I updated my iTunes, and then tried to re-connect my ipod to listen to music. My ipod was unable to connect to iTunes, I followed these steps and the problem was solved..thanks it was a lifesaver
This was a 10/10. Thank you so much for being clear and brief. For others watching- I didn't have to reinstall my iTunes to get this to work perfectly. I just followed the steps after that part. Thank you again.
Thank you!! After the recent iTunes update my phone wasn't being recognized. This fixed it and I didn't even have to restart my computer or iTunes!! Thank you again!!
Dude I freaking love you the thing didn’t show up under the universal so I went straight to Apple under portable devices and it worked. You are amazing
oh my god you are awesome :) i have had these issues since ios 10 and had no clue how to fix them, thanks alot to your tutorial! turned out itunes were unable to detect the cable (which was weird, it charged and i could acces the photos from My Computer) but ty alot you saved me
Thank you so much!!! I am not familiar with computers at all, and you made this so easy for me to understand that even I could fix it. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
I have Windows 10 Home and altho I followed your directions on another version of Windows 10 and it worked beautifully, I am not being successful on this version. Your final screen under drivers gives a usbaa...inf and that is the same file down at the bottom of the page. Under drivers, it simply reads usbaap164 and in the box at the bottom next to the open option, all I see is inf. If I type in the usbaap164,I get driver not found. If I use the inf extension I still get that. Any suggestions? Thank you!!!
So, I've got all the updated drivers, rebooted both the phone and the itunes (updated itunes again), restarted computer, and it still won't recognize. Do you know anything about checking USB reading/detectability at the USB hub on the computer? Sometimes I have to move my phone or external hardrive from USB to USB on my laptop, until it reads. My laptop is recognizing my iphone, but iTunes isn't recognizing.
which version of IOS are you using? and possibly just select the "search automatically for driver software" found at 1:17 in the video and see if that pulls anything up.
Andy, i liked your tutorial, but it didn't work. At 2;52 mark, it said folder doesn't contain compatible software driver. Everything else went as posted. Please respond. Thanks.
ThankYou for your video that I could understand .. Unfortunately this didn't work for me either. It's very frustrating. I followed your steps and iTunes is still saying that my iphone7 cannot be detected due to software needing update. My laptop has been updated & my iTunes. I'm not sure what else to do 😩 I had to repeat from 1:17 as the driver was already compatible. But it still does not connect. I've uninstalled & reinstalled iTunes a couple times. Please help hoping you have some answers 😌
Hey mine says the folder you have select does not contain compatible software. If folder contains a drive make sure it is designed to work with windows x 64 based system
thanks you so much it worked. I had called AT&T and told them there replacement phone they sent me didn't work and it was my windows 10 this hole times thanks again
Hi, I got a message saying this could potentially harm my device because the two are not compatible & installing the drivers could cause harm to my computer. I have WINDOWS 8 will it still work correctly??
Hey there! I've installed Itunes (also uninstalled and reinstalled several times) and my iphone still will not show up. In device manager under the USB tabs, there is no "Apple Mobile Device" (seen at 1:00) or "portable devices" to select. So I can't do the rest of the steps in this video. I've checked control panel, and under installed programs "Apple mobile device support" IS installed, so I'm at a loss of what's going on. When I plug my cord it, its as if my computer is not detecting anything being plugged in at all (before you ask, yes my phone cord works, and yes my USB ports work, as I use 3 on my laptop and they all use several devices). Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
When you first plug your iPhone in while using Windows 10 it wants to open up programs using its own Windows 10 software. Click the windows option in the bottom left of your home screen and go into SETTINGS. From settings you will see a tab called DEVICES. Select devices and then AUTOPLAY. You will see Apple iPhone and from there click the drop down box and select Take No Action and SAVE. I had to do this originally because Windows 10 wanted to use its own programs to open up my pictures and music with. Hopefully this will help you.
Howdy! I'm actually having a similar problem to the OP with my iPod. I did what you responded with a couple of weeks ago (choosing take no action). It didn't do the trick, so I did some looking around and found that Windows is only referring to it as a USB mass storage device. It also says that there is a driver issue, but I've taken multiple steps to install/update the driver to no avail. Do you have possible advice? I've uninstalled and reinstalled itunes. Would completely resetting the ipod and uninstalling/re-installing itunes (effectively starting over from scratch) help at all?
worked perfectly but I can't copy any songs to my library or playlist from my pc :/ I started using the 3 month trials from itunes store ... please help
I watched so many unsuccessful videos before finding this. Great job!
glad it worked for you sir!
Same thing for me thanks dude

The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device. so what i do now...
which version of IOS are you using? and possibly just select the "search automatically for driver software" found at 1:17 in the video and see if that pulls anything up.

Unfortunately that didn't work, under autoplay there is no apple iphone, my computer seems to just not want to recognize the phone at all.
