It's probably in the 70s F, which isn't actually tropical feeling lol. I put my hand in a 77° aquarium and it's chilly on my skin, now, if he hit Discus temps, then he'd be sweating a little lol.
As someone who doesn't have a tank but is now interested in getting one, I'd really like some more plant maintenance videos. I feel like I know how to set up a good tank after all these videos, but how do I trim up the plants when they get too big?
I love a Betta. I lost my beautiful black mustard gas boy "Bruce" recently. He was the most timid and amazing looking Betta imaginable. It always feels a little personal, I wish they lived longer. I'm thinking of doing a new little setup solely for another, these superfish tanks look great.
If anyone in the states is interested in products identical to the Superfish ones there is a company called SR Aquaristik that sells the same tanks but rebranded.
Awsome video and so glad that you have shown that you don't need tons of money to enjoy a piece of nature in your home. I had one of these tanks before my move to Saltwater Reef Tanks and they are perfect to start any one off.
This is the first betta video you've done since I started following you. Bettas are my fav, so I've watched all your other betta videos several times over! Really cool to finally catch one brand spankin new like this!
Great review for a great tank! I like how long it is, most fish prefer footprint to height and don't mesh well with cube-shaped nano tanks. Sacrificing height for more length was certainly a good call! That kind of footprint would even let you keep schooling fish, which is not very feasible or humane in most nano tanks. If you're not into bettas, some dwarf rasboras, pygmy cories or anchor catfish would also feel perfectly at home in one of these.
Iv always kept betas with other fish and never ever had problems, u just need to know what type of fish. Iv got 4 peacock gudgeons in with mine and they are great.
I got a Superfish Starter 50 for £80. Brilliant, comes with everything you need. Got some external products like another filter as the one that came with it uses a cartridge filter and other than that, absolutely perfect!
I have an outdoor water garden pond about 3,000 gallons. I had Koi and named them. They were awesome!!! When I went outside they all swam to the waters edge. I just bought a kit and haven't planted or filled it yet, and I'm already looking at the next aquarium setup I think I'd like. Cool to be a part of this community. Thanks for the videos.

Hi, I'd loved the way your tanks worked out. I've got only one question? Is there a timer in the lighting? Or do you have to control it manually, because when your on a Holliday you can't control the light?
I have multiple saltwater tanks and that's always been my thing.. however I still watch all your videos, and my toddler has asked for a beta tank.. so just purchased this tank in the USA. (SR Aquaristk) and can't wait to set it up for her!

Hey MD, love your work. I'm wondering what your thoughts on mesh filter media bags for substrate are? I think I saw you use them in a different video that I can no longer find. Did you change your mind on using them?
I also love their stuff! Though, I did just get a Juwel Lido cabinet for my Superfish 90 scaper tank since this one comes cheaper than the Superfish cabinet and all the furniture in that part of the room has even colours and the Superfish stand with patterned doors would be too loud in there.
Hi. I was thinking of getting the home 30. But what heater would you recommend to fit in nicely into the home 30. I've read that some heaters have a dial at the top of the heater which doesn't allow the lid to close over the filter and heater area. Can you please mention this point when you talk about lights with switches either in the lid (like this one) or has a press button switch on the cord. I have a light with a press button switch on the cord but it doesn't come on when power is restored. Someone needs to press the button. So my timer is really only good for turning it off. Thanks
@MD - Loving your videos! After setting up a tank with compost or nutri base, are the fish enough to keep the nutrients going for the plants? Or will you have to rebuild the tank every 6-months or something?
Prob is the light units don’t last and it’s very difficult to get replacements. Mine only lasted a year so not sure on the light longevity or quality. Also replaced the filter.
It seems like any sort of pet keeping -aside from dogs & cats is really a dying hobby in the US. Almost all the cool “mom & pop” shops are being replaced with giant pet “super stores” like “PetCo.”
You can.. mostly. Superfish is the European brand and distributor for those tanks. But some of them are rebranded and sold by SR Aquaristik in the US. (I hope it's ok to say this since it does not bite away any Superfish sales.) :)
This looks amazing! I wish I could get the plants here in Western Australia. There's many places in other parts of Australia which sell a lot of aquatic plants, but they don't ship to WA because we have different customs/bio laws -_-
Excellent tutorial matey. Love all the laughs and stuff, one of the reasons I subscribed to the channel, but also nice to see you getting back to tutorials for beginners.
Hey MD do you find that your substrate mix does as well as the fluval stratum substrates? Cost wise I hate buying the fluval since it’s like $23 for a 5-6lbs bag 😅. Can you get the pond compost in small bags for littler tanks? Also love the little stowaway shrimp - what a lucky lil guy
Hey MD, I have the same tank but the 60 version and im new to the hobby. I have sticks that are way smaller then the ones youre using and those sizes at my LFS are like 16.50 a piece, so do you maybe have some advise to make them look bigger? I have some lava rock as well but I dont really want that to be the main hardscape of the aquarium. Thanks in advance.
They will not. Superfish is the european brand and distributor for those tanks. Have a look for SR Aquaristik tho. That's the US rebrand destributor for most of superfishes tanks.
I JUST got approval to set up a 10gal in my student apartment…I was planning on doing a betta setup and was wishing you had a recent betta video, and here it is!!!🩷
love your vids and especially scaping, where can i get the nutri base from, i been looking and cant find a place i can get it from, can you link me a website i can order it from if poss please
I love this setup, and I'm a big fan of superfish filters and heaters. They were what I started with. They are always great for beginners. But you are paying for the design on this. I think it must be said that you could do this setup far cheaper, even using a superfish heater and filter with a cheaper light and cheaper, but simpler tank.
Hi from Washington DC. Tried the locator and didn’t see any places I could purchase these. Best way to order these online in USA? I’m done with biorb tanks. Can you do a video on those…. Ready for real plants!

Hi there great videos..............any chance you could have a longer period of video of just the completed tank and fish at the end for us to enjoy?
hey MD - could you pop in a soil and plant list with recommended quantities for a betta tank pls?
Hi
Does the light come back on when power is restored at the power point (ie if on a timer) and if so, does it remember the previous lighting level?
Can you please mention this point when you talk about lights with switches either in the lid (like this one) or has a press button switch on the cord.
I have a light with a press button switch on the cord but it doesn't come on when power is restored. Someone needs to press the button. So my timer is really only good for turning it off.
Thanks
Do you not recommend using the media bags for the nutri base anymore?
What are the catfish in the tank with Chunks?, they look like a nice alternative to Cory's with bigger fish.

After setting up a tank with compost or nutri base, are the fish enough to keep the nutrients going for the plants? Or will you have to rebuild the tank every 6-months or something?
Same here! I stopped naming them too, I understand
Prob is the light units don’t last and it’s very difficult to get replacements. Mine only lasted a year so not sure on the light longevity or quality. Also replaced the filter.

Could I just use aquatic soil and sand to cap it ?
Dont go into the light!!! That is seriously bright! Love this new video! ❤
I like to keep my two betta fish in 20 gallon community tanks (60 x 40 x 40).
Wish we could get these kits in the US. Thanks for the great vid.
just done 2 x Betta tanks using the Aqua One Sanctury tank MD. Thats 4 tanks in my living room now haha! 3 freshwater and 1 marine :)
Dont we do nutrient cycling??? Like leaving the tank undisturbed for few days???
Hey MD, I have the same tank but the 60 version and im new to the hobby. I have sticks that are way smaller then the ones youre using and those sizes at my LFS are like 16.50 a piece, so do you maybe have some advise to make them look bigger? I have some lava rock as well but I dont really want that to be the main hardscape of the aquarium. Thanks in advance.
Is nutribase shrimp safe?? Neocardinia specifically...
After a long hard day of work I like to sit down and watch the uploads. Great video to decompress
At the end you say “minimal maintenance.” What would be the maintenance for a tank like this? Really want to try something similar.
SuperFish REALLY needs to sell in the US
They will not. Superfish is the european brand and distributor for those tanks. Have a look for SR Aquaristik tho. That's the US rebrand destributor for most of superfishes tanks.
what was the plant you used where you said you were gonna put the name of it on the screen?
Is the wood pre soaked to remove tannins?
the coffeefolia is great for a beta, they love to lay on leaves
What filter do you use with your Superfish 140's?
I JUST got approval to set up a 10gal in my student apartment…I was planning on doing a betta setup and was wishing you had a recent betta video, and here it is!!!🩷
I have a 10 gallon tank how can I make a ecosystem with shrimp in there without filter just heater but how would I cycle the tank
Could you put any other fish in the tank? And more shrimp?
What are the red and silver fish in with timmy
love your vids and especially scaping, where can i get the nutri base from, i been looking and cant find a place i can get it from, can you link me a website i can order it from if poss please
How much roughly is the build? Love how you filled it with plants
What kind of set up would be best for my male betta I believe he is a veil crown tail fish hybrid
That Betta is outrageously beautiful. That is an intense and vibrant red.
Whats a good size tank or a tank size that I could 2 female betta fish together in?
Why have you stopped issuing the nylon zip bags for nutrition soil?
Is this fish tank the same as the Hailea 25l? ( I'm from New Zealand don't know if that helps)
Is super fish only a UK site? What would the US version be? Sorry if this is a stupid question!
Beautiful tanks! That is one lucky Betta. His tank is really nice.
I find that only Crypts can survive my tank setups. What similar plants can you recommend?
Hi from Washington DC. Tried the locator and didn’t see any places I could purchase these. Best way to order these online in USA? I’m done with biorb tanks. Can you do a video on those…. Ready for real plants!
