  • Taking a look at the biggest trim package that I have installed SOLO. It was a long hard fight but the finished product makes it worth the fight.

    I'd be impressed if a team of 5 finish carpenters could nail so many different aspects on a large house in 4 months. That you did this solo is beyond impressive. Keep it up

      @@derrick9635 it is still alot of work for 1 person to do. Cabinet maker made all the built ins, he did all the other wood including stairs. Shouldn't try to undermine another person to make yourself feel better.

      I’m a 22 year old carpenter I work for my dads business. We do houses like this and it’s a team of four including me. And we usually take a week to finish it. Including cabinets stairs crown baseboard doors windows pantry’s closets. Basically everything he did.

      @@davesch1512 I believe I said his work was amazing. People's desire for perfection can be discouraging, so it's helpful for people to know that what you see on RUclips and Instagram is edited and few jobs are perfect. There are ways to avoid that kind of gapping by accounting for what the wood will do. Wood's not an exact science, and I'm sure he did try to account for the wood gaining and losing moisture.

    This was EPIC. I just can't imagine how any single human could have finished all this work in only a few months. I'm sure you were at your breaking point at the end, but your work will stand the test of time. A beautiful home made more beautiful due to your expertise.

    I'd have to say, as a woodworker of 20 years, this is amazing work. You sir, are the reason why high-end customers search, wait, and gladly pay for our expertise. You must've been in your pockets DEEP before repayment. Nice work.

    I couldn’t imagine pricing that project out. When I price my work out I think “there is no way they are going to accept this quote” and a majority of the time they do. I can’t imagine the final price to do all of that. Beautiful

      What would you charge for a job like that? I also have hard time pricing and sometimes I price too low sometimes too high and make $1000 a day, it's hard to price jobs properly

      @@NunYaaBizz just look at the 5” Nickel and if you charge $3-4, maybe more, a LF then just in that board and specific task alone could be a 40k installation if it’s about 2 miles of that type of installation. That might not include the base board. All the doors, custom cabinets/built ins, beams, stairs, ceiling work and pocket doors that might be a 100-150k. Not really sure. That home has to have a value of 2 million or more. I might be way off but I don’t really know.

      @@NunYaaBizz why is 1k a day to high? We shoot for like 3k with 3 people. I guess it depends on what you offer and what you're running expenses are. And market

      I was thinking the same thing.
      I start with my day rate & figure out how much il get done in a day/how many days it’ll take. Then once that’s figured out on certain jobs I add around 15% on total cost depending on size of job for any unknowns.
      Seems to work for me

      Lol. I’d be making bank at those rates. $20k/week sounds pretty good. Maybe I’m working myself too hard. 😂 I installed all that alone in 2 weeks.

    I been doing this type of work 25 years and I'm definitely one of the best in my area but I would love to work with you for a year nit only to just be able to work on these awesome custom jobs you get but also to pick up on the things you know that I don't. Your definitely one of the best I've seen do this field of work. I know it's RUclips and you can edit but the finish product you make speaks for itself

    It is truly astounding that you pulled off all that work in two and a half months, by yourself, and filmed episodes to boot! It's obviously top of the line workmanship. Congratulations for finishing such a major job! Now take a vacation, you earned it!

    Spencer, I'm speechless!...
    Time has passed....while gathering my thoughts before what should be said, could be said in all sincerity.
    Written words do not come easily, to adequately convey the deep appreciation for your God-given talent, insight, skillset, and so much more.
    The single Gameroom I've been remodeling (16x22) has taken a year...and it is still not finished; you did this project, by yourself, in four months.
    Amazingly beautiful, and with so much detail; and with NO visible flaws or errors.
    The Lord has given you a similar skillset to that He gave the workers, who built the first Tabernacle in the Wilderness.
    You prove...attention to detail, is not lost in someone that seems to be such a young man.
    God Bless you and keep you creating wonders we can all learn from, appreciate, and try to achieve...even in a small way.

    Spencer from a 4th generation builder I have to say I’ve never seen so much top quality work done in that time frame by one man. I hope the owners really appreciate the dedication and talent you put into this home. I also hope you were afforded at least a nice vacation afterwards!

    Master carpenter beyond your years. Incredible job. I'm a carpenter also but I yield to you, sir. When I hit the Powerball I'll hire you to trim my mansion. LOL
    Im getting ready to build my first kitchen in my townhouse. Going to build the cabinets shaker style and paint. (that way I can hide my errors LOL) I should have watched this after I did it. You set the bar to high

I use alot of ur tips and techniques trimming for my boss here in PA I love seeing his face when I do something he hasn't seen before because he is a true craftsman and hard to surprise.     Amazing workmanship. The amount of coordination required between all the trades is massive. I applaud the teamwork.
    I enjoyed your explanations throughout this job. It is essential to plan for and control how and where expansion will occur.
    I remember watching you using the hoist to install those prep built stairs SOLO.
    This walk thru the completed project is a nice touch we the viewers don't usually get to see. Thanks for bringing us along.

    I am impressed, i,ve just fitted some kitchen units at home, and when i sat down today i realised i put the panels on upside down so i have had to take them all to bits again and re assemble them. Lucky there was only 4, would have hated to do it on a job like yours.

    Awesome job in every way... 10 weeks seems fast considering the amount of work there (I also work solo).
    One of the best thing about our trade is no matter how stressful or tough it gets, you get a fresh start every few months!....the final results appear very rewarding, and totally worth it!

    It took me two months to trim out a top floor of a custom? That is amazing Spencer just boggles my mind! I hv to re examine my game? Or mow lawns? And your hitting the mark! Stairs I probably could do that and figure my way thru it! 6 weeks min? I hv a stair job out to bid now complete trim roughs R in and I say 2-3 weeks? My work is tight but no speed like that?
    Yep mow lawns, that’s my gig!

    2 miles of wood is insane couldn't imagine the cost of the whole project but with that size house looks like its worth the expense to have your dream home.

    Great looking work. I know the feeling of being in a house for a long time like that. I am happy that I have two very capable carpenters working for me. I did a timber frame house, around 8000 square feet, vertical grain fir casing and baseboard, all white oak staircases, and metal balusters by myself when I started my business. I didn't think I would ever get done, but the day finally came when I was finished. I can tell you that I wouldn't take on a job like that again without any help.
