  • The Audi S5 Sportback will always remain a special car to me; the beautiful V6 engine, the space, the ease of use, the speed, it all comes together into one brilliant car that I have absolutely loved owning.
    At long last I've got round to reviewing and editing a review of my own car. The B Roll is a culmination of 3 years of road trips hence why road some shots are in France, some in Switzerland, some in Germany, some on a beach in Wales and some in rainy England. One thing is for sure, the Quattro S5 can cope with everything.
    I've got a load more S5 videos to get through so keep locked in if you enjoyed!

    Great review. Only thing I wanted to say is the s5 competes with the m440 and c43 not the m4 and c63, and tbh I think it looks much better than the m440i and I can't decide between c43 and the s5. Either way, great review mate.

      I do prefer the S5 over the C43. I first fell for the old C63 so I prefer the more square looking C63’s. I think the new ones are too rounded.

    The key to much better handling in ANY Audi is getting a stiffer rear sway bar. Only the rear, a stiffer front just equalizes it again. A stiffer rear bar helps rotate the rear in corners and under hard trail breaking, which is also a must. Not having enough fun and scaring others seems like a driver issue and not the car. Just need learn how to drive different handling cars and adapt your driving style to that car. For an Audi, late brake hard into a corner and trail brake aggressively. This helps lighten the rear end and rotate it. Believe me, you brake late and hard enough into a corner and rotate the rear end you’ll scare anyone.

    • @amedaius8492
      @amedaius8492 8 месяцев назад

      @@macswhips Excellent to be honest. I've wanted an Audi since high school, so when I found myself in a position to actually get one years later I did quite a bit of research and test driving. I wasn't even looking at S5s because I thought they would be out of my price range but I ran across one that was just right and snapped it up.
      I only have 2 gripes.
      1: I am a pretty tall guy, and entering/exiting the car is a bit awkward. I probably shoulda gone for a coupe or cabriolet for the larger door size.
      2: The throttle lag at low rpm/stop. For a luxury sport sedan, you would expect the car to be a bit peppier. My son drives a crappy Cruze and when I have to drive it the low end responsiveness is really wonderful and I miss it when I go back to the Audi. I do plan to get a pedal commander or something similar to hopefully combat that.
      All that being said, its the best car I've ever owned and I really enjoy driving it. The design is polished, and being a popular mod car there's tons of products available to customize it in a bunch of ways.

    How many miles is on the car and what was the maintenance like as in did you find any major problems with the car? I heard the b9 was pretty reliable.
    I'm so sick of seeing reviews that are "S5 Review after 6 months!" "S5 Review after 1 year!" Like I don't give a d*mn about your 6 months of ownership, I want to know how well it lasted for 3+ years so thank you for this as I appreciate it a lot!
    I'm looking at one here soon, but waiting for the car bubble to burst as cars are way overpriced now. A used S5 with 8/10k miles are going for 75 thousand dollars! That is literally more than a new S5, if you wait 6 months for it to get delivered to the dealership you can get a prestige for 69k. So I'm waiting for things to fall a bit before I get one.

    • @macswhips
      @macswhips  2 года назад +1

      Hi Brandon. good idea waiting for the bubble to burst. I work in sales these days and the whole 2nd hand market is ridiculous at the moment. But I'd definitely recommend an S5 Sportback, I absolutely loved mine and had no issues apart from one major thing. Maintenance wise, I didn't need to do much at all but I had mine from new and did 30,000 miles in it. It was reliable throughout the whole 3 years, no issues at all...apart the major problem.
      I had con-rod failure in piston 3 and 6 and it blew a hole in the engine. This resulted in a brand new engine from Audi under manufacturers warranty. I can't be 100% sure but I think this may have had something to do with me having a fight with a flooded road a few months before.
      As I say, I can't be sure if that would have happened if not for the flooding. Sorry I can't be more helpful in that sense. But generally speaking, super reliable and had no issues other than that over the whole 3 years.
