    Sounds freaking awesome. I can tell you're loving it. You play different when you're really in to a amp. It's great. But I am still stuck on that rockerverb you demo. So unique that amp.

      Thank you! Yeah, I'm pretty transparent lol. I just can't help myself when an amp really does it for me. I remember the Rockerverb, also a good amp.

    Great video as always! The new amp sounds amazing and the new riffs you started playing sounded mean!

    Hey Tonewars, great show every week, I don’t get to watch live due to time difference here in Australia but I watch it a few hours later. Love the driftwood, i have the kemper profiles they sell and am also seriously considering buying the actual head. Glad you did the episode on it! Thanks to both you and the mrs.!!!’

    That Driftwood sounds killer! You got the stankface so you know you are feeling it 😫🤘🏻 I got a question for you? Do you still have the Splawn Nitro and Ceriatone Molecular? I'm debating between those two amps. Thanks again you rock!

    Awesome video man! I bought a Driftwood Purple Nightmare just a few months ago and absolutely love it!! Insanely cool amps!! Mine has the KT88/6L6 tube combo as well. Totally rips 🤘 definitely my current favorite amplifier. Great review dude!

      Thank you and congratulations on your Driftwood! So unique and amazing!! I can't wait to get to know it better. By the way, what overdrive pedal to you use with yours? Do you just use the one that it comes with?

      @@TONEWARSgearshow i personally love the built in OD. However I also have an Airis Effects Savage Drive that totally slays paired with it. I also like the old school OD808 and OD-820. But yeah man I love the amp! You're already ripping it up with that thing. Will definitely be watching for future videos you do with it. It's a gorgeous beast lol

      Merek is willing to customize the amp. I believe Jarrod stated the amp was a little too mushy and he sold to his friend, KT88 tubes with 6L6 will provide a wider sound , EL34 can help with tightening up things.

      @@maximumguitarage thank you. It's a great amp. I did sell it to a good friend who likes it more than I do. It's a bit on the mushy side for me, especially when compared to the Stealth, el34 and Savage MKII.

      @maximumguitarage 2 года назад

      @@TONEWARSgearshow I had a dealer speak to Merek, you can get EL34's setup on this amp. Should help with the "mushy" with the bigger KT88 and 6L6 tubes.

    Jarrod, is this amp very dry? I prefer the richness of amps like Diezels and Engls...

    brother as always great performance and it was very informative. would please help to pick between EVH Stealth 50 watt and Peavey invective. I play thrash metal and I am in A# standard on 6 string. I was wondering which one is the best for my low tuning and has less noise regarding the high gain stuff? keep up the good work brother.

    • @TONEWARSgearshow
      @TONEWARSgearshow  3 года назад

      Thank you. To your question...that's a tough decision 😳.
      They both have midi, 3 channels and sound great.
      Hmmmm...the Invective does have a noise gate....
      That said, you can always get one for the Stealth.
      I'd go with the Stealth. It just checks all the boxes regarding tone, feel and features.
      Just my opinion

    Just because I have no real idea what is meant by wet/ dry for the amp tone. Do you mean compression? Just know that therm for no vs. some effects.

    • @jaychen2000metal
      @jaychen2000metal 3 года назад

      Too dry can be lifeless and sharp. Too wet is the opposite

    • @TONEWARSgearshow
      @TONEWARSgearshow  3 года назад

      Good question...
      Dry amps = less saturated, more clarity, less forgiving, less "spillover" between starts and stops, great for muti tracking
      Wet amps = more aggressive (typically) more "connective tissue" between notes and starts/stops, more forgiving, can sound bigger if dialed in correctly,
      A good amp is a great blend of both. The Driftwood is a great example of this

  • @Bognerman14
    @Bognerman14 3 года назад

    Sounds great and now you make me wonder if I replace my Bogner with this or the Orange. I'd get the black headshell Orange.
    Are both great for modern metal?
    I am down to the these two, the Archon 100 or Engl Fireball which to me sounds beefier than the Savage.
    Good choice on the purple shirt by the way!
    Nickname that amp - "Barney!"

    • @TONEWARSgearshow
      @TONEWARSgearshow  3 года назад +1

      I would definitely replace the Bogner with the Driftwood.

    • @Bognerman14
      @Bognerman14 3 года назад

      @@TONEWARSgearshow That's what I'm thinking.
      How's the Orange RV you tried next to the Driftwood? Seems the Orange may be not quite as dry as the Driftwood.

    • @TONEWARSgearshow
      @TONEWARSgearshow  3 года назад

      @@Bognerman14 not quite as dry or angry. I prefer the Driftwood. The orange just barely does metal IMHO

    • @Bognerman14
      @Bognerman14 3 года назад +1

      @@TONEWARSgearshow Oh wow, good to know. I love thick, juicy metal tones like you wirh character and richness, but I like amps that can do alt rock/hard rock and grunge, think 90s Alice in Chains, etc. I have a Mark V and heavily modded Dual Rectifier.
      I like that the Orange is versatile and I know Jim Root of Slipknot uses AN orange, so I'm surprised.
      But, with the money I get from the Bogner (20th/6CA7), I think I can swing a Driftwood.
      I just hope it does some other tones like hard rock, not just metal. It seems too. :)
      Thanks brother.
      I am traditionally an EL34 guys, but as I've gotten older, I appreciate and have really warmed up to 6L6, 6CA7 and KT88.

      @@TONEWARSgearshow Curious what your next two choices are after the Driftwood? The Engl Fireball and Savage sound great on your show and also the PRS Archon. If I can't sell the Bogner, I'll have to spend less. The Fireball sounds killer. Better than the Savage to my ears.

  • @Bognerman14
    @Bognerman14 3 года назад

    I am selling my Bogner Shiva and either getting a Driftwood or Orange RV MKIII. Is the Orange wetter or more forgiving? I am not a fan of dry amps but you say this is better than a VHT in that regard!?

    • @TONEWARSgearshow
      @TONEWARSgearshow  3 года назад +1

      Great question. It is definitely more saturated and wetter than a VHT.
      The VHT amps are a bit too dry for me too. The driftwood has the right amount of dryness for me

      @@TONEWARSgearshow Good to know!
      I really love the Eng Savage you demoed but you have me interested in finding a used Driftwood. If you could have one, would it be the Driftwood?
      It's interesting you say the Orange barely does metal, considering I've seen Jim Root live with Slipknot and I've seen other bands use the Rockerverb and just crush it.
