  • How do you fix a deep overbite?
    Often, deep overbites can be corrected as part of orthodontic treatment. In severe cases the patient may require surgery to correct both the jaw relationships and the teeth together. Overbite correction surgery is something patents would need to be referred for.
    Is deep bite common?
    Deep bite is one of the most common malocclusion seen in children as well as adults and is most difficult to treat successfully. Unfavorable sequel of this malocclusion predisposes a patient to periodontal involvement, functional problems, and temporomandibular joint disturbance.
    Does a deep bite need to be corrected?
    Unraveling the crowding and crookedness that usually accompanies deep bites requires that the deep bite be corrected to allow room to align the crowded teeth.
    How long do you have to wear a bite plate with braces?
    For optimal results, the bite plate should be worn 24 hours a day and only removed for eating and brushing. As with any orthodontic appliance, you should brush all parts of your bite plate as well as your teeth. Depending on the amount of correction needed, the bite plate may be worn for 3 to 6 months.
    Is a bite plate necessary?
    The fixed bite plate is a very important part of your orthodontic treatment, if needed. It is cemented to your teeth to protect your lower braces and reduce the depth of your bite. This appliance will allow your back teeth to grow while it holds your front teeth.

      @@ToothTime Thanks! and What types of food are best to eat while wearing a fixed bite plate?

    • @ToothTime
      @ToothTime  Месяц назад

      In general when you have braces or any orthodontic appliance, it's best to stick to soft foods like yogurt, mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs, pasta, and smoothies. You can still enjoy fruits and veggies if you cut them into small pieces. However, avoid sticky treats like caramel and gummy candies, hard foods like nuts and popcorn, and chewy foods like bagels, as they can damage your braces. Following these tips will keep your braces in good shape and help your smile stay on track! 😁🦷

    I have a cross bite class 2, any information about it?

    • @ToothTime
      @ToothTime  4 месяца назад +1

      Hi there my friend! And a Class 2 cross bite in orthodontics refers to a specific type of malocclusion where the upper teeth significantly overlap the lower teeth when biting down. It's also known as an (deep bite) so that's why we are using the bite plate on the video. This condition can cause difficulty chewing, speech problems, and jaw pain. Treatment usually involves orthodontic interventions like braces or clear aligners to correct the alignment of the teeth and jaws. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask! Question: I recently got my bite plate removed and I noticed that the gums at the back of my front teeth are swollen and pratcially reach the middle of my teeth but my gums don't hurt. Is this normal?

    • @ToothTime
      @ToothTime  3 месяца назад

      It's not normal but it's common in patients that wear bite plates for a couple of months, Your gums should go back to normal (If you have an excellent dental hygiene routine) also when was your last dental cleaning as well? With braces you should get a dental cleaning every 4 months instead every 6 months, Thanks for watching! Don’t forget to give us a like and subscribe to our channel! That would help us a lot! 🦷🧡

      Hi my friend so sorry to hear about your issue, and what do you mean by misaligned ? It was aligned before and now it's not or it was always misaligned and you start experiencing issues in the past 5 months? eating only on 1 side it's not going to affect the movement, and when you get your braces off relapse it's always a possibility no matter what so that's why we recommend using retainer as long as you can!
