganda for more military spending
Thank God for Senator Sanders.
Thank you Bernie for fighting for us. Please stay strong and lead the way.
Still the best man for the job by far
Thank you Bernie !
Bernie is the man!
Thanks for naming the actual companies, Senator.
Thank You Senator Bernie Sanders You Should of Been President!
We Will Never Forget!
Enough is Enough
Friend, even if Bernie is the POTUS, I wonder all his good proposed bills ( without any dilution or compromised ) will ever be passed by self interest Senators and Congressmen .
If only more than half of those in Capitol hill are on the same page with Bernie, and are whole heartedly for the sake of the people, otherwise all will come to nothing.
Sad but true.
He was on top but corporate America was not gonna let him in.
Biden is a moderate himself!!!
The soviet union broke itself with absurd military spending when it needed massive infrastructure spending
That is very true.
The cold war. Exactly
Thank you so much Bernie Sanders for speaking up for the American People! 🔥🙏💪☮️🔥🙏💪☮️👏👏👏
Bernie, u awesome
He is spot on about this, our country is in dire straits, and repukes will vote for this nonstop, but anything the taxpayers need they won’t budge...🤬🤬🤬
Thank you S Sanders!
778 Billion Offence Budget is what it is and a sum of just 20 Billion would fix your homeless problem but they "Can"t afford that";its not even on the bottom of the priority list
I am a veteran and love Bernie for his honesty and making Americans aware of Military overspending.
God bless this man
Imagine how many corrupt politicians God had to sift through to find 1 good man among them. Bernie is blessed & loved!
What a missed opportunity to not have FDR 2.0 as president.
Love that comment..he’s a close as you can get..

An American Hero : A True Civil Servant to The PEOPLE!
Thank you Mr. Sanders. My husband and I live on 2100 per month and missed food stamp approval by 200.00 per month but I feed my 19 yr old son that eats that much a week. Someone does have to speak for the average American as I know I am not the only one. Please help us!!! It's no wonder people are angry. WHO CARES ABOUT WHO GOES TO THE MOON LET HIM DIG INTO HIS MILLIONS.... None of us would ever be able to afford to go. so WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. while we eat hot dogs 3 times a week.

Bernie Sanders is s national treasure. I just wish voters had been intelligent enough to elect him for president.
Corporate media played a big part against him, and of course corrupt Democrats

This man really dedicated his entire life to arguing for policies that help Americans. A true legend.
Thank you. I am very grateful for you.
We need to cut our defense budget to focus on domestic policies. That’s how we save money!
I'm not from US but Sen. Sanders is without questions the voice of the people. Thank you Sen.
Very annoyed and angry this man isn’t given credit for the fight he executes on a daily basis for us…. Totally agree with everything he brought up.
Bernie is a real patriot, and reinvesting in our fellow Americans is the biggest investment. We can also give federal paid vacations.
Real patriot worth 70+ million dollars. You liberal idiots are sure fooled by this clown
Bernie Sanders! I love you my man! You're a real North American hero!
Bernie, you are the best. No one can explain the truth like you. Call it as it is
Bernie strikes me as an authentic, down to earth good person! The thing I really like about Bernie is he stands up for what he believes is right, even if he stands alone! I’ve not seen anything that leads me to believe Bernie is not who he has shown himself to be through his actions! I believe him when he says that we the people are a priority for him!
Perfect way to call out the deficit hawks. Good going Bernie.
My respect to Bernie Sanders, a man of integrity and honour.
I'm not sure how bombs for bombing other countries is considered "defense." I believe that's a national offense budget.
White man talk with forked tongue?
one of the only brave ones. we are fucked
This Man deserves all the praise and faith possible. I love Bernie Sanders and I'm a Canadian LOL He is a Living Treasure, and for sure they'd love to "get rid of him." Example... The Kennedys.
This is 7 trillion over 10 years, even if they cut it they would not cut the service members pay, it would probably increase it cause the contractors would not get that money
Much of the budget is wasted carefully housing and guarding hilariously outdated equipment we wouldn't use in a pinch because literally everyone has better, and much of the budget also just goes "missing".
I need dental and eye care/glasses I'm disabled and can't afford it
The person who should have been President. A damn shame.
Thank you, Senator Sanders. The US has been squandering billions of dollars on weapons makers and short shrift to diplomacy. More power to you!
*Nearly $8 Trillion dollars over a decade.* A fraction of that money could solve the problems facing all of mankind, not just the United States.
Trillions spent on the US military since 1945 and not a single war "won" in all those years. That is really a very special kind of stupid.
Thank you Sen. sanders for standing up for the people in Yemen and the people in Gaza who are being slaughtered by ruthless oppressors who we aid and abet with our tax dollars. The rich and the powerful of the world, including in our own country, prey upon the less fortunate and the less strong, and we taxpayers are funding these misbegotten adventures. Are the American people OK with that?
