    Let's do a little survey: like this comment or reply if you've received an NFT offer in the last year. Let's see just how common these NFT scams are!

      Yes. I started my Instagram account back in December and immediately started getting offers to sell my art as NFTs. I never fell for it though.

      I have received many NFT offers on Instagram. And I have blocked all of them. Immediately I thought it was a scam. This people profile were all the same, they show people with fancy cars, beautiful houses, and a lot of paintings in museums. I don't know, but that seems people stealing pictures from other people and making fake accounts. I don't even think they are who they say they are.

      @@rollicker3139 It is a tactic of theirs to target brand new accounts because they think the artist will be more inexperienced and naive. The good thing is, as you grow they'll bother you less often!

    Great video Ness!! I want to say that even tho I have worked with 1-2 legit projects, yes 99.9% of them are scums! One piece of advice, always look for contracts as an artist, from legit people and generally stay away from things that you’ve never heard before and have zero information about, most of the scams are obvious!

    Not really sure how people easily fall for these scams… I just had an ‘art collector’, with a nice page and her own NFT website, offer me 30eth for three paintings, and asked me to mint on her website. She was nice and friendly- until I told her ‘transfer me 40% upfront and I’ll happily begin uploading’. She got pissed and then blocked by me

    • @ArtBusinesswithNess

      Nice going Ethan! I think partly some people savvy with selling (asking for money upfront and whatnot) and partly, artists are hopeful to make a living with their art and desperately want to believe it’s true. That’s why artists are targeted to begin with. Don’t judge them harshly, judge the scammers!

    I got an offer today, it just said they liked my art and wants to buy it as an NFT collection, I told em I have to think about and got to this video in my research about NFTs cuz I knew nothing about them.
    Can you just upload them yourself and tell those people where to find em on the site to buy them? Maybe like this they can't scam you since if they're really interested they can just buy them from the original site from where you uploaded them.

    • @ArtBusinesswithNess
      @ArtBusinesswithNess  5 месяцев назад

      You CAN make them yourself, but it costs money to make (or "mint") and it's very difficult to sell them because so few people are buying... So yes it's safer and this way you wouldn't be scammed, but you'll still probably lose your initial investment.

      "Can you just upload them yourself and tell those people where to find em on the site to buy them? Maybe like this they can't scam you since if they're really interested they can just buy them from the original site from where you uploaded them." I asked myself the same question. And I found some videos that say there are some websites where you don't need to pay to create an NFT out of your art...
      Doesn't sound it safe that way?

    • @ArtBusinesswithNess
      @ArtBusinesswithNess  4 месяца назад

      @@anniki7573 It's safe to create them yourself, but the problem remains that the NFT market is dying and there's no one that wants to buy NFTs anymore, so it's all pretty pointless. There are way better ways to sell art than this...

    I have prints of my photos for sale on Fine Art America. If I sell one of my photos as an NFT, can I still sell prints of that photo through that website? Or does the one that own the NFT essentially owns the rights to the photo. Because that’s one thing I do not want to do is ever give up right to my art.

    • @ArtBusinesswithNess
      @ArtBusinesswithNess  2 месяца назад

      Selling a NFT does not assign any rights. They only own their copy, not any reproduction rights. This is like if someone buys a print for you, it doesn't give them any right. However, it seems like a misplaced concern since the likelihood of artists actually managing to sell NFTs is very low. No one is buying that stuff or is interested in it. It's a dead market.

  • @quietcorner293
    @quietcorner293 2 месяца назад

    I don’t understand something. When you have physical art like a painting or a statue, it can have some use during the time you own it. I mean, you can display it. You can hang it in your house your office wherever. But what about NFT? I’m hobby photographer. If I turned one of my photos into an NFT, what good does it have for the person who owns it? I mean, if I sold it as print, it can obviously be displayed.

    • @ArtBusinesswithNess
      @ArtBusinesswithNess  2 месяца назад +1

      You're hitting the nail on the head about the core problem with NFTs: they have no use. I suppose you can print your NFT to display it, but you can just buy an actual print from the artist for cheaper than that. The only value of NFTs is in reselling. People don't buy a NFT because they like the art or artist and want to display it, they buy it because they think they can resell it and make a profit. It's an investment, not an art purchase. And since everyone wants to sell, no one wants to buy... it's a very bad investment, very risky, and after the first couple years when everyone who bought them couldn't sell them and incurred massive losses, people lost interest and the whole market just collapsed.

      Many of these "promotion" accounts look like they have a lot of followers, but they're mostly bots and and when we look at the actual engagement on their posts it's almost inexistent... It is risky to buy these promos because mostly it's a waste of money, but even worse, some of these accounts will buy followers for you to make it seem like their service works. You'll wake up one morning with exactly 200 new followers for example. This can flag your account for shadow ban, so it's incredibly dangerous!

      @ArtBusinesswithNess I had the same person on Twitter contacted me saying they like my artwork. Are u interested in selling them? Where can I look at them. I mostly sell my work on crypto com nft site, and Dud said I don't do services on that site it has to be opensea.. then he like BRB I got a client then when he messaged me he like let's do deal I want buy your art I told him my links i said that's amazing my link is my bio then he stop messaging me.. I look thru his page one person comment on a post. Be careful he's a scammer she shared a screenshot of him pretending to be from Japan and that he's an art dealer and collects art she called him out, and then he blocked her.. but now his profile says he's from uk..

    NFTs do not need to be beautiful but unique. So when someone wants to buy my art by NFT cause it is beautiful, I just don't listen the rest...

      Maybe so, but when someone says NFT at all I just don't listen to the rest lol. If I wanted to sell NFTs I'd mint them myself, I wouldn't need anyone else. But why would I want to get into this dead market? There are much, MUCH easier and more fun ways to sell art...

    Thanks. Someone just offered me $4500 for each of 5-10 artworks of mine.

      That's a reasonable price, but if it's NFTs it's undoubtedly a scam...
