I have the Lasse Lammert plugin and I thought, “well, maybe it’s just the plugin.” Turns out it’s pretty accurate, which is disappointing, I really want to like this amp. The feature set is dope, onboard noise gate and tube screamer? Sign me up! As far as life stuff is concerned, you’re killing it. Life happens and there’s stuff that’s more important than gear videos. You’ve inspired me, dude. I lost my job in June. I thought about what I really wanted and what was best for my family. I realized that was working part-time so I could keep my daughter out of daycare. I found a part-time gig doing what I love and I can provide for my family. I didn’t think it was possible, but I gave it a shot because you’re doing it. Thanks for being you.
Interesting! Go you for giving it a second crack. Pretty similar results, loved the recto cab the most.
I really like how stiff the amp is actually.. it’s got Recto rawness with more attack.
There’s a bit a tub in the low end, but recorded / over RUclips it’s not as perceivable.
Cheers!
I thank you so much for everything you do in your channel buddy! I’m not into hardcore as you are but I used to and everything you do is pure energy and gold. Keep going on the overdrive stuff dude!
(Sorry for the english mistakes, I’m French)
THANKS!!!
That Driftwood sounded a lot better once you swapped it out for the Engl
After listening again I think the MXR overdrive plus loop-EQ did the amp best out of everything. Definitely Mesa cab #1!
I’m a big fan of this channel.. you take pride and it’s appreciated. I have mixed feelings when eq tools are used for an expensive amp. Thoughts? 🤙
Whoa! Second cab actually sounded massive.. nice.
Is there a noise gate on?
Sounds like my framus cobra troubles. It took me awhile to get it where I wanted it. Now I love it. The revv tilt help me a lot. Same issue, way to much low-end. But not loose low-end, it's tight but really booming low-end. The tilt helped pull it back. I was using the orange Parametric eq. But it really doesn't sound bad.
I prefer the MXR 6-band because those frequency centers are better placed IMO, plus they are closer together because the range focuses on the "guitar" frequencies and do not include those that are outside. It has 100,200,400,800,1.6k,3.2k. The pitfall of course is that it does not have a gain and level control if you need/want them.
I’m pretty sure Keith Merrow was the only person that could make this amp sound good. That being said, it was a specific sound for his playing/style etc.
From my experience with the amp it is very rectifier-ish in the sense that you need to run the presence a tad high to avoid the amp sounding dark and also run the gain and treble a tad higher than usual just for some more snarl. I know alot of people try to compare this more to like a boutique 5150 but alot of amps at 100 watts sound and feel like a tad less like 100 watts as of late, the 5150 has this big boomy bottom end and newer amps just don't replicate that in a balanced way. And ive seen more faulty tubes shipping in amps these days so it can be a combination of things
I think this amp would be great in a mix. Maybe not as the primary tone but sitting on your doubled tracked guitars to fill out the sound.
could def be a chunky rhythm boi
Yeah that’s sounds pretty disappointing? If you happen to see this, do you hear much difference between the Inferno and fireball? Just got a fireball on your recommendation from the last live stream and I dig it! I hear the two amps are very similar.
Boss EQ pedal has better frequencies imho.
For me the driftwood sounded good, not tight or definited or polished, but very aggressive and raw, i think it has a huge amount of bass frequencies around 100 khz more then twice or triple then the Engl, if you dial that out i think it would sound closer to the Engl
Engl for the win!
Would love to see a Landry or Rivera.
Damn I missed the stream
Maybe some new tubes for the driftwood!@
Tubes do not effect tone at all!
@@sentientcloroxbottle1557 he was talking about the Amp being microphonic and not happy with the sound he was getting and some times that will fix the problem of not liking sound even after the 10 band eq petal
Have you ever try the EMG Het set?
It’s intriguing I honestly think the issue might be a preamp tube that said I wouldn’t expect you to roll tubes into it. That’s just going too far. My only reason for thinking that it might be a tube issue is the distortion seems muffled almost as if the cab has a blanket over it. But it’s really hard to call these things and I’m not a tube roller people generally make more of tubes than they should imho tubes aren’t the problem the few times I have had a preamp tube go bad they either just quit all together or get fizzy and harsh then look like a burned out light bulb all white and crappy.
I thought so too but I changed them out before the stream yesterday
Personally I thought it sounded good with the SD-1 and the EQ in the loop engaged, although how it sounds vs how it feels playing is often two different things. I did not like the sound as much with the para-eq out front, and I figured I would like that better but just did not.
That was a great demo despite the outcome- the Engl Inferno is just a dominant amplifier.
It doesn't have much attack. Sounds better than the last video though man.
Yeah, I just don't think it's the amp for my style
@@belligerentamateur The Engl needs a vid soon too dude!
I have heard some good clips of this amp,but this is your second attempt and I'm not digging it. Just watching your facial expressions is telling. The ENGL was better right away.
