It's always amazed me there's a glue that is strong enough to stay in a wet mouth that changes temperature with hot or cold foods and still holds for years on end. I had braces for two years when I was 10 and 11, many, many moons ago.

I got my braces off a few hours ago and it wasn’t bad at all! Before the appointment I was super nervous about the drill to take the glue off, but it didn’t hurt and it took 2 minutes. However, if you have sensitive teeth to the cold then I recommend asking your dentist to not use the suction because that blows cold air in your mouth. Overall, this process is super easy and quick and my teeth feel great!

I had Invisalign June 28th 2016-November 29th 2018. Switched orthodontist. I had ceramic braces December 5th 2018-March 9th 2020. Lost my retainer in July 2020. Got a frenectomy in April 2021. Got Invisalign for the second and final time March 28th 2022-June 9th 2022. I made the mistake of not purchasing the unlimited retainer package when I got my ceramic braces off. I made sure I did that this time. I’m so happy
I was 14 when I got braces. I'm 33 now and I still remember the pain of having to bite down to get those molar bands on. The worst pain.

I’m getting mine take off tomorrow and I’m so excited! I’ve had braces for 2 years now and I want to see my smile! I didn’t really mind having braces cause they felt normal and I was able to go without breaking a single bracket! This is crazy bc I broke every rule😭 I ate popcorn, bit an apple, ate gum, and basically any remaining rule😅! To those getting there braces off or on GOOD LUCK ❤

@@vMonark No, it didn't change my face at all, just my smile and that too for the better! Your features will not change unless the ortho tells you otherwise. You can ofc ask your ortho about this, but for me my face has not changed!

@chuuchuu yeah it also happened to me when I first got my braces, lol. I recommend eating cold food like ice cream, ice lollies etc. it really helped ease the pain when I first got my braces.

I am on my fourth journey of braces, first time was in 1985 with extra oral too, then two other attempts that flopped.
Now I am wearing them again with another orthodontist, and I use Roth prescription. Now I study my case and discuss with my dentist 🤣
There will be a long journey...around two and half years, they didn't use 3x3 retainers, my first dentist didn't clean the resin, was a mess, so glad that now I have more technology, springs, mini implants and a great professional.

girl I can't wait until I get my braces off. I first started out with Invisalign but I wasn't being constant with it so I witched over to braces about 4/5 months ago and man I can def see a difference with the straightness of my teeth

yesterday i finally put the braces and i'm 24, its a dream of a lifetime. for the moment it is very painful but i am really happy and grateful to be able to have a beautiful smile in the future.

Yeah I know what orthodontists do. I was going to get braces but I changed my mind because I hate the idea of wearing retainers for your whole life after braces just to keep your teeth straight because I've heard teeth will shift back to how they used to look if you stop wearing retainers even if it's worth it I still hate hearing how that sounds.

Hi my friend and I understand your comment but the gums bleeding in this case it's because of the Gingivitis! Sometimes when you have braces for a long time and not a super good dental hygiene... Gingivitis means inflammation of the gums, or gingiva. It commonly occurs because a film of plaque, or bacteria, accumulates on the teeth. Gingivitis is a non-destructive type of periodontal disease, but untreated gingivitis can progress to periodontitis. This is more serious and can eventually lead to loss of teeth. That’s called a gingivectomy. Performed by a dentist.
That's nice. My braces journey is not easy too. Just to prep for my damon braces, I had 8 teeth removed (4 premolars & 4 wisdom teeth, with 1 wisdom tooth removal via surgery). Then I have 2 anchorage screws on top to help with bringing in my bad protrusion. With all the powerchains & elastic bands to fix my badly misaligned teeth that caused my asymmetrical facial profile. It has only now reached 1 year of braces. Still have another plus-minus 1 year😭 Really hope it's all worth it like this.

I got braces when I was in middle school. I had them on for a little less than a year when at an appointment my dentist asked me if I mind them taking the braces off. In my mind I was a bit confused because my front teeth weren't completely straight yet but I was too shy to say anything against them so I agreed. I'm 20 now and really frustrated about my teeth and the way they asked me. They didn't ask me if I was happy w how my teeth looked like at first. I'm also a dental hygienist student at the moment and I can't afford to straighten my teeth again yet. I'm so mad they couldn't finish it well 'cause I wouldn't propably need to wear retainers after as opposed to straightening my teeth later in life.

@@Chad-pi5if I was in my late 20s when I had them but it didn’t affect my gums it does put pressure on your gums when they tighten the braces they do that every 6 weeks you must come to every appointment to get your braces off faster
@@asanteimanii2125 yes last week i got my braces. Did you feel any difference in the gum line after getting the braces or after everytime you got the new wire? Like i feel my gum got a little thicker maybe because it is changing the tooth alignment. It feels scary sometimes

I got my braces off nearly a year or 2 ago (I can't remeber) but when they were taking mine off, I couldn't stop crying. My mum wasn't allowed in the room due to covid and I hated the noise/cracking sound. The "pressure" also felt like my teeth were trying to be ripped out. Other than the checkups, whenever I was having something done to my teeth relating to my braces, I think I can say that it is some of the worst experiences Ive had in my life!!

Same and the orthodontist was horrid and condescending.
They have no idea when mine are coming off and I’m sad 😭💔 but I haven’t had them long. Only 7 months but they say my teeth have moved much faster than they expected (no pain meds ever and wearing those rubberbands like CRAZY I assume)
So I’m hoping for like another 8 months 😭🙌🏽

does the glue removal hurt? i recently had a bracket come off and they had to scrape the glue off but will they do they for when i get my whole braces removed bc it hurt sooo bad

That probably wasn’t painful, it was more than likely just because there was tools in her mouth and if you think about it, probably also because she just got her braces off and the metal band things on her back teeth are poking a bit into her gums

Make sure you tell your orthodontist to remove all the glue from the front and back of your teeth! I didn’t think twice about it, I was just happy to get them off. Mine didn’t do a very thorough job and 8 years later I still have yellowish glue stuck on both sides of some of my teeth, and am paying to get them filed off 🙃

@@prpl_skies exactly, but 15 year old me didn’t do a thorough inspection of my teeth after, she just handed me a small mirror to look in and as I had to go back to school after my appointment it was rushed.
U can get it removed now
my anxious self made me panic during half of the procedure so at the end it seemed like i didnt enjoy the result because i was still panicking on the inside although i really liked my teeth and was grateful for the hard work they did for me. i still think about that sometimes, hope i didnt come off as rude :( i hate my minor panic attacks so much

Got mines off today :)) tbh taking them off was really hurtful, not only “feeling sore” but more real pain because the glue was very hard. Retainers still feel very weird and the food keeps getting stuck in them. Not sure how to feel about having the braces off

I had orthodontic plates for 4 years then braces for two and a half years. All this when I was 14, 15, 16. Needless to say, no boys were interested in me. Quite psychologically damaging for a young teen when all her friends were going on dates etc. Now 20 years later, my bottom teeth moved back to the position they were before braces. Oh well.
you didn t wear retainers?
@@evelyn4037 Yeah I did, and all was good for many years. However, very slowly my bottom teeth moved, almost back to what they were. :(

@@lindamac3846 My lower teeth shifted despite my wearing retainers, too. I had braces on the bottom again. After everything I endured, I insist on maintaining perfection.
Taking my braces off tomorrow after 26 months! Cant wait !
