    My son is fascinated with American history right now. He loves the Rush Revere series. I can't believe how much factual information he retained from them! All of us enjoyed watching Liberty's Kids as well. I even leaned things from watching them and it was an easy way to get another one of my kiddos interested in history.

      Nice! My son is now listening to most of the "I Survived" series on audio. There are so many great (and interesting) history resources out there!

    So grateful not a lot has happened here for history 😆. A lot of the history comes with a lot of heartbreak. (Also in the Canadian prairies 😁)

    History encyclopedia can be a good resource and also the Imagination Station series (historical fiction) by Focus on the Family is great too.

    Thank you for sharing so many great books! History is one of my hardest subjects to teach as well. Textbooks are so dry. God bless ❤️

    Picture books have been my go to for history. I have tried a few things but I always come back to reading picture books based on a set timeline (for example we are doing Middle Ages/Renaissance so we read a "Joan of Arc" picture book and colored a picture of Joan of Arc. My oldest is 9 and still this works great!).
    My oldest also loves the "Royal Diaries" & "Dear America" series. We have 1 "Dear Canada" book. These have become so great since she began reading independently.

    I remember that Royal diaries Anastasia book!!!! So good! I was obsessed when the movie came out. I learned that my great-great-great-grandfather was actually a guard at the Russian palace during that time. Apparently he died during the uprising.

    Thank you so much! This is just what I needed. I’ve been struggling with finding a curriculum that will fit, but you sounds much like me and I love the method you have pursued. Excited to binge watch all your videos!

    Are you into charlotte mason? You sound like you would really enjoy her theory of living books. It's basically reading books on any subject by people who loved this topic.

      Yes, I often refer to our style as a relaxed Charlotte Mason method. I love her method, it's just a bit too structured for us.

    Hi Chantel, thanks so much for these! I'm British and you've introduced me to some books I didn't know about! I hope you get to travel in the future and feel free to ask for recommendations for historical sites if you ever do get to the UK! Rhiannon X

    Sam loved those Nathan Hale books! He read them all a bunch!! We use youtube videos to go along w/ our curriculum and lots of books but I find history so overwhelming if I don't have a spine. That said we skip parts and make it our own :-P

    • @IntentionalHomeschooling
      @IntentionalHomeschooling  3 года назад +1

      That sounds like a fun way to do it! What do you use as a spine?

      @@IntentionalHomeschooling This year we are studying Government and civics to go along w/ the election. So we are using Notgrass Uncle Sam and you.. in the past we have used sonlight and they used usborne books as the spine. We have also used Story of the World and pulled books to go along w/ that.
