Awesome, thanks for your support. It should be similar for the 7840 one as well. Only part is whether amd fixes their auto detect for the 7840 by then (I assume it will be)
My 2023 Win 4 arrived with a completely broken windows install and in Chinese as well. Great! So bloody unstable. Managed to repair it mostly but a massive PITA.
@@okestgamer trial and error. It's still not right. Managed to get firmware updated and most drivers I think needed from GPD, but Windows does still fail to boot sometimes. Turning off fast boot has helped a bit.
many thanks yeah , for me the video for each process IS TOO QUICK..... so guess need to rewind frequently for each program i wanna download and install . It's a Good Video anyway 👍🏼❤
Yeah it's always finding balance for speed, if I go too in depth or slow people stop watching and the video doesn't go very far. One tip I would suggest is trying to set speed to .75 if you end up seeing another video that's too quick
You forgot to debloat Windowz 11 for better performance and possibly battery life debloat removes some unecessary background processes for a gaming handheld like printing services
Those are also good to do, with these videos you have to keep the scope to a certain limit though. I’ve considered adding a second video to explore more of those steps as well. Also depending on how you debloat, some features break in certain software, so it would require a little more testing to make sure.
Glad you enjoyed it. Some folks in the discord used some thermal pads to help pull more heat, but also some specific tape to block the heat from being excessive on the rear shell.
For your 7 zip tutorial, showing how to make zip folders is redundant as windows normally has an add to zip button it doesnt need external software for it
Hey, why did you download the drivers from AMD instead of the GPD website? Just wondering because I just ordered my 4 TB SSD and I’m gonna do a clean windows 11 install. I have the ryzen 5 7640u
@@okestgamer thanks bro! I really do appreciate your help. I am still getting the hang of Pc stuff. What about micro sd cards? I have a new 512 GB Samsung evo select, I’m having trouble understanding if I need to format it or not. The WIN 4 recognized it as a regular drive. Do I format it on the WIN 4?, Or do I format it on my MacBook and add my roms first? this is my first windows machine since windows XP lol I plan on using the microSD for emulation and the SSD for AAA games.
Depends on the game store for offline play. I would suggest checking buy and sell groups to get one second hand if you get a 6800u. If you get the newer ones you can grab those from Gpd’s Indiegogo page
That is very odd, I haven’t had that experience on mine when I tested. I wonder if reinstalling them could help, the new drivers seemed to work well for me
hey man ive seen people say tht the factory version of windows comes with worms in it and tht we should fresh install windows on it? should we do tht or is the factory version of windows jst fine?
@okestgamer they are good at sending you out a replacement joystick but if you don't know how to strip the unit down and replace it yourself, it's going to cost you
Liking to view this the day i get my win 4.

i just ordered a Win 4 (2023) a couple days ago -- this video is just what i needed!
The only thing that may be different is whether the amd adrenaline drivers are ready. I hear the update is kinda messed up for the 7840u currently.
That would be unfortunate there are multiple 7840u devices on the market already but they haven't got it together yet
Just ordered the 8840u version THANK U. For this!!
Not a problem, hope you enjoy your device
This is by far the Best Setup Tutorial for GPD Win 4, it's very complete, thanks.
Not a problem, hopefully it was helpful

commenting to view this video again once I get my gpd win 4
You can also save it to a playlist. That’s what I do when I save videos to watch later.
Could you install windows 10 on this, and then, make a video on how to do it.
You make stuff simple and straight forward, thanks man.
I would love to, I just haven't had a chance to slot a special video like that in. I would need to also check program compatibility
@@okestgamer 4 real dude, if u could do that, it would be kickass.

More tips & tricks, how to update bios and other updates that GDP puts out but are kinda complicated.
@@AlexRuzicka I actually have a win 4 7640 arriving this week, so I’ll need to brush up on my GPD skills
Very nice video man!

Yeah they are cool, make sure you look into a few to make sure you get one you'll love
lol rewatching this because I just got my win 4. Didn’t catch the TikTok diss 😂
lol I couldn’t help myself
Great guide !! ❤
Thanks man!
For your 7 zip tutorial, showing how to make zip folders is redundant as windows normally has an add to zip button it doesnt need external software for it
There are some files that do not unzip properly with the windows unzip. It's why I always recommend 7 zip

Just the graphics drivers. The other drivers you should get from GPD. First get GPD drivers, then after get AMD

7640 coming tomorrow!
Congrats man! It performs pretty well when compared to the 7840 and 6800 (I have a video on that if interested)
@@okestgamer I watched it twice very informative
Glad it was helpful, let me know how you like it once you’ve got it.
I don't know why but I can't make hotkeys
You can try handheld companion to set them up as well
Where can i get it for a cheap price? Also... can i download console games in it so i can play offline?

Why bother with 7zip? Doesn’t Explorer already have zip file capabilities?
It doesn't always properly unzip certain files. I've had that issue a few times, 7 zip is free and has worked great.
AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition killed my frame rate in games and introduced stuttering. Anyone had the same issue and know how to fix it?
That’s very odd, are you on the win 4 or win 4 7840?
@@okestgamer Win 4 6800u
That is very odd, I haven’t had that experience on mine when I tested. I wonder if reinstalling them could help, the new drivers seemed to work well for me
Do you have to install motion assistant
It should come pre-installed
How has performance been? Waiting on my Win Max 2 (2023)
Pretty decent, this one is the 6800u. The 7840 one will be coming end of the month for me. Low TDP this thing is a champ
How do I go about doing this on my win max 2 2023? The amd software does not come installed and when installing I get a 205 error code.
@@okestgamerI have the same one but have dealing with extremely slow game play I’m hoping this will fix it. Lmk what you think
hey man ive seen people say tht the factory version of windows comes with worms in it and tht we should fresh install windows on it? should we do tht or is the factory version of windows jst fine?
I haven’t had any issues with viruses or anything with the factory windows. I know some do fresh installs, but I’m not worried about it personally
My win 4 I just bought keeps restarting randomly. Some people are saying it could be cause of AMD adrenaline
That's pretty random, I haven't heard of adrenaline causing reboots. Is it the 6800?
Does the gpd win 4 have battery pass through?
Yes I believe so
Hey dude! I did the amd drivers install on my Rog Ally but still doesn't display the option to check updates? Any idea why? Thanks man
The ROG ALLY seems to use a different line of drivers specifically for it. I believe my asus will be your go to for those drivers (or armoury crate)
Yeh I think so mate but thanks anyways great video buddy 👍🏻
Not a problem, the Ally is a little different than the rest for updates.
