  • The Betta needs a name! I really can't think of a good one, so drop in the comments what he should be called.
After the success of the shopping list video I thought I would show you a super simple Betta setup that any beginner fishkeeper can achieve.
For anyone interested in the aquarium it is an Interpet Aqua Cube 28 litre. It suited this build perfectly being simple to set up and not expensive to buy.
I set this up in one afternoon with very easy to obtain items. The Betta fish was added after the filter and heater had been running for around 7-9 days, I added Tap Water Safe and Filter Start to make the aquarium safe.
Always remember to test your water as often as you can, do small, regular water changes and feed sparingly until your tank is fully mature.
    Aquarium plant list:
    Elodea densa
    Hygrophila polysperma
    Limnophila sessiflora
    Anubias nana
    Anubias nana bonsai
    Cryptocoryne nevellii
    The shopping list is:

    Lighting:
    Heater:
    Thermometer:
    Air Pump:
    Tap Water Conditioner:

Speaking of wood... I read that you can use any wood (from the garden etc) in an aquarium and that there isn’t ANY wood toxic to fish. It sounds ridiculous to me, but would like to get your take on it. 😊

Love your timelapse song 😂 Just wanted to comment and thank you for making these helpful videos for TRUE newbies. I’ve been watching so many videos from so many channels over the past month and have seen some beautiful things and gotten some good tips, but I think it’s hard for most experienced people to remember just how basic a new hobbyist needs info to be to get started. It’s clear that you are super knowledgeable but also a very good teacher who can share that knowledge in an accessible, understandable way - thank you SO MUCH for starting this RUclips channel! And thanks to MD for introducing us to you! Please keep making content for us noobs if you can, because you’re a fantastic resource and very fun to watch! I wish you much deserved success in your shop and your channel!

It's a hard thing to remember where people start I'm the hobby, luckily I deal with first time fishkeepers most days. Making a video like this is just like helping out customers in the store. One of the best bits of my job is starting people on their route into the hobby. ❤️❤️❤️

For the longtimers there might be just for inspiration, but there are some things, at least for me, that are newfound knowledge! I myself have never found Bettas all that likable, I´m more of a tetra man myself, but no matter the fish it is allways fun (and good) to see a new setup! I love Betta's. I bread them and showed them for most of my life. I had to stop almost 3 years ago when the sight problems sprang up. I am currently on my last one that I bread and he is OLD for a betta. Planning is still ongoing. My daughter is not getting a 200 gql (750 L) as I can not support the floor in our 140 year old home, in the area we would put it. Well I could to kick my Dad out of his workshop office. So we are working on the new plan. I still have my old office credensa that housed a 75 gal (270 L or I think what you call a 4 foot) for 30 years and we will probably use it. Large tank weight (200 gal 750 L all said and done is over 1000 lb) might be a talking point as you all over the ponders have homes that are easily 3 times or more the age of my house.

I tried the glue stuff too and always...always forgot to put on gloves and get glue all over my fingers. The feeling is horrible and for some reason 60% of my glued on plants just get lose after a week or so. A bit frustrating but those that actually stay put look really good in the end. Just moss never wants to work.

Great video as always. Love your plant selection. I would put a black background on the tank, will render that filter almost invisible.
