Brilliant demonstration. Just learnt how to hit the ball in both types of bunker as well as how to hold the club and my shoulders differently. That’s 5 lightbulb moments!!! Wow. Thanks Steve.❤😂🎉🇦🇺🥳
Love the video. Not everyone's ball lands perfectly on top of the sand when they hit in the bunkers. Even if it rolls into the bunker, almost 1/3 of the ball is lower than the surface of the sand. Can we see bunker shots with more realistic lies? Much appreciated.
Watching bunker lessons one after the other right now and just washed to say, Great Job. You got right to it, no long winded silly sales pitch. Clear explanation and demonstration without the black black black, thank you.
With fluffy sand, my two stock shots are duff and leave it in the bunker or blast it 30 yards over the green. This changes in compact sand when i either blast it 30 yards over the green or duff and leave it in the bunker.
We need a video from someone showing how to hit out of a bunker that has big lines half raked shots, footprints, etc...from not being raked by all the groups in front of you.
@@stevejohnstongolfI had seen the same tip (using the toe) for chipping off bare muddy lies. Don't know why I hadn't made the connection to use it in the bunker like that; genius!
Penalty! You can’t toe the club in front of your ball or behind it in a bunker! Rule 12.2 b(1). Your not allowed to test the consistency of the sand, or leave a target mark. You can however use your feet while anchoring your stance to get a feel for the sand.
isn't that forbiden to touch the ground and "feel" the bunker; rule 12a and 12b: player must not: Deliberately touch the sand in a bunker with a hand, club, rake or other object to test the condition of the sand to learn information for the stroke, or Touch the sand in a bunker with a club in making a practice swing, in grounding the club right in front of or behind the ball, or in making the backswing for a stroke.
@@rodneymuse3730 clearly... 1:15, ..."set myself up, to the club on the ground..." good tip... clearly the video is not bad and the message is clear but that sentence there is wrong. simply. if you name a sequence set up and say that line. hmm was misleading for me. but never mind, I liked the video anyway.
I didn't know about hitting with the toe in compressed sand. Thank you so much 🙏
Counseling is available for those of you who have never seen Steve in shorts before. 😂😂😂
Blue rocket shorts are essential to get out of bunkers.
@@taffyddu Ahh! I've been looking for love in all the wrong places! 😂

Hi Steve. very good golf tips for the sandbox! I love your practical intelligence!
Thanks, Steve. I have a hard time in hard bunkers.
Great video. Hadn’t heard about the shoulder adjustments before. We have terrible hard sand here in Seattle. Looking forward to trying this out.

This has given me confidence, as I had exactly that problem yesterday.
That was really informative. I use the same sand swing for all bunkers. Going to really need to practice the compact sand technique.
Love the lesson and your Scottish accent!
Thank you! 😃
I really struggle out of the bunkers. I'm going to give that 1st tip a go for sure. Should be useful around my course.
Love the approach for hard pan. Have been coming down with the leading edge. But using the toe makes more sense.
Thank you for this video, Steve. I'll be using these techniques when the courses reopen.
Let me know how you get on👍
Thank you for the video! I will certainly try this next time
Great lesson, thank you

Great instructions on both shots. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve bladed my sand wedge out of a bunker with little sand.
Great lesson
Hat far behind the bal are you hitting with that toe shot?
Great video
Thanks👍
Brilliant as always Steve.
Third hole at Pula?
The only thing I'd say - that was a fairly shallow lip. What happens if you've got an 2 metre high wall in front of you and hard compacted sand?
Cheers Steve. Great information.
With a longer bunker shot with lots of sand, would you consider less loft? Same technique but with say a 52*. I really struggle with this shot. 👍🏻
Absolutely 👍
Steve, do you still like your ultra-modern setup with the closed stance and the out-to-in swing?
What are the benefits of the steep and shallow angle of attacks in those 2 cases? And why wouldn’t the first swing work in the case?
Nice one Steve. Thank you. 👍😎🇦🇺
Great vid just what I need
Fantastic!!👍🏼
So how do you get out of Woodhall Spa Hotchkin bunkers?
Excellent
What’s the difference between open and more open?
Great lesson thank you for posting this I have learned from the sand don't try to get cute just get it on the Green
Do you actually ground the club?
At my local course there is almost no sand. Its so compact that I can hear my club hit the sand and then the ball. And it blades it over the green.
Brilliant
Thanks Michael👏🏻
I love this video
Thanks👍👍
That sand still wasn’t as ‘compact’ as my home course.
Fairway bunkers next Please.
½ inch of fluffy sand is not fluffy sand trap… when inches of very light airy sand is in the trap… this technique just goes Inde the ball…
Inde?

I'm confused. "Toe of the club on the ground." You cannot ground your club in a bunker. Help me understand.
The drip 🔥🔥
Weather good in Scotland 6 days ago then??
Surprisingly good for the time of year👍
What would be useful is playing both shots from each lie. That way he get a greater understanding.
Genius!
Ooooft, I would go that far🤷♂️👍😂
Wouldn’t
@@stevejohnstongolfI had seen the same tip (using the toe) for chipping off bare muddy lies. Don't know why I hadn't made the connection to use it in the bunker like that; genius!
Why cant you just do a normal chip shot out of the bunker? That seems to work pretty well?
Great video but the problem with copying any of Jordans techniques is that he is Left Handed playing Right
Either of those lies in an Aussie bunker would be fantastic….rarely find a decent bunker. Deep sand can be inches thick and thin almost concrete.
Great video, could you do one for a plugged uphill lie out of a bunker please. Asking for a friend.😂
Need subtitles
For us lefties, lead and trail… please.
I like how he thinks this bunker is "compact"...you should see the bunkers I've been in...😊
Look at those pegs! It looks like you have two alignment canes hanging out of your shorts.
Just kidding.
Great technical insight
That no Peebles in January 😂
So the ball lands and sits like that in a fluffy bunker 😂😂
You took 5 mins for a 1 min video.

tortured accent. it cant be called english
What language is he speaking?
Guess???
I hope the toe of the club is not on the ground.. that would be a 2 stroke penalty :P
