I got the bass for Christmas, totally worth, the quality is higher than the looks, and sounds warm and natural l no cheap or artificial feelings or sound . Totally recommended. Surprisingly good great value for the money
Hey! Nice review!! I have a question. I bought mine and I cannot set the effects I want and have the drums play at the same time. So, If I select the drums to be played, there is only the clean sound. How can I set the effects and play the drums and the same time? Thank you!
Hey man, thanks for the comment! I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the rhythm/effects section only allows you to use one or the other. I think that's definitely something that a lot of people will be disappointed with, but it's still a great mini amp, in my opinion.
@@PatrickBreenMusic Thanks, great review! According to the Vox website the drum rhythms are played with various guitar effects on the AC2. Check out "listen" at voxamps.com/AC2RV. Are you sure guitar effects & drums cannot be used simultaneously? If so, it's a show stopper for me.
For 29.99 USD its almost free on musicians friend today only. It does sound bass without a clarity, muffled? Could be the mic. etc. Great REVIEW! I say folks get it. I have the Blackstar fly3 with the matching mini extra cabinet. If you have the money want more the blackstar fly3 is for more seasoned guitarists. Every beginner should have this amp just for the Drum Rhythm most of my experience. Guitarists need to learn a good rhythm consistently. AWESOME for what you get everyone.
Its good, but I have not been able to find a DV 9V 3 wire grounded power supply, on the two pin plugs I get static interference. It has to be a ground wire and three pin plug.
Hey Michael- I talked to Vox and they said that guitar center and sweetwater are both carrying these AC2 amps but, because the product is so new, it might take a couple weeks for these to appear on the retailers' websites. If you have a GC close by, I'd call them up and see if they are carrying them or getting them in- that will probably be the quickest way to get your hands on one of these. Very cool product, I definitely recommend!
Very cool bro. I have the Honeytone mini amp and while it sounds decent, the lack of effects (not even reverb) can make it uninspiring for me. I will definitely consider getting one of these to have for a simple plug and play option to take on the road for practice sessions. Great video, you the man!
Wow dude, I'm so glad you said that. I was considering the Honeytone and then Vox announced this beauty. I figured I'd go with the Tried & True! We need to have a Central park jam soon!
Nice video, for sure the best review out there so far... but... what's your take away opinion? Would you keep it or swap if for the katana mini or fly 3?
Ryan Ashbaugh I really like it man. It’s nice to have. I pull this off the shelf more that I thought I would. I also really like the katana, I don’t use the fly 3. I guess it’s all up to you... Whatever you see yourself using more is what you should get. If you’re out gigging a lot, I probably get the katana. But if you’re looking for something that will let you play anywhere, this mini amp is clutch.
Nice demo and quick explanation of the features. One question: If you use the delay effect with short time, is it possible to get a kind of slap-back effect? Can you get a single quick repetition?
Due to the fact that the Fly 3 had more tried and tested reviews, I went ahead with buying the Blackstar instead of this. Fly 3 sounds great in person so I don't regret the purchase. But just based off this video alone, this amp seems to have more options for different sounding setups.
@@jramen3564 I'm a bit of a collector of these mini amps. You made the right choice getting the Fly 3, because it just has a much bigger sound with much more headroom. I own a Vox Mini AC-1 that I've had for years. It and the Fender Blackface Mini Twin were the best two out there until the Blackstar Fly 3 and Laney Mini St- 2x3 came out. However, I enjoy the different voices of most all of the mini-amps. I usually add reverb and maybe delay to any mini amp that doesn't have that feature. But I just ordered 2 of these AC-2 Rythm Vox amps on the MF SDOTD (12/19/18)-one for me and one for a gift, because they are fun when you just want a to get a different sound. @Patrick Breen This was good demo of what I'll be receiving - thanks
Thanks for a great video. This is definitely what I was looking for as this is the best option for travelling without bringing a Hotrod Deluxe in the backpack ;)
You shouldn't really play bass through a guitar amp. You'll probably break it. Unfortunately bass amps are more expensive than guitar amps because they have to be beefier.
sarp karaarslan...I don't know how much experience you have, but have you tried a different guitar lead?...you might have a noisy lead..it's a common thing, especially on cheaper leads. Hope I have been some help..unless you mean that the Amp buzzes on high gain, without anything plugged in...sometimes you have to live without playing at full volume...why would you want to do that ,i wonder?...why not just get a more powerful amp with more headroom? Hope you get sorted. Cheers!
@@highpitwilma Thanks for your help. This amp is not my main amp but I like to play loud sometimes. I just wondered is my amp broken or not. Because if it's broken I want to give it back or change it with the same model, another one. But if it's normal and this buzzing is not a sign about speaker damage, I'll keep the amp. By the way, amp starts buzzing on high volume. When I disconnect the guitar or turn the volume knob down, buzzing stops. Maybe just the small speakers in the amp starts buzzing on high volumes.
Excellent video review Patrick! I read online that someone was complaining that they couldn't use the guitar effects at the same time they were running the rhythm patterns. That may be a deal breaker for some. Can you confirm fact or fiction on that?
Hey there- thank you for the kind words! Unfortunately, you can not use the effects and rhythm features simultaneously. I definitely see how this could be a disappointment for some. Still, this is a great mini amp, really. I have really been enjoying it!
Nice review. Just bought this AC2, I just hope it lasts longer than the two AC1 that I had bought. They both lasted only a few months after the warranty!!!
Great vid and demo,Patrick, enjoyed your playing, trouble is,it wasn't long enough!...it's so good!! Check out my comment on your music track.."Waters"..it's good! Cheers! HPW.
You should demo this with a room mic, not a mic-through-a-system. This way folk would hear what it sounds like- like you somehow plugged your guitar into a cheap transistor radio from the 60s. Even the 'clean' sound broke up. And don't even try bass, which this amp is being sold for...
Walt Borys..just for correctness..this is the Lead Amp version,Vox HAVE made a Bass version, but seeing as I don't play Bass,I couldn't give an opinion, only trying to help you. But why the derogatory remark.."and don't even try bass.."...?..have you got this model and blown it by plugging a Bass guitar into a lead amp?....no-one with any experience at all would play a Bass guitar through a lead amp! In 1962,an "Experienced" bass player came to audition with my group..[note: GROUP!...NOT BAND!..BANDS played Brass!]...... Anyway, this guy had an old brown Vox AC30,Lead amp..and as soon as he plugged his bass in,it was the most excruciating sound I ever heard coming from an amp!..he'd bust his voice coils and cones so bad it was like a saw on barbed wire!...and HE didn't even know it..HE thought that it sounded good!I took the amp home for a few days,to save him lugging it on the bus..believe me!..[he had done this!]..and when I played my guitar through ..I almost wept for the speakers death!!..just reminiscing....!!
I have it and it is worth it and handy although it has some technical problems and the batteries if u play everyday like me it wont even last for a month but aside from that it is very nice.
I can't ever give Vox amps any credibility. Long prior to this magnavox produced the AC2 and AC3. 40 years prior and the product gained its popularity by chopping down the name and taking the AC model numbers.
Thanks for the spec sheet, the AC adapter socket is center negative, which is good to know..
Great review, thinking of making this my first amp
me too just wondering have you got it as this was a while ago?
I got the bass for Christmas, totally worth, the quality is higher than the looks, and sounds warm and natural l no cheap or artificial feelings or sound .

Beautiful demonstration, great style and clean playing, thanks!
It sounds really amazing for its size.
Wow are all those effects you demonstrated on that little amp? 😲 I just ordered one from Guitar Center
Would have been nice to hear the reverb with the on board mic Jack.

Would it be loud enough to play outside for a couple of people?
yes it can get kinda loud
can I use it with acoustic guitar with piezo pickup
I don't see why not!
Great demo! Thanks!

There is a bASS model of this very same amp.

Very cool product
is the power connection included?
G. H. It’s not but if you have and effects pedals you can use the 9V power supply that comes with that. If you don’t, you can find one for under $10.
hey Patrick what software do you use for midi keyboarded
Hi Steven- I use Logic Pro X.
