Dang, huge kudos to Beeple, I didn't know he was the guy on Corridor Digital's channel. I love the idea of audience based auction pricing for content creation, very fascinating.
I've listened to hours and hours of podcast episodes on NFTs but you guys really put this conversation into a real-life perspective that's kinda of empowering. Props to you both for a great convo
I was a fan of Digital art recently, I love seeing the merge of tech and art together. I love seeing this transition we are seeing before our eyes. One day if I can afford, I'd love to buy an NFT
The thought of brands competing with audiences is a mind bender. Brands pay to get access to the audience, the audience buys the brand’s products, which funds additional ad spending. Now a brand has to compete to essentially remain a middle man - outbidding the audience for the access to the audience’s purchases rather than the audience supporting the creator directly. Whew.
I'm a 100% on the "starting to get it " side. I mean you guys opened my mind and particular knowledge on this new WAY OF LIFE AND THINKING. Tank you have an amazing channel.
Great breakdown as always! Very interested to see how NFT’s end up being used by creators in the Twitch/RUclips space! I know I’m definitely working on some hero/villain art cards/trading cards.
Great video. I had no clue what was up with these headlines before this video. Btw it's super cool how this is clearly researched and planned but still comes across as a casual conversation.
Your idea about a limited token that would supply content similar to patreon is actually stellar. Would not be surprised to see that implemented. Bravo
Honestly the Beeple sale actually legitimised this whole NFT thing. The Logan Paul and NBA crap was just cashing in on a trend. Beeple is proof that NFTs solve the old-as-the-internet problem of being able to make a living off digital art.
idk, I would say that NBA found a new "trading card alternative". and of the major sports leagues in North America, they were the first to start an official esports league with 2k League but, yeah beeple sales did help make NFTs a thing for digital artists
I’ve been a huge fan of your channel for awhile now. The content you guys produce is so top notch. I’d love to see shorter videos though. Some of me favorite videos you guys have made are the ones that are 10 minutes or less and they seem to get the most views as well. That being said I watch all your videos no matter the time haha. Love the content(:
I'll go check out your other video too with Logan, because maybe you talk about this over there, but I'd really love to hear a lot more about why there's such an outcry for creators to NOT sell NFTs, specifically I'm thinking of Jacob Collier who cancelled the sale of his NFT because of a huge outcry from his fans regarding the environmental impact do to the mining. That seems like a huge part of the conversation that isn't addressed enough
On diamonds: I actually believe there are several qualities that contribute to inherent value, such as beauty (not socialized, but true simple beauty), scarcity, and of course demand. If you see others interested, it reinforces it. So part of it is socialized (20th century ads starting the idea of a diamond engagement ring) but most of it is inherent. Like gold.
"the primary of function of art, people are buying it to resell it" this should never be it's main function. I don't get why so few are talking with established artists or art experts about NFTs. Most people who are interested in this topic seem to be speculative investors who want to make a lot of cash by being early in this space, but even for that the prices are already insane. I mean what would a Banksy or Damien Hirst NFT sell for? 300 million, 1 billion? Something like that could easily break the whole system. In the end you just own a certificate and not a museum piece
It's amazing how art NFTs are increasing in number rn. I read on Twitter about this new marketplace called NFT Tech. They offer free minting fees. They also offer better prices unlike other platforms.
I understand that you guys are mainly interested in how this will effect creators but its worth mentioning the environmental impacts behind NFTs as well, since this effects everyone. Would've been nice to at least acknowledge it. Maybe in a future video.
I remember seeing Mike in the Corridor Crew 45min render challenge! man swears every other second! I would say his style is like a surrealist 3D caricature/social-Political cartoon From watching his streams it seems like he's got an asset library that would make Turbosquid blush and a super janky cooling system for his PC which allows him to make renders so fast. 19:50 I would argue that it's not new and visual artists have been using IG, Flickr, Behance, and even blogs to gain exposure for a while. NFTs made people pay attention. I DO agree that the term "creator economy" will expand to be thought of anyone who makes creative things nice vid, guys!
Ooooh Quite fascinating that content creation is now being recognized by the audience themselves, this will change how the artform is valued, now everyone matters. Let's see how many new investors will go join in and be successful in 10 years.
1) Starting to get it, but only slightly. 2) Right now, 0$, that's the highest I can give without fear of losing. If I had a absurd amounts of money, I would value your bts editing process at around 3-5 k $
Getting more grasp on this topic, thanks to you guys. I think it would be cool to invest into an NFT but not sure what I would have an emotional connection to...
The interesting thing with NFTs and the ownership aspect of them. Is that when it comes to art Museums and the certificate of Ownership is important and in some cases is the only thing of real value, especially when it comes to art pieces that are meant to decay and have parts replaced. NFTs allow art museums to have that certificate of ownership for art pieces made for being consumed Digitally. Art is made with the experience of the viewer in mind (most of the time). And some are is made to only be experienced in the digital space. NFTs, give Museums the ability to invest in those types of art better than before.
I am 55 years old. I was just born :) today . right now actually. This is mind blowing. I have a headache. Its Fascinating! Liked and subscribed. Thank you for what you do.
Great video guys! I love the concept of people being able to potentially invest in the creators work and have the potential to share in the growth gain over time... I have always been interested in the RUclips space as a potential revenue stream but would not necessarily want to be in the videos myself or involved in content structure. This could be a great way to allow creators to benefit from investment in their businesses without being tied to someone who would feel the need to control the content direction. Would love another deeper dive into this space in the near future!
Great episode guys, awesome breakdown of what just happened. Sounds like you really found your tone with these new videos for the last year. Keep them coming ✌️
Thank you for breaking down this fascinating time we are living in. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. Definitely not at a place of speculating on art. However, it is interesting how the this NFT thing requires people to reevaluate EVERYTHING (like the diamonds example).
NFTs as a trend is so what you would expect from the internet culture we are all apart of, but I have to wonder will it just be a trend with an expiration date or will it become a staple of this culture? Great video as always guys, I really look for forward to each Monday to see what you will bring!
My answers to the question: 1. Yes you do sort of give a chill Bill Gates vibe 2. I am a high school student so I don't really have much financial knowledge but if the NFT were something related to my favorite sports team, creator(Artist, Musician, RUclipsr, etc) I believe in then I am most probably willing to pay up to like 5k lol since my interest I feel like is of small creators who I believe might blow up. If its someone who I just met and wants to buy their art I would say at max 100 due to lack of knowledge. Good luck on getting 10k likes(I already liked), can't wait till you hit 200K 👍
Great vid. It helped me to understand NFT's and the internet better. Which in turn made me realize how little I know about the internet...or life. I wonder if Beeple feels smarter now...or is he just more confused than ever. As he counts all his money.
I like your current podcast format. Excellent. I am really surprised since you started covering NTFs that you seem to be sceptical about it. I am not talking about stupid useless art. I am talking about real art. I have been buying digital art for over a decade, but I never get to have value for any of the downloads I got. It is exactly worth as much as someone who ripped it off a website. So NFTs for me are very important. I think if you guys still do not appreciate art, you should invite someone who does.
It's all smoke and mirrors. It's a gamble with insane amounts of money and speaks to how certain individuals have too much of it. A digital piece of art has value, but there's nothing special or original like an original piece of tangible art. I can own a print of Starry Night, but the physical canvas is special, yet they are the same image. A digital file, regardless of whether it has a receipt attached, is no more special or meaningful than another, even if people lie to themselves and say it is. If someone truly loved Beeple's work for $69 million, why did that patron not reach out to Beeple earlier to buy a set of JPGs? Or make one-off JPGs just for him/her? This all smacks of overly wealthy people infected with a major case of FOMO and need to throw liquid assets into anything that can retain value amongst similarly deluded individuals with a lot of money.
And with that, Colin and Samir should release a limited NFT for their 200k subscriber marker so we can all say we were here and hit that subscribe and bell notification. Yeah?
Recently, I read a newsletter from a friend I respect in cryptocurrency. He said, "Digital art is superior to analog art." Following this reasoning then Beeple's magnum opus is great art. It does not matter that most of Beeple's 5,000 pictures are populace at best while some are racist. Beeple's proficiency in Cinema 4D, Zbrush and Maya serve as substitutes for content and the art world bought it. Though artists have been using digital means to create art for 30 years much of what results is materially based and thus isn't novel. Forget painting and drawing. Sorry Neo and Jasper, you're old hat. Conceptual art? What's that? Digital art is the new kid on the block. NFT's are cutting edge. Philip Guston is canceled. I am reminded of an admonition by Donald Judd, "The problem with artists today is that they treat art history like it were a toy box." The auction house has propped up digital art as the Second Coming. Hype generates money. It's nothing new. Hans Haacke is laughing. Once the art world comes to its senses it will realize that digital art is simply a vehicle like any other. All great art has great content.
Do you think the NFT market may at some point rebound; specifically, maybe fine art NFT? Despite falling out of favor, it seems like a great way to sell high-value art because of anti-copy protection of the original work.
Art is special but generally i think the problem with nfts is that most people only buy to resell but thats not how collectabells work. I mean people collect cards for the cards but not to resell them.
It took him 13 years of hard work to become an overnight success.
was it 14 years?
@@InnerAnimations yes, but this is first 5000 days so it is about 13 years and 8 months
69 MEMES:)
@@Dude-ew5fd pretty much 14
Bill Gates vibe for sure lol. Love your channel. These NFT's are really fascinating!
people following nfts are just dumb bagholders
Dang, huge kudos to Beeple, I didn't know he was the guy on Corridor Digital's channel. I love the idea of audience based auction pricing for content creation, very fascinating.
found you the Hasselblad guy
@Hezekiah Danny nice try bot
I've listened to hours and hours of podcast episodes on NFTs but you guys really put this conversation into a real-life perspective that's kinda of empowering. Props to you both for a great convo
We really live in an incredible time for artists.
So glad you decided to start a podcast.
Your breakdowns are always so good.
I started my channel as a hobby in 2019. Hope to take it full time one day, your tips and insight for content creators is extremely helpful!
I was a fan of Digital art recently, I love seeing the merge of tech and art together. I love seeing this transition we are seeing before our eyes. One day if I can afford, I'd love to buy an NFT
You can buy NFT's for $1 or less

This channel is equivalent to getting a digital transformation degree. Absolutely amazing to watch and learn from both of you!
Great vid! love how you guys make NFTs simple and easy to unerstand
Great breakdown as always! Very interested to see how NFT’s end up being used by creators in the Twitch/RUclips space! I know I’m definitely working on some hero/villain art cards/trading cards.

The best explanation of what Beeple was doing is in the Corridor Crew's video "CGI Artist makes masterpiece every day"
Colin & Samir, we want more episodes per week please
Honestly the Beeple sale actually legitimised this whole NFT thing. The Logan Paul and NBA crap was just cashing in on a trend. Beeple is proof that NFTs solve the old-as-the-internet problem of being able to make a living off digital art.

but, yeah beeple sales did help make NFTs a thing for digital artists
Nfts will change the world along with crypto... watch this space.
the struggles of making a living off art aren't exclusive to the digital realm, my bet is this will be a fad that fades in time.
I’ve been a huge fan of your channel for awhile now. The content you guys produce is so top notch. I’d love to see shorter videos though. Remember seeing this guy on corriders channel, and I was so impressed. So stoked to see his work pay off

There are 2 major future crypto projects that you need to pay attention to regarding NFTs: NFTART and SHIBADOGE
Hey i love these videos so much! But I do miss the 5-12 min breakdown episodes, will those return?
these guys have the conversations I wish I could have with my friends
Thanks for lucidly, playfully, and intelligently discussing this bizarre art phenomenon. Well done.

spot on!
Plz do these on the podcast channel
Great channel guys!
And with that, Colin and Samir should release a limited NFT for their 200k subscriber marker so we can all say we were here and hit that subscribe and bell notification. Yeah?
This is all nuts! Imagine trying to explain to someone in 2001 about NFT’s and that you could great digital artwork and sell it for fortunes!
Love the explanation and conversation. Thank you! Agree that world changed. One thing you did not go into is fees and gas fees maybe a future one...
I feel The same way about this channel. I’ve been watching since the beginning. And I like that!
Awesome content 👏🏾
I've been following that guy for years, I had no clue he was the one who sold that nft! Omg that's amazing! Good for him, he deserves it
Great Video guys!
Beeple deserves it, the guy has been working tirelessly for a long time.
I see the value, but this is a crazy bubble. Peoples perceived value is crazy skewed because of the current culture. But NFTs have cool uses
Finding this channel feels like finding a gold mine
Samir and Colin bouta have thier own NFTs out in a week
Rocking that Seek Discomfort Merch!
Can you buy an NFT of digtal music? If you are an independent artist should you sell nfts of your songs?
NFT is the future of art. Make more videos about this, I am excited ❤️❤️
Awesome, l like your videos guys! God bless you
