As a native uzbek to be honest I am surprised how accurate your information is about us being turkic, our culture, history... Glad that it seems like you had a very good trip to our country. Hope that Tales From the Road will never end and you will visit Uzbekistan again in the future! By the way if you visit Uzbekistan in July and all the way till mid August, try to go the mountains that are like in an hour ride distance from Tashkent with its beautiful and clean mountain lakes and refreshing icy rivers. FYI: Water melon season starts mid June and after first decade of July we have a melon season. This is the best time to find out how the real melons and water melons taste like. Enjoy!!!

We are not fully a turkic nation! Go to Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khorezm and tell me if you think we are turkic. It is the government that wants to portray the country turkic.

Fully agree with your blog. All your information is spot on. After Tashkent I’m currently in Bukhara city and leaving for Samarkand tomorrow. Good luck with your travels. Btw gas is about USD 0.45 per litre all coming from Russia. Apparently U.S. sanctions don’t work here. Everything is ridiculously cheap here.
I visited Uzbekistan 4 months ago.
It is marvelous. I loved it so much I wants to go back and spend a couple of months there.

Oh man! One of my favorite countries that I’ve visited! Truly it’s hard to explain to someone who has not been to Uzbekistan how it really is….one has to see it to believe it. But kudos for doing a great job in at least doing some justice to it.
On a very serious note, I am a Black American thinking of visiting this beautiful country. Will I be welcome there.
@@kevintownsend3840 I myself as a POC never felt any discrimination there. And the people were some of the most welcoming in earth. All along the Silk Route over centuries people of various races and origins have traveled, so visitors from far of places have been quite the norm, and have been part of this inherent nature of Central Asian people to welcome their guests with whatever they have.
One thing you might see, but I wouldn't take it to heart as it absolutely comes from a place of pure natural curiosity and reflects the simple, open nature of the people. A lot of locals might jump to conclusions of where you might come from. For me - people thought I was from Iran, Turkey, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Spain, Kazakhstan, etc...though I'm from India. So in your case you might have people try to guess where you are from based on their looks - so they might often refer places in Africa, just based on that. But as I said, you will see the simplicity and natural curiosity in those responses and never any discrimination...hope that helps.

В советское время было много студентов из Африки.как то так. Приезжайте,здесь народ больше уважает Америку чем Россию(кроме некоторых исламских фундаменталистов). Просто некоторые могут глазеть вам из-за (чисто из-за интереса ) По причине пандемии (2020-2022)здесь случайно оказались выходцы из бедных стран Африки(правда их единицы). Они тогда хотели транзитным через Узбекистан попасть в Европу,но не получилось. Так вот они нашли здесь работу(хотя многие наши сами едут работать за границу). Один из них стал менеджером одного ресторана,начинал как официант. У нас много проблем(политических,бытовых,особенно экономических). Но народ по гостеприимству и дружелюбию может считаться многим как шаблон. В Бруклине есть супермаркет "Ташкент"(узбекский). В Данный момент он самый популярный в том районе,кроме продуктов питания там более 200видов готовой еды. Сейчас многие русские мигранты в Америке жалуются что туда едут всё больше мигрантов из Узбекистана. Так как мы -узбеки намного трудолюбивые чем они,не могут они конкурировать с нами,и мы более сплочённые чем они.как то так. Приезжай брат к нам,не пожалеешь. Если есть семья приезжай с ними. Здесь очень любят детей(есть даже поговорка"чужих детей не бывает"),и очень уважают старое поколение.

great and historical country. Expected increasing tourism in the coming 5 to 10 years... The land of the start of logarithmic development. The first practical experience of calculating the number of days in a year.
Albukhari, altermethi and Alkhawarizimi( logarithmic scientists) scholarship were here. Agriculture land is huge. Variation on temperature during the year and during the day, let it to produce special fruits. People are meat eaters and humble . more to be development on this countery specailly on energy sources and roads construction.

Great video! I totally agree with your advice and recommendations. I hope more Westerners are inspired to visit there, it is truly a unique and wonderful country. As an older woman I felt very safe in all the major tourist areas. The people are very friendly and willing to help if you need directions. Go before it's overrun with tourists, it will be one your your favorite countries too.

I’m currently staying at Juma Daler in Bukhara. Excellent hotel for very cheap price including great breakfast. Helpful management as well.

Assalomu alikum ...We are happy for your visit InshaAllah .. There are a lot of cars on the streets of Tashkent and most Uzbeks speak Russian and Uzbek.. The best suggestion is to come with a guide ... But the people of my country are very hospitable. There are many hotels in Tashkent. There are also many Uzbeks, but it is good to have a guide to take you to the wonderful, historical places and give information about them.😊

I totally agree. I have been i Uzbekistan several times and it is really wonderful. The city of Bukhara, you can feel how it must have been traveling with a caravan from Iran through the desert, finding an oasis with water and food. Coming to Samarkand the learned city where the son of Timur Lenk found of the dynasty built an astronomical observatory, 1435 ad nearly one century before Copernicus and Kepler. and the museum that shows how advanced they were. And you must visit the grave of Daniel (you know Daniel and the lions and Nebuchadnezzar ) (I say no more).
I would advise a trip in spring or fall due to the desert summer climate. The market in Tashkent is marvelous..

2. What about Amersoy ? Would you recommend going there as well ?

I will be visiting Uzbekistan from Italy in august. Everything looks amazing from the people to the cities to the food, only thing im afraid of is the heat. Would it be considered culturally insensitive to wear bermuda shorts that fall slightly below the knee?

I don't know why,but everyone praises Bukhara more because it seems to be more authentic than Samarkand. In Samarkand they restored many historical buildings and it may seem to be a little fakey. But,stil.. I would recommend you Samarkand and it's iconic site Registan.
I am from Uzbekistan. Absolutely I highly recommend both of them lovely place to visit. I am actually from Bukhara. I was born and grow up in there. Now living in Tashkent. Do it. Never regret the decision.
Both of them are ancient places. Also Khiva. If you want to travel to Uzbekistan you willnt go to Bukhara, Samarkand. I can tell it will be big mistake.

I’m a native here in Tashkent. I would avoid extreme weather times like middle of winter and July/August because it gets really hot.

I'm an older woman who travelled alone in Uzbekistan. I always felt very safe and found the Uzbek people delightful. It will help if you learn a few words of Uzbek before you go. All the major tourist sites have "tourist police" hubs staffed with people who speak English perfectly. All that said, you need to be cautious as you would anywhere. After a day of walking I usually collapsed into bed early and didn't go out much at night.
I am from Canada, tried to apply for e visa and it says its a visa free entry for upto 30 days. Does that mean its not required or is visa upon arrival?
yeah sure. you don't have to take visa. in the last 5 years local government is more paying attention tourism industry.
Note that Americans over 55 don't need a visa. I am going to visit in February when it will be cold. Probably not idea, but surely wont be crowded with tourists.

Bro you talking about safest place on earth i guarantee you, locals have more cash than any American, i have seen when they pulled up there pocket money and they have more Dollars than i have in my pockets here in US, so yeah, no one cares where you from, how much cash you have, no crime at all, you never hear anyone shooting anyone or stabbing, there crime rate is almost 0.

You can speak turkish, but not many people understand 100% many words or phrases have similar meaning only pronunciation plays big role.

It’s very isolated and ruled by a dictator. Please look up Turkmenistan and you’ll see how it’s similar to North Korea.
