The Del Fuegos take me back. It's been 40 years or so since I first heard them play live in Boston. I feel like I owe them something. At this point, I guess I'll just say thanks.
I saw these guys play my college in 87. Terrible weather, maybe 20 people showed up. They played an incredible set, and invited the entire audience backstage.

This song has something special about it, a romantic spirit which brings to mind Bruce Springsteen at his best, and a sense of honesty that reminds me of The Romantics. Thank you Del Fuegos for this diamond you gave us.
Here in Australia in late 1984, I was a young 19 year old, who at the time was listening too lots of different music such as Killing Joke, Tom Petty, John Mellencamp, Sunnyboys and Midnight Oil and many more.I read many music magazine of the day, such as here in Australia Juke Magazine also Rolling Stone here in Australia. I first read about the Del Fuegos and then bought there Debut album and after that album, I followed them and all the albums that followed, which I still have ,I always wondered what could have been, I think the Producer Mitchell Froom got more recognition than the band for he later that year, produced Crowded House, who are also legends in this world of music. I thank the Del Fuegos for giving me such good memories and I thank you for the download....
When I was a kid in the 80s(Texas) . circus magazine, kraang, hit parader, Rolling Stone, jet magazine. That's how I discovered so many band rather than just what was shown in MTV or hearing on Radio. Discovered this band! Lately I've been going down the rabbit hole of 60s Australian music really cool stuff!
Eddie and the Cruisers and Del fuegos days...good times. one was a fantasy and the other was a dream. they both are a place you can go back to in time all it's own.
one of my favorite albums of the mid 80's, if you like the replacements than you'll love these guys.....good stripped down rock at it's very best...........
I was raised by rock bands, including this one. This was the first rock band I ever saw, and I think the nosebleed I got was from how much air the bass bins at the Ratt were moving. Once in a life time right place right time.
Watching City on a Hill and heard this in the background... Made me sit straight up...omg!!! Haven't heard this in forever and I loved this song... Great hearing it again!! Del Fuegos were awesome!! 💙🌷💙
I mostly listened to Dan Zanes's music (Down in the Valley, Hello, Wonder Wheel, etc...) for a good chunk of my early childhood, and I only just recently found out he was in this band long before then. It's always neat to discover the backstories behind your childhood heroes like this, it's honestly kind of surreal.
I was thinking it reminds me of the Plimsouls and the Smithereens! Definitely great music . This is the kind of stuff that got me through all that pop in the 80s
Way back in the day I was in a band called The Tremblers, and we opened for the Del Fuegos at the now-defunct Rainbow Music Hall in Denver. Can't say the Del Fuegos gave us the time of day, but it was still our brush with the big-time. When we finished our opening set the crowd called for an encore. We were about to do one, but management pulled us off the stage instead. Fun times!
Wow,the Del Fuegos was one of my favorite live shows...at some dive in Worcester, MA. Packed like sardines, a small club, but it was small and intimate, and the Fuegos rocked the house. Good Times...
Holy crap!! thats Dan Zanes,my daughter wathched him on one of the kids channels when she was five or six,he's doing quite well with that. This & the church "Under the milky way tonight" two of my favorite '80's tunes,
I believe I seen them open up for another band my buddy and I went to see in the summer of 1986. I can't remember the other band though. These guys made an impression me and went out the next day and bought the album.
Damn, I still adore this song! Those bands were splendid ... Del Fuegos, Del Lords, Hoodoo Gurus, etc... But euhm... just have a search for "Dan Zanes" here on You Tube!! HILARIOUS!!!!!!!! :-))))))
And there's another one: I've heard it on John Peels Music in the early 80's, I don't know when it was released. It's called something like: "She Called Me, I Always Call Her Back" - that's at least the chorus. Check out this one! John Peel quote: "rather psychedelic" - he liked them a lot!
I remember some vague interview where they were asked why they were named the del fuegos. The answer was they figured that that was as low as they could go. :)
I'd like to know who played the keys on this cut. I forgot who did the track, and lost my albums. Very 'Stones-esque playing in this one. I have always been a fan of the Del Fuegos. Used to go into the Rat or Bunratty's with a good fake ID to see them live! Always a great show, the heyday of Boston rock...
You used to be able to find it second hand on ebay, but now I think you can get all their CDs brand new on Amazon - YES, I think they've been re-released!! :))
Came here because of the recent Warren Zanes interview on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast, I knew the name of this band, but I don’t think I ever heard any of the songs back in the 80s, not sure how I missed them, but does anybody else think that this sounds like Tom Petty singing a Greg Kihn Band song?
I was a huge fan and I bought there first 3 albums. I used to drive my friends nuts trying to get them to like them as much as I did. I'm no musician, but it always sounded like the only thing missing from their sound was some better drumming. I always thought their drumming was just a bit monotonous, and would have benefited from a few fills and a change I r two. I'm not saying Keith Moon style, but a couple of fills and a little more cymbal work was all my ears wanted.

I was so into the Del Fuegos back in the 80's
Heard on City on a Hjill, remembered from the 80's. Great song.
these guys and the smithereens had that old rock and bar band sound, reminds me of randy in valley girl.good shit

Damn we were so young then living the dream
@Kim yes we were.
I'm still young living the dream. Speak for yourselves you whiny self-obsessed losers.
This band sucked anyway and they went absolutely nowhere.

Maravilloso grupo. Su álbum Boston, Mass. es de lo mejor que he escuchado.
Los vi actuar en directo en Barcelona en 1986.
Bless you for that memory. May you live, eternally.
I like the singers raspy voice, it really makes and fits this song.

Boston's finest
This band was only mildly popular back in the day. Though it is fun to watch a young Dan Zanes
Reminds me of the days back in the Rathskeller in Boston...better backing and they'd have been a headlining act
