The Morgan Aero 8 was an Insane Sports Car Hand Built For The World's Most Eccentric Car Guys

- Morgan is unlike any other car company operating today, although 110 years ago, they were like a lot of other car companies. The difference is they never really modernized - all of their cars are hand built from the ground up, each one is sold to a customer who ordered it before it was built, and no two are exactly alike. To order a Morgan is to take part in something very unlike the modern world, and I can only imagine it's a remarkably charming experience.
This Aero 8 was Morgan's first new design in 60 years when it came out in the early 2000s. Yes, 60 years. If that's really going to be the interval between new models, then they better get the design right. In the case of the Aero 8, they did.

"I used to get millions of tickets but I guess they slowed me down" Pulls out of a side road up to 70 in a 45 😜
Oh my God! They actually built this charming thing!
It's the corona whiskey!😂
That front end looks like Marty Moose after Clark W Griswald punched him in the nose.
(Muffled) “sorry folks, we’re closed for two weeks....”
What a fabulous comparison. Well done. I applaud you.
dude thats fuckn funny
Awesome!😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
Very cool man! That is a perfect analogy in my mind - well done!
The Cross-eyed Morgan.
From a mini!
@@iainmackenzie3704 The Beetle light cars are the cross eyes. MINI Blooper light cars don't suffer from that.
@@LynxStarAuto. I stand corrected!
I need to buy a car from you guys, just to meet you. Excellent reviews and smart comments.
Here's another smart comment bring your pocketbook when you come here ha ha
Greetings from Malvern Worcestershire! Went passed the factory today, like going back in time...
Ps Bill the weather forecast here for the next week is rain, rain, followed by er slightly more rain. Bring on some humidity!
I live in Malvern as well. Amazing their still going really👍🏼
Made in England - more of a warning label. Sprayed a mouthful of coffee when you came out with that! brilliant! :) Morgan banned Jeremy Clarkson from their showroom(s) and won't ley him test drive any due to what he said about the company! Regards!
Clarkson is a shit. Lives in the bloody Cotswolds; a crappy theme park.
@@terencefield3204 As spoken by someone who wished they lived in the Cotswolds......
@@dhdove LOL Nice try! I live in Normandy France. INFINTELY better. Civilised, anf far better placed for travel and enjoyment. AND I am NOT in a new petty-xenophobic tinpot country that offends pretty much everyone outside its borders.
Funny, most Brits (or Aussies where I am now) think "Made in the USA" as a warning regarding cars. Jeeps are infamous and most others failed (in terms of reliability) or sold poorly. The current Mustang is an exception in Australia, selling well, and fairly reliable.
@@terencefield3204 Hmmm..that's how much of the world sees the Socialist Republic of France!
I’ve gotten used to expecting the unexpected, but this somethin else. Great one, Bill. Really really cool!
Love the rambling Bill, the cat looking passed and weird made me laugh
yea, if I had to guess most of his viewers probably don't care about the car that much... outside of maybe 9mm storage and infant retention nets. I hope he never stops rambling.
I love how their "new" design still looks like mid-20th century at the latest. Love Morgan!
Buy one, then weep.
@@terencefield3204 I did - and now I weep with joy whenever I take her out.
When you promise to stop rambling it just doesn't work...
And that's what the people want😁
Great job educating us about automotive history, design, and function in the most engaging manner.

If someone thinks this guy rambles.......they need to shamble on down the road.
What do I think of this guys delivery???..Just call me a Rambler Ambassador !!!!
absolutely!!!
Papa Bill is back and on a roll😎 love to see it
Another fabulous video Bill !! Please keep 'em coming, they're the highlight of everyone's day (or so the comments say anyway)! p.s. PLEASE don't stop rambling, it's very entertaining!
" I’ve got that moist feeling throughout " just lmao
I've got to start digging up the yard for those jars of Confederate gold. I'll call when I find them. Amazing car. Already planning a new wardrobe for it. Something, "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen"-ish.
Don't stop rambling!! We love to hear you ramble!!
I like timing it, waiting how long before the first infamous huuuuuuhhh.....😁
It looks like its flying 60 miles an hour just sitting there still
Looks like junk sitting still
No thumbs down so far, so I guess Dalton hasn't watched this video yet
Have you ever seen the "How It's Made" episode where they do Worcestershire sauce? It's a terrifying insight, highly recommended.
Morgan’s are made in Malvern where I live Worcestershire sauce is actually made in the city of Worcester itself about 12 mile away. Being a Malvern local I see Morgan’s being test driven all the time around Malvern. To the locals it’s just a normal thing to see a Morgan driving around although you can hear them, before you see them.
Good Morgan Bill! Another superb video, sorry it is too hot and it is muggy. Here in Manchester England it is 10c and we had snow. It should be 20c at this time of year
If this Global Warming keeps up...we're all going to freeze to death !!!!!!!
The reason for the BMW engine, this was the first Morgan with one but now all Morgans have BMW power is that a BMW director, I forget who, is an enthusiast and owner. BMW accommodate Morgan to such a degree that when the 4.4 V8 ceased use in their own cars BMW continued to hand build it in the prototype shop (rumoured at a loss) just for Morgan until emission rules finished it completely. Now they use the 6 cylinder from the M340i and the 4 cylinder from the 330i.
Would GM have hand built 2 or 3 units a week of an out of production engine because they liked to see them in a Morgan?
I think G.M would. Many Americans are highly fond of Morgan’s because of their old fashioned English look. I’m sure G.M would of accompanied Morgan with specially built engines. Plus your supposed to be buying a English car with a German engine? I’d much rather have a American V8 under the hood. No one build better sturdy V8s than our American cousins do.. I have a Mustang with the V8 engine and she runs like a dream. In the 18 months I’ve had her, she’s gave me no problems, no check or alarm lights nothing, modern BMW engines wouldn’t do that.
I love hearing Bill talking about the goats and the weather.
If I was ever required to drive cross-country with one other person on this planet, including (or especially) someone in my beloved family, it would be Bill. This is the best, most enthralling, most spontaneous, and most informative car video channel on RUclips. Thanks Bill for generously sharing your personality and knowledge with us. The world would be a much better place if you had 6 billion subscribers.
Not me! He rambles far too much.
I feel like I’m back in time when Bill tells a story.
Miserable weather. Ahhh....as I'm sitting here in Buffalo NY watching another awesome video by Bill, and the words "frost advisory" pop up on my phone...on May 8th!
Oh my goodness! That was fantastic. I was lucky to have had a tour of the Morgan factory a few years ago and your review brought all the memories back. Loved the humour as always (!), the history lesson and that car, the noise. Wow. Made my day. Someone is going to be very lucky indeed with that car 😊😊😊
It's been raining and snowing in New York State well in to May plus we have the highest tax rates around. Come on up!!
That car looks like it had its face punched in
A lot of people enjoy "that moist feeling." Don't stop rambling. We enjoy it. This isn't the Florida Council of Tourism.
Beautiful car! I always loved Morgan's real English automobiles, also I agree with you Bill why would anyone buy an engine from your arch enemy?!
Thanks for this in depth video.
Neat & unique ride. I love that exhaust note. I could easily live without a stereo in this car.
Ramblin' Man Bill, love your videos especially your comment about the jump box for English built cars as a warning label that I know all too well, my Jaguar and Land Rover spent more time in the shop than on the road, but both were still wonderful vehicles.
Reports have it, the goats are now missing after caught on video walking on Porsche!!
Don’t stop rambling man,,,,that’s why I watch
Bill you should check German version of Morgan-Wiesmann, looks a bit better in my opinion, especially coupe. Anyway it was a pleasure as always. Take care.
Love these cars but this " Cross-Eyed Mary " generation is ridiculous looking. Whomever signed off on those headlights hopefully was fired or died. The company corrected the faux pas soon after.
How dare you Bill...Lea and Perings sauce is wonderful
WoooooooooooooooooW!!
Re rambling, nonsense. We come for the ramble, stay for the car.
No
You cant make your videos more concise
The rambling is the reason we subscribe
Its your signature style
WOWEEEEEE !!!! What a fricken BEAST !!!! I would pay big money just to go for a ride in that thing even as a passenger 😁👍
What a beauty. I know they previously mostly sold Plus 8s here. I'd actually love to see a Lexus 2UR V8 in one of these.
If you're on a British spree I'll await all the Caterham, TVR, Marcos and the like. Hopefully. I respect all these small automakers. I'd love to even drive something like a Ginetta road car if I could.
Exquisite, lots of fun, really appreciated, thank you Bill 👍
Man that's pig ugly! The prototype that Jay Leno drove some years ago with the Lancia tail lights had a really nice rear end but so much has changed in the production car that I personally don't like it from any angle. Never been a real fan of Morgan even if I am British but I'd much prefer an early 60's Morgan that that pig in panties.🇬🇧👍
Bill: It is absolutely CRUCIAL that you "ramble on" at the beginning of your videos. If your gonna shave time off the average video, do it for things regarding the actual car - we, quite ironically, care about that LESS. :- D
Bill!Your never going to stop rambling on!Give it up!Keep rambling!Makes these videos so much more interesting!Love your Florida weather reports you lucky bastard!👍
Bill, don't stop rambling its a big part of this channel! By the way I hate heat and humidity just as much as you do, its very humid here in Auckland this morning (about 100%) and it sucks. Love your videos.
Oh my God I love this car so much. This car is what I imagine in a sports car.
You are hysterical. Between being made in England and being powered by a BMW you should just have a tow truck follow you at all times.
That's beautiful! & I LOVE Lea & perrins Worcestershire sauce. Only brand of Worcestershire sauce I buy
Thanks, Bill, you brought my blood pressure down after the week that was. Best
I live in Malvern Worcestershire, England and I see Morgan test driving their cars round the town all the time. To us locals it’s nothing special. Visitors say “oh look a Morgan” and we’re like “yeh we see em all the time”😂
wow 2 videos in 2 days... beautiful car
Bill, you always nail your car history and its a real pleasure to hear your version of this jaunty Morgan story told in your inimitable style. You never ramble because your a humorous and spicy story teller. I love your weather reporting too and any reference to the cat calling. Thank you for sharing. A fan from Auckland NZ. Go Well Good Sir.
Good Morgan ! that made my Day !
Love the side , but these Headlights look so much crippled.
They could av done so much better.
Id rather have a Donkervoort , or a Wiesmann....
The rambling is what we like. There are plenty of vanilla characters with channels talking about cars. There's a reason we watch this channel and not theirs.
You ever think about clipping a GoPro to a baseball cap to free both hands?
I believe Oliver Rose had a Morgan in War of the Roses... Love your sense of humor, Bill.
Indeed he did and it got crushed by a large truck driven by Mrs. Rose! What a war! :D
ruclips.net/video/4Iza5db5Zvk/видео.html
That movie was my only frame of reference to the Morgan.
"I mean it Oliver!"
"Made in England is a warning label". The best one-liner ever!
Rich coming from you
Yeh we have built some s#*t in the past. For every good car we’ve built we’ve built ten crap cars after it😂😂🇬🇧
Designed by Colin Chapman, the legendary Colin Chapman?
It is good to see a Morgan! The biggest mistake I made when I went Florida for a speaking engagement in the summer was to arrive with a black suit and tie in Miami. It was extremely humid and hot 🥵
Looks like the incredible hulk punched that Morgan right in the mouth
It was 49 degrees this morning in northern GA.
I started hating the world around 2010
1990
Each video gets better and better.
THIS IS a curious car!!!!!! nice choice.
I like it Morgan made really interesting cars in my opinion I respect the minds of they team
If you don’t love cars and driving, a Morgan is not the car for you. Also, they actually built the 3 wheeler Morgan as a tax dodge. Because it classified as a motorcycle it was subject to a lower tax than a car.
Except here in Australia where the 3-wheeler is taxed and treated like a 4-wheel car, making it prohibitively expensive here.
What an unusual car, very interesting!! Sorry you're having to deal with the muggy nasty weather. If you want to live by an iceberg, hang out with my wife for a while!! 🤪🥴🤕😮😳
Contact Governor DeSantis to get you out of the ticket you’re an ambassador for Florida Automotives.
Nooooo we tune in to hear the ramblings and extra commentary
If you see "Made in England" stamped on a car as a warning label, just listen to Divine's "Maid in England" album. THAT deserves a warning label!
Bill, don’t forget that the +8 had the Rover V8 installed, this engine was actually based on Buick’s aluminum V8, tools to make this engine was sold to Rover back in the ‘60s.....So essentially you can say that there was an american engine in some of their cars! The Corvette engine would be too heavy for this type of car, I would say, but that said, they could have chosen something else than a BMW engine🤢
no no we like it when you rabble lmao!!!!!
I hate humidity... love Worcestershire sauce
A friend from my youth had an older brother who drove Morgans. This was in the early ‘70s. An eccentric guy with a very eccentric family. They also loved Saab. Great review Bill!!
Bill please don't lose to much of you're rant it makes it interesting and I would miss it
Hey Bill that thing is ugly but it does sounds good!!!!
Bill, love the video. Fantastic commentary as always. Hate to tell you, but it's not a secret if you tell us. Lol. Don't change.
I drove an early Morgan V8 some years ago. Hairy, uncomfortable but a great little car all round.
Don’t stop rambling for the love of god !
+1. Lucky you Herr Bill. . A Morgan Aero 8 in the flesh... That's Used Car Shop clout! .. 99% of New Car Dealership sales staff wouldn't know what a Morgan Aero 8 coach is..... let alone spell Morgan. . An old school Coachbuilder with present-day materials & technology. . The new owner is one lucky soul.
I’ve got to figure out a way to be your neighbor and sit in a lawn chair, watching you do your car videos in the Florida mornings.
@Modern Classic Collectables audience member.
@Modern Classic Collectables Heck yeah! I'd love to sit in my back yard and drink bottomless bloody Mary's or mimosas and watch Bill make these videos. Now that would be a perfect life!!! Cheers!
Then go to Los Angeles to watch Shango066 try to bring an old vintage TV or radio back to life.
Please stop complaining about living in a very nice house in Naples.
That’s his former boss’s house: Peter. He used to own AutoHaus
Looks like a beautiful day in Florida. Did you say it was 83? Sounds perfect.
For your information.Morgan used a Buick designed V8 for many years.Le Mans is pronounced Le Mon and Jaguar isn't Jagwaar.Subscribed.
But the rambling is the fun part.....
Oh wow, Bills still alive!
I can honestly say yours are the only videos on RUclips I do not wish were more concise
I won't ramble on.......goes on to give us the history of Morgan.😁 Love your vids Bill, keep it up.👍
Bill, please.........I LOVE the cars you share, but come spend a few winters here in Boston/Massachusetts/New England, & THEN you'll REALLY have something to complain about with the weather.
Sounds like swampass city down there. Very pleasant here in North Georgia today.
Beautiful and what a symphony from that BMW V8.
NC appears to be famous for rural step down speed limits. My mom lives in Western NC and it's the same way. 55, 45, 35, 25. You got to watch for it. It makes it very easy for them to write tickets.
Hahahahaa. What a way to star the video changing the greeting, Bill
Morgan, these are cool cars. In the movie War of the Roses with Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner, I remember she smashed the hell of the Morgan with her large truck. Such an over the top movie lol.
How can you praise the magical notes of that awesome M62 32 valve quad overhead cam BMW engine and then ask why Morgan chose it?
If you don't want to be wet, don't drive one in the rain. Leaks were always one of their little problems that the driver and passenger had to put up with and get used to.
I watched as two gentlemen drove a new one from the UK into France while it was raining, and they got a little wet over leaks.
That steering wheel was shaking like a washing machine out of balance when he was on the highway.
That comment about using engines from "The Hun" reminds me of Bob Hoskin's "I've sh*t 'em" speech from the end of The Long Good Friday.
Early Bristol engines were essentially BMW engines, a British officer rekindled VW after WW2, Triumph and Daimler have German connections, GM and Ford both had British and German divisions for nearly 100 years which became complicated during the War. BMW once owned Rover and VW owns Bentley. We have similar climates and food. Our Royal family is essentially German. We actually have a lot in common. Historically, we conflict more with our direct neighbours, the French.
Things I look for in Bill’s videos in priority order:
1) Weather report.
2) Bird status.
3) Goat/cat sightings.
4) Back seat size for chipper Canadians.
5) Dalton’s crappy windshield job.
6) Exasperating sighs.
7) Bad song on the radio.
8) Car review.
Hiya Bill-
For some reason, yootoob decided that I needed to see a baby diaper commercial before I watched this Morgan review.
It struck me almost as funny as your personal delivery strikes me.
I suppose the commercials that are run before every video are very random, but JUST the thought of you possibly knowing that this story had a diaper commercial tacked on before it, well, let's just say I'd LOVE to hear your thoughts on THAT.😂
As for "getting to the point faster" in your reviews, PLEASE DON'T be too hasty to cut out the extra commentary.
You Sir, are a Zen Master in the Art of Smartassery and I look forward to every video that you produce.
Cheers!
